DNF. I know it's a fairly minor thing, but they kept on mentioning it, so you couldn't even take a breath and forget about it while you move on. It's quickly noted that he hasn't been home for about 20 years. Then says he's 24. Then says he stood on the stairs and watches *spoiler* happen, when he was 10 - and these are just a few of the time points in the first few chapters. So if we go off the main points... 14 years is not almost 20 years!
Excellent. How refreshing to have a historical romance take up the cudgel to slay the aristocratic bigotry of the times. I would go so far as to call this Faction, fiction based on fact because in historical reality we know this did happen. There were/are many sons sitting in the House of Lords who had no right of blood to be there, but it was accepted they were male. What happens when tables are turned and it is a woman who is innocent, slighted, shunned by the hypocrisy of that eras society and has her son taken from her. This story touches many facets of its era an enjoyable read of the two main characters Vaughan and Elisa, you cannot but help cheer right through to the last chapter. Thoroughly recommend it. 👍👍👍
