Awesome. Great book

Had me in tears. I didn’t expect it to take me where it did. I cried a few. But it was such a good read.

Emotionally Intense and Disturbing Read. Whoa, this was an intense and disturbing read, the themes were heavy and dark. This storyline is filled with regrets, danger and drenched in evil. The Therese discussed are heavy triggers such as drug addiction, human trafficking and sexual assaults. Liam Black is a dark disturbed broken soul who has given up on his lot in life and lives day to day as a hired assassin with no remorse finding his saving grace in his childhood love who disappeared when they were teenagers. The lengths Black goes to protect his previous love and light is encouraging, watching Black regain his humanity and fight for it. Rose was literally dealt the cruelest hand I’ve read of a character, falling in love young and being sold into prostitution and forced to become a drug addict losing herself and a piece of her soul was devastating to read about. Rose is filled with immense strength though as well never giving up on herself to recover and regain what was taken was extremely admirable. The romance between Rose and Black was beyond damaged but somehow worked for their brokenness as they slowly healed one another piecing back together the lost pieces to their souls. An emotionally intense disturbing read not for the faint of heart.

Spelling Error 1st Paragraph. When you read a book and there is a spelling error in the first paragraph it’s time to stop. Smelt vs Smelled. Very different words.

An must read!!!!. I honestly was hook on this until the very last page. I believe it definitely testify to what length an individual will go for love. An must read. Can't wait for book 2 🤗🤗🤗

Kept me interested... Read this in one sitting! Such a sad ending….can’t wait to get started on the next one! This is a new author for me but I will be looking to see if she has others. I recommend this book!

Good enough. Interesting plot with just enough damsel in distress but the ending was dumb. I don’t need a HEA but it seemed pointless to end the way she did.

BEST BOOK EVER. It had me on edge on the triller and curiosity! It had me screaming, crying, and laughing. I’ll always love Liam and Jake.

PAGE TURNER. Such a great read, shamelessly read in one night. However the wording in the book confused me at some points (noted though I did see the author stated this is based in Australia)... on to the second 😁

Black. This could have been a decent story but there was no flow to it. Also, the author doesn't give you hardly any detail to the scenes, or emotions of the characters and the sex scenes were dry...so without all that, it made the story boring.

Not what I expected. Not what I would consider a romance and definitely no HEA, however it was a thrilling and intense read. Lots of realistic extreme violence. Characters were easy to believe

If you start reading this book I must warn you that you will spent hours with out wanting anymore that to finish this book! Can't wait for book number 2! Black. I’d give it a half star if I could. This story sucked! I would not waste my time reading anything else from this author! This book is horrible!

Amazing Read. Gosh... what a great read.

No HEA. This book was choppy. It was more of a choppy play by play with an unhappy ending. Won’t be reading this author again

Not that good. The writing is sporadic. It's almost like the author was trying too hard to be artistic. I didn't really enjoy it and found myself glazing over entire paragraphs. The ending was the worst. I feel like a lot of the reviews are fabricated. It's worth free but not more. Not purchasing the next book.

Oh Kiki—. Can’t trust reviews from someone that doesn’t know the past tense of smell in English is smelt. There’s more to the English language than that of the US.

Black. This is a hard book to review. So much hard luck, people could not catch a break. Not happy with the ending.

Eh. I found myself skimming along paragraphs at times. Maybe it just wasn’t my style. It reminded me of diary writing at times. I was confused a lot and wasn’t too thrilled with how the characters were portrayed. It was a lot.. a lot of drugs and sex. It just wasn’t portrayed the best. in the hands of the right person this could be a great story. I wish we got to see their past more. It was very vague. The storyline was slower than I would have liked.

Black Reaches into Your Soul and Brings You to Life. I received an ARC (advanced reader copy) of Black by TL Smith in exchange for an honest review. Let me start my review by saying, if you're looking for a book that can grab ahold of your emotions and let you ugly cry, this is the book you want to get. Black follows two different perspectives, that of Black and Rose. Black and Rose crossed each other's paths back when they were in high school and each had a hold on the other until one day, Rose just vanishes, leaving Black to worry and wonder where she went and what happened to her. Years later, we get a glimpse of Black and the career choice he has chosen. It's when he's at a club that he stumbles across a broken woman and realizes it is none other than her. Rose. So much transpires over the course of just a few chapters. T.L. Smith knows her characters inside and out. Not once do I doubt their motivations as they are all logical for the character. This story just roped me in so quickly, and I kept getting irritated when people were interrupting me with having me do stuff or just trying to talk to me. There is some explicit sex in this book, as a warning to some readers, but it is well written and doesn't make you feel trashy or dirty when you read it. I'm so weird when reading sex scenes, it's either good or bad, there is no in-between. Black is the good sex. It does get graphic in some areas, but it's handled extremely well. Also, another warning, there are many heavy topics that are dealt with in this book and there is a recommendation that this book is only for readers 18 and older. One of my favorite aspects about Black is the writing style. It was poetic prose. Let me tell you, poetic prose is some hard crap to write. Smith writes this with ease and the writing not only tells a story, but has a soul behind it. I think that this is what propelled the story from beginning to end. I have two nit-picky things about the book. The first being when Black and Rose are discussing her money situation. Rose writes down a figure on a piece of paper and Black doesn't think the number in his head. Anyone would think the number in their head as their looking. It betrays the first person point of view. My other complaint is when Rose is thinking of things in the future. It also doesn't work, as this story is being told in the present. Rose wouldn't have precognition of what will happen later on in the book. Other than those issues, the rest of the book was woven together very nicely. I was impressed with the level of suspense that was raised throughout. Smith handles to two perspectives of Rose and Black very well, giving each of them distinct voices without it feeling as if their voices blend and blur together. Some books struggle with this, especially with multiple first person POVs, but Black definitely doesn't fall into this category. There are so many great quotable lines from this book. I wish I was skilled in photoshop so I could make a cool banner with the quotes. Overall, I give this book a solid 4.5/5 star rating and will round up to a 5 star rating on all reviewing outlets. It's definitely worth the read. The anticipation I had built up surrounding this book was just killing me! I leave you with this quote from the book that made me ugly cry so hard. If you hate ugly cries, you still need to get this book because it's so worth crying over. “Don’t worry, Black, you don’t want me. You don’t want me in your life. So don’t worry.”

Black. Loved this book, and so can’t wait to read next one. So good it has it all too. Three cheers!

Black. I absolutely love this book

A must read!. Captivated from beginning to end! Great storyline and a refreshing change to the standard bad boy biker stories. Black had better not be dead as my heart will be broken. I have never clicked to buy the next book quicker in my life. Absolutely hooked.

FRUSTRATION. THE LAST CHAPTER 💢 To say this book leaves you wanting more is an understatement. I kinda hate and love the author at the same time. THE CLIFFHANGER. warning: not recommended for people who get decidedly violent and upset when met with a cliffhanger. i.e me. On the other hand. If you are reading this review, FOR PETE’S SAKE HUMAN, READ. THE. BOOK.

Hot Damn. Seriously such a good book. Literally had me gripped from beginning to end. I laughed, cried and gasped throughout. Love the love Rose and Liam have. Definitely can't recommend this book enough. Can't wait to read the second one.

Words can't describe how good this book is. From the moment TL Smith revealed the blurb I was intrigued. When she revealed the cover, my god it was perfect and now I had a sexy visual. I could not wait to get my hands on Black. TL has an amazing talent for writing suspense, her writing is intense and gritty while still giving you all kinds of feels. I'm always left wondering just how deep she is going to go, how many more twists does she have up her sleeve, when are these knots going to unravel. For those who love TL’s writing Black is going to blow you away and for those who haven't read her previous work you clear your day, once you start you will not want to put this down. From the moment I started reading I was hooked. Past Meeting at 16 they came from two different worlds at school, she hangs out with the cool older kids and he is the ultimate bad boy that everyone is scared of. One random night these two broken souls come together, connecting in an unusual way. There conversations consist of few words. For once he has a meaning to get up in the morning, until she disappears from his life… “She was the light and she took it with her that day, stole it and never gave it back.” They say love is blind, for Rose it truly was. The suspense build up had me in knots, every time I thought I would get some relief another twist is revealed or becomes unraveled. The were so many feels with this book, my heart ached for Black, so many times it was filled with warmth, I cringed (even putting my hand up to shield part like you do in a movie and realised I couldn't do that while reading) and my heart raced. The ending of this book was epic had me in tears and left me wanting to kill TL...I haven't felt this way about an ending since Raw!

Best book. This is my first book in a long time and it made me want to read more and more, the book is really captivating and you feel like you’re the character in the book.

Liked it. It was a little hard emotionally to read . it’s a dark read . The story of black and rose is somewhat beautiful. Be I feel the need to know what happens next.

Standing ovation!. Every time I pick up a book by TL Smith, I know I’m going to have a few amazing hours of great entertainment ahead of me. It’s a sure thing. This story is dark and painful to read; so heartbreaking. You are kept on the edge of your seat biting your nails in nerve wrecking anticipation. Absolutely brilliant!
