Foreign Agent by Brad Thor Book Summary

“The best thriller of the year...an exciting and entertaining read.” —The Washington Times

“A top-notch thriller.” —Bill O’Reilly

From #1 New York Times and #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brad Thor—a brilliant thriller as “current as tomorrow’s headlines” (Dan Brown, #1 New York Times bestselling author). Terrorism in Europe has spun out of control. The United States has decided on a dramatic response. Now, the CIA needs a very special kind of operative.

Scot Harvath has exactly the skills the CIA is looking for. He’s a former U.S. Navy SEAL with extensive experience in espionage. Working for a private intelligence company, he will provide the CIA, and more important, the President, with absolute deniability.

But deep within the Russian Caucasus, Moscow also has its own special kind of operative. As a child, Sacha Baseyev endured an unimaginable horror. Today, he lives and breathes for only one reason—to kill. And he will kill as many Americans as it takes to accomplish his mission.

When a clandestine American operations team is ambushed near Syria, all signs point toward a dangerous informant in Brussels. But as Harvath searches for the man, he uncovers another actor—a rogue player hell-bent on forcing America’s hand and drawing it into a confrontation deadlier than anyone could have imagined.

As the attacks mount, and terror is brought to the very doorstep of the White House, Harvath finds himself in the race of his life. From Vienna, Brussels, and Berlin, to Malta, Jordan, and Syria—he will push himself beyond the edge in order to confront one of the greatest evils the world has ever known.

Nice, not sophisticated. Nice book to have on a flight. The goods are good, the bads are bad.

Great Read. As always, Brad Thor delivered an amazing read, one in which you really wonder about the possibilities . . . Loved the twins! Hope to revisit their story in a future book.

Almost can't finish it. I've ready every other book in the series and love them. This one, however, I think is terrible. The plot is boring and predictable, the story drones on and I fall asleep from the monotony of one battle after the next. Loads of characters introduced quickly and it becomes confusing. I have to say this is one of the worst most amateur books I've read and it really surprises me after enjoying the rest of the series. Seems like he was in a hurry to simply crank one out-- this is a weak result and a waste of my money.

Well done. Just a good read…period.

Disappointing. I wasn't familiar with this author and am surprised this is a NYT best seller. No character development, no details provided for key plot lines, repeated phrases, no suspense. A poorly written imitation of the best authors in this genre. I couldn't finish it.

Can't get enough. This is the best Scott Harvath adventure to date. Well written, great plot, lightening fast pace, with satisfying finish. Feel like I just had a great succulent steak dinner with good glass of Cabernet.

Almost Back. The sample download lead me to believe Brad was back to the level of his early books. And, while there were those moments, segments seemed to be stretched and phrasing repeated. Brad Thor has a great style as proven by past performance. Yet, whether it is contractual agreements-- to churn out books on a deadline or a consortium plugging in pieces of the mosaic...there were time I thought, who wrote this...this is not his style. I did find a number of "incidents" within the story line very current and even quite plausible. I enjoyed the book, but was waiting for the great writing of the past. And, while kind to mentioned the multitude of people that were involved in this book... Why not do the heavy work yourself. I don't recall Shakespeare devoting pages to his sources, publisher, editors and merchandisers.

Another Awesome Read by Thor. I've read every one of his books. From start to finish they always grab me. I've read as Thor has evolved his titular character Scot Harvath through one harrowing ordeal to another. How Harvath has evolved personally and professionally over time and how things were left in this most recent book will have me wondering for a long time what is to become of the ultimate spy. The best part of these books is you can pick them in any order and just start reading. Although I do recommend from the 1st to this most recent. Excellent reading!!!

Packed.. Actually followed this one really well and enjoyed the characters throughout. Felt like I spent a lot of time following Harvath’s story and not some “whatever” character half the time, which made it more enjoyable. Felt like it didn’t need to have so many “bad guys” on the Russian side though. The book spent too much time interrogating people and that got a bit boring going through it with Eichel, Malevsky, Sergun and the general. Too many interrogations! But it ended very well and actually closed out the primary characters nicely. I binged the last 30 chapters in a 2 hour window because it gets really good after chapter 40. Action packed and easy to follow! Great job Thor!

All I Expected!. Great Read! Couldn’t put it down!

Clairvoyant. The melding of fiction with really well researched reality...interwoven into intricate plots. The "what ifs" on today's world chessboard taken through frightening conclusions. Brilliant. Reminds me of Clancy's early creative work. Thor is a force.

Wicked. The fact that operators and think tanks are required to read at least one of his books should be an indication of his accuracy and skill set. You won't be disappointed. If Jack Ryan got you here let Scot Harvath show you how we stay here!!!

Pass on this author. An expected and vanilla flavored story.

Foreign Agent. What has happened to Brad Thor's writing? Crazy book, crazy characters, no plot, rambling on, who cares about the ending? Guess Scott Horvath is done....

Brad Thor Fan. Why would anyone (Foreign Agent) give such a lame review with no explanation as to why? I am patiently waiting for the release tomorrow, at which time I will buy this book. I am very confident that it will be worthy of my review of 5 stars. If you have a valid reason for your review then please let me in on it! I'm not impressed so far with your lack of enthusiasm.

Did Thor write this book?. I don’t believe so. If you can get through the first half of it, it gets half way decent. This is NOT his best book. Too many characters? Yeah. No story is fully developed. Moving on to the next one.

Best yet!. Like a fine wine, his writing has improved with age. His best crafted book yet. I look forward to the next installment.

Spellbinding. This is one of the best books I have ever read. I wish I could have read it through start to finish at one time, but my lifestyle prevented that. At the end of each challenging day, I had something to look forward to - a chapter or two of Foreign Agent!

Great!!!. What a great read, I couldn't put it down. Brad does it again. Can't wait for the next book.

Foreign Agent. Do not buy.

Foreign Agent. The best & very up to the times book.

Foreign Agent. I used to enjoy the Scott Horvath series. There was plot development, character development, a bit of humor and some operational scenes that some could relate to. This one not so much. It reminded me of Kramer's t shirt message--in my mind I'm already gone.

Foreign Agent. Outstanding, near real. Keeps the reader's interest and is fast moving to pique the reader's interest, that will not let him/her put the book down. When is Thor's next book going to be published?

Great book. I like all his novels

Foreign Agent. Fantastic read. Brad at his best!!!

Excellent. Really enjoyed reading this book! Very well written! Kept me on edge and excited to keep reading!

Foreign Agent. very informative and entertaining. Easy reading. MY wife and I highly recommend it. E & E

Foreign Agent. Once again knocked it out of the park Brad! Hope we have someone like Scott out there we are going to need him.

The Apostle. If you don't know by now, Thor never misses. Period.

Thriller and beyond. Great read!! Kept me on the edge of my seat. Sometimes I couldn't wait till a particular part had some closure. Great job Brad.

Excellent. I have read all of Mr. Thor's books and they are all an excellent read.
