Life Debt: Aftermath (Star Wars) by Chuck Wendig Book Summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Set between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, the never-before-told story that began with Star Wars: Aftermath continues in this thrilling novel, the second book of Chuck Wendig’s bestselling trilogy.

It is a dark time for the Empire. . . .

The Emperor is dead, and the remnants of his former Empire are in retreat. As the New Republic fights to restore a lasting peace to the galaxy, some dare to imagine new beginnings and new destinies. For Han Solo, that means settling his last outstanding debt, by helping Chewbacca liberate the Wookiee’s homeworld of Kashyyyk.

Meanwhile, Norra Wexley and her band of Imperial hunters pursue Grand Admiral Rae Sloane and the Empire’s remaining leadership across the galaxy. Even as more and more officers are brought to justice, Sloane continues to elude the New Republic, and Norra fears Sloane may be searching for a means to save the crumbling Empire from oblivion. But the hunt for Sloane is cut short when Norra receives an urgent request from Princess Leia Organa. The attempt to liberate Kashyyyk has carried Han Solo, Chewbacca, and a band of smugglers into an ambush—resulting in Chewie’s capture and Han’s disappearance.

Breaking away from their official mission and racing toward the Millennium Falcon’s last known location, Norra and her crew prepare for any challenge that stands between them and their missing comrades. But they can’t anticipate the true depth of the danger that awaits them—or the ruthlessness of the enemy drawing them into his crosshairs.

THESE ARE NOT Star Wars BOOKS AT ALL!!!. they are about the same lgbt characters over and over again. Every character is the same: selfish, pleasure seeking, it's all boring. This idiot has written two of these books about the same themes over and over again : gay lovers. I wouldn't mind gay characters, but that's all the books are about. What this guy has done is to simply take the Star Wars name and slap it on a book that describes numerous gay sex scenes and tries to slap you in the face with his agenda on every overdone page! I can't begin to tell you how inappropriate these books are!!! You forget their suppose to be about Star Wars and you think you're just reading a series of gay porno stories. He slaps a legitimate Star Wars character in there every three chapters to get his Star Wars endorsement but it's really just about him forcing his gay agenda down your throat forcibly. If you want a Star Wars book, look elsewhere or you will be sorely disappointed.

No more of this please. I am truly surprised Disney would tarnish the Star Wars brand with this amateurish offering. I've been reading Star Wars novels for over 20 years and this is by far the worst series I have ever read. Really poorly written.

Great Follow-up. Great part two book! Looking forward to the third. Maybe they will leave out the LGBT stuff in the next one, It's just not appropriate for Star Wars. It's hard enough to escape the constant bombardment of it in the news and on prime time television. Can't wait for the third book!!

TRUE Star Wars fans will NOT like this story. But that's not saying much. It seems like Disney uses Star Wars as a platform to allow amateur authors to pen their books. Obviously they don't want to pay a skilled writer to pen a memorable story. They have settled for mediocrity. Narration is okay, but Wendig has written another poor book. Don't waste your $ on this!!

Great Follow Up Book. Really made this series come alive for me. Loved the band of misfits and their adventures in collecting bounties. Also great to see Wedge Antilles get fleshed out more. All in all a must read for the Star Wars fan who is curious about what happened after the Second Death Star blew up.

Had me until last page, can't wait until next book. Lots of action and tension. Kept me guessing until the last page. Truly a part of the "Star Wars" saga. Han Solo, Chewbacca, Leia , Wedge etc with new engaging complex characters, that I truly care about.

SJW Overkill. I could tolerate the SJW stuff only until the first "Zhe". This isn't a PR campaign it's supposed to be a Star Wars book.

Great Second Part. This book exceeded my expectations. Cannot wait to finish the trilogy. All the main players have gathered together at last. Recommend to anyone who has the force in their life.

Entertaining, though poorly written. Hardcore STAR WARS fans will enjoy seeing Solo, Chewie and Leia in action—and the book sets up a final installment in the trilogy that will inevitably better relate to the new films. Yet, the prose in LIFE DEBT is overly simplistic, and the narrative unnecessarily complicated and jumbled to make a delightful reading. Ultimately, like its predecessor, LIFE DEBT is packed with entertaining action and fun fan service, even if the writing is stale and unmemorable.

Good read. Overall, a good read. It slowly peels away a mystery (sometimes a bit too slowly) but the climax is excellent and provides much background for the canon.

Decent but slow, Lacks excitement!. The background story of events leading up to the battle of Jakku in the 3rd book to be released is informative. Unfortunately, it's Not that exciting and the narrator doesn't make it any more exciting either. If this is Chuck Wendig's writing style, then he should leave the Star Wars universe. I miss the excitement and background sounds that the other Star Wars Legends books had, which this book is lacking. Once Disney took over LucusFilms, it became all about Money and PC bull! Abramson should be fired! It's not bad of a book or story but is lacking in things. May as well finish the final 3rd book when it's released a month from now as the books are part of a Trilogy set. NO surprise as Disney is milking the Star Wars franchise for all its worth and the millenials are none to intelligent to know any better.

Star Wars: Aftermath, Part Two. So much better than Aftermath. Not only are some of the old heroes back, but the characters are clever, bold, and a first for SW saga. Aftermath is a necessary evil to understand this story. Albeit, not everyone from the original trilogy is here, key characters intertwine in the story and set the stage for Episode 7. This particular series would make an excellent film.

A interesting novel better than first one. I this is starting to put the pieces in place for a run up to episode VII The force awakens ,but it still missing Luke and the force. I understand that this is part of the new canon and just a part of the new Star Wars universe, but there's no direction as where it's going, I guess it must be a secret? The hope is it will be answered in the next novels.

Please stop this man from writing any more Star Wars. Well, Wendig didn't learn a thing from the travesty that was Aftermath. Still weak plot, cardboard characters, wildly out-of-place Earth idioms... except this time Wendig poured in MORE political correctness/politics. His insistence on being a social justice warrior made the weak book that was Aftermath even more weak, and the effect continues here. Even if he had taken the high road away from that, Life Debt would be a mediocre entry in the new canon. I read this book to give Wendig a second chance. There will not be a third.

Eh. I mean it was better then the first Aftermath but I just can't get into this authors style of writing.....
