Liquid Cool (The Cyberpunk Detective Series) by Austin Dragon Book Summary

The Sci-Fi Detective Thriller Gets Cool...Liquid Cool!

Liquid Cool Book #1 is the FIRST-IN-SERIES action-packed (and funny) sci-fi detective series.

Meet a private eye with a cool hat, laser gun, and attitude. But don't touch his red hovercar -- or you could get shot!

Enter the high-tech, low-life world of Liquid Cool as Cruz faces off neon gangsters, sinister cyborgs, corporate samurai soldiers, and laser-gun shootouts while solving his cases in the rainy supercity of Metropolis. It's more gritty action and dark humor than you can handle.

In the debut novel that started it all, author Austin Dragon shows why you never want to meet a cyborg in a dark alley.

Liquid Cool is cyberpunk reimagined. It's cyber-noir. It's science fiction meets the detective thriller in an ever-rainy world of mega-skyscrapers. Hovercars fly above in the dark, bustling skies and gray people walk below on the grimy, flashy streets of this "neon jungle." Metropolis isn't a bad place, but it isn't a good one either. Uber-governments and megacorporations fight for control of the supercity, but so does crime.

It's here we meet Cruz, our private eye (and unlikely hero), in this supercity with a million victims and perpetrators.

Sci-Fi Gets Cool…Liquid Cool!

So grab Liquid Cool today and begin your action-filled and funny sci-fi detective adventure with Cruz and company!

˃˃˃FIVE STAR REVIEWS

"Lots of shooting, lots of crazy maniacs, lots of action and fun!"

"I loved this book. It takes place in the future, and what a weird future."

"A funny, intelligent (and sometimes crazy) main character…playing detective"

"Cool and Smooth."

"Too much fun!"

"This is probably one of the very best cyberpunk novels I've ever read!!"

"Page Turner. Constant excitement. The best in 35 years of reading!"

"Delicious Stew That Is Part Sci-Fi, Part Detective, and Part Humor – It is hard to combine two genres into one novel. It is even harder to combine three. Part of the trick…is to know when to back off on each single genre so that the combination, while less than full in any one genre, is a good combination. Austin Dragon uses that trick… this novel would get about three stars in each genre alone, but the combination well deserves five!"

Fantastic Start to Series. Though there is a prequel out that that gives a glimpse into this world, this is the first book in the cyberpunk detective series Liquid Cool. It does not end in a cliff hanger, but sets the stage for future books in the series. There is violence. The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. The author did a good job of keeping a steady pace throughout the book to keep this reader interested. It kept you guessing what twists and turns would be revealed in the pages ahead. And there are plenty of twists, turns, and surprises in this story. The world that the author describes is futuristic with towering mega skyscrapers, hover cars and trucks. The setting is Metropolis and it is always raining. As is typical in these cities, those with money live "up top" in the taller buildings and the wealth and legitimacy of most businesses go down from there to street level. (If you have seen the movie Blade Runner, you have a good idea about what I imagine it would be like.) The main character, Cruz, is the most unlikeliest of Private Consultants. He'd be a Private Investigator/Detective if he could afford to get the license. He is a mishmash of characteristics - obsessive about the classic bright red Pony hovercraft he restored, always wears a tan coat (in my head it's a trench coat like Columbo wore) and fedora hat, extreme germaphobe, and won't stop when he wants something. This is definitely a series that I want to continue reading! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. But I would have purchased the book if I hadn't.

Great book!. Such a good book. I was entertained through it all!

What a ride!. Hands down best futuristic private investigator story I’ve read. Funny, fast paced and imaginative beginning to end.

This is cyberpunk/cyber detective. This is a great story in a heckuva way to start out A series. Each one of them that you can read all the reviews and no matter what we tell you it’s not doing it justice. If you like cyberpunk type stories you were going to like this. Folks this is the story achieve you read this Siri I would say that it’s on par with like the hitchhikers guide series of books. That being you hold onto this series in you re-read it from beginning to end multiple times. Is your comedy in this there’s a few little when I took is light moments kind of jokingly picking at it in the book itself in the genre. But this is a straight forward detective story. Heck is it is I want to find out more about what happened to PJ because she changed so much within a couple of chapters. But that’s the thing is it’s designed to flesh out over multiple stories and so far I think there are six maybe we can get the author to write a seven or an 8. One that at the end of it ties everything up.

Sam Spade would recognize him!. When I first met Rick Deckhard in “Blade Runner”, I easily believed that here was the ultimate combination of mystery and sci-fi genres. Now I have had to revise my thinking. I have to give Austin Dragon my thanks for introducing me to Mr. Cruz who both Mr. Deckhard and Mr. Spade would both recognize as a kindred soul, a “Private Detective”.

Thoroughly enjoyable. Well-written, with a clever, and original storyline. I recommend.

Good read. At first I thought it was so so. I stoped reading it. Then for some reason I read the reviews again. They mostly liked the story, so what the hell, I started reading it again. I’m glad I did. I enjoyed the story and going to buy the next book.

Enjoyable Read. I wasn’t sure what I was getting into when I first started reading it, but I quickly became engrossed in the book and it kept me wanting more with the roller coaster like plot twist throughout the book. Really enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.

Best detective sci-fi ever. I highly recommend this book to others It was a really great book to read and It allows your imagination to run wild just imagining and visualizing everything for this book

Good times. It took me a little while to get into this book but once I did I couldn't put I down. Lots of fun.

Great Story. Story started out a little slow but once it picked up, it never stopped, the moment you think you understood what was going on something else would happen unexpectedly. A SyFy must read.

Liquid Cool. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Well written and edited.

Cool ride through the meanest streets. Austin Dragon takes readers on a breakneck paced tour through mega-city Metropolis, courtesy of reluctant Detective Cruz. Cruz was hired by a friend to find out why a mutual friend was killed. He takes the job, but is not certain he wants to make it a career. As a neophyte detective, Cruz makes brilliant deductions on par with Sherlock Holmes and handles every situation easily, from shoot outs to dinner with his hostile future in-laws. As Cruz struggles to get to the bottom of the case and decide if he wants to make the title of detective permanent, we get glimpses of an interesting take on future society along the way. I definitely enjoyed the ride, and would happily take another cruise with Mr. Dragon.

Great read. Couldn't put it down, had to finish!

Great read. I didn't know what to expect when I started this book. But as I got into it I found it exhilarating & fun.I highly recommend it! Truly a fine start to this series. By......poppabarry

Pretty good. I haven't read many cyberpunk genre books, I must say this was surprisingly refreshing, it kept me wanting to know what happened next. It was an easy read and there was great character development, can't wait to read the whole series.

Great read. Never read a cyberpunk book before. I am blag this was my 1st

Future detective. This is a fast moving, page turning (well, page swiping, but you know what I mean) who-dunnit in the classic mode, but set in the vast mega cities of the future. The lead protagonist has all the classic characteristics needed - man of the people, cool street language (which can't go out of date cos it's invented), and a major flaw. Every detective or PI needs a flaw - and this one is up front: OCD, germaphobe. It's something which has been in the media, especially stand up, so people have heard of it, but here the negative aspects of compulsion are balanced with the positive to make it a useful tool in the PIs armoury. I look forward to more, where can he possibly go from here? The man has conquered the streets, the police and the city bureaucracy. He may not have convinced his girl's parents though, and they are a piece of work. Some of the great characters are crying out to be developed and get more action, I am looking forward to it.

Reading this = enjoyment. Unusual way the main characters awe introduced at the start. They each have their own little chapter looking at life through their eyes. Then we arrive at Cruz and it's non stop excitement meets fun with thrills meeting a laid back would be detective.

Excellent. A little confusing until it settled down into Cruz' narrative, but excellent from then on.

Liquid Cool (The Cyberpunk Detective Series). What a great read! Lots of chuckles on every page as well as surprising twists and turns in the plot lines as the story unfolds. Fantastic bunch of characters ranging from the quirky to the bizarre. Hard to put down once you start, and I was sorry when I reached the end. I wanted more! Thank goodness there are more episodes, I can't wait to read them

A very good read. Very entertaining novel with plenty of twists and turns. Nothing to serious or complex, just a good read. After writing this, I am going to see if there are any more books by Austin Dragon available.

Liquid Cool.. Liquid Cool I've been reading science fiction for over fifty years and have found that it often has two strands. On the first are the often novel length analoges of the cowboys and Indians stories but set in a future interspace environment. The second strand consists of mostly short stories with a 'what if' theme based upon a small number of assumptions. It has been my experience that this second strand is intellectually more satisfying but that it is difficult to write a full length novel around these assumptions. In my option Liquid Cool is one of the best and most successful attempts to fuse both strands. The assumption that by law all people are provided with housing either by inheritance or alternatively by publicly supplied housing is an interesting and timely postulate. This then provides the backdrop for a series of interconnected stories that flesh out the remainder of the book. I enjoyed this Ebook and have placed it in my important folder. Thank you

Great Book!. I would recommend this book for ages 13+ it’s a very good mystery book, and series of books.

Good writing. Not too shabby for a first-time writer

Freaking kidding me?. This is a first novel? This book is as good as any piece of fiction the English language has to offer. I'll gladly read anything this author puts on paper or otherwise.

Liquid Cool. A sifi mystery that starts weird but ends up as a light and fun read for the price. Not a space drama.
