Girl With The Gun (A Sydney Rye Mystery, #8) by Emily Kimelman Book Summary

Letting go is an art.

And I am not an artist.

I'm a killer.

I don't kill for pleasure, though there is some of that. Lady Justice is tantamount to my god. I serve her single-mindedly, but there is no blindfold. I am prejudiced, human...so human.

Would the world be safer with me under lock and key? One less terrorist wreaking havoc. Or more dangerous? One less soldier fighting for justice.

Blue barked, pulling me from my thoughts. He pushed his large head against my hip, urging me toward the door with a soft whine. Mulberry stood in the hall.

"I wasn't expecting you," I said.

He didn't answer, just stepped closer so that our bodies brushed. His face was right above mine, his chin angled down, as I stared at his collarbones.

He fisted the short locks at the base of my skull and pulled gently so that my chin rose and our lips touched. His kiss was achingly familiar and electrifyingly new. The smell of him brought back memories I was afraid to face.

The pain of my brother's murder lanced through me; the paleness of his skin, the vivid red of his blood as he died—the gaping wound his loss left in me.

Everybody I love ends up dead. And not some gentle kiss into the night. They leave this world in violence and suffering; they end in misery.

I couldn't watch Mulberry die.

But did loving him and denying it hurt more than the grief I feared?

P.S. The dog does not die.

Beware: If you can't handle a few f-bombs, you can't handle this series.

Loved every word. Read every book and thoroughly enjoyed every word. I'm hoping there's a number nine coming...

The Girl With A Gun. Emily Kimelman did a home run with this 8th Sydney Rye book. I received a advanced copy so I could rate it. I enjoyed it immensely. It followed the 7 previous books but if you haven't read them you will still enjoy this book. I own the other 7 Sydney Rye books and I enjoyed this one so today I bought it. I don't buy a book that I have already read unless it is good. I finished the book in one sitting and wanted it for my collection. I would recommend The Girl with a Gun to anyone who likes a thriller, mystery and a woman hero with a dog, That is why I read the first one because it had a dog. Got hooked and now get any new ones. Enjoy.

The best yet!. This was a fantastic read! Quick, action packed and thrilling! New and well-known characters. As always Sidney and Blue lead and star in the story. Again, Ms. Kimelman brings real world issues to the page but leaves the reader with hope for our future. A reader must read the series in order but it is well worth the time. This book ends with what I hope is a cliff-hanger and not a final episode. I literally was holding my breath and then, it just ended. Please let there be another and soon! A must read!

The Girl with a Gun. Please tell me this is not the last of the Sydney Rye series, that she is not dead, just unconscious!! Great series! It has everything in it, excitement, adventure, mystery, humor!! A must read!

The Girl With The Gun by Emily Kimelman. I have read all of the books in this series of eight and enjoyed them all.

The girl with the gun. For review, recapping the novel's specific events is unnecessary but the reader should know that the story is intense, violent and emotional. In "The Girl with the Gun," the main character's past angst has become vocational searching worthy of her considerable, developed gifts, seeing that she is now an unworthy heroine among real heroines. She seeks validation, encouragement and direction from these women already firm in THEIR choices: necessary, but embraced, nationalistic patriotism and protection. Her character development is well presented; from sincere service and tragic choices, to wrestling with the reality of political compromises for the power to succeed in her vision to awaken, recruit and empower women oppressed by violence and war. Lots of general statements there, but the author actually carries the reader through this milieu with constant staccato writing, expressing the pressure of action, danger, direction, loyalty and betrayal in fluid Syrian-Turkish-Iraqi conflicts in August of 2016. Being male I hesitated to review this novel focusing on female equality. I respect Ms. Kimelman for her efforts and recognize that all of her novels have led Rye to this statement; the closing leaves the reader and Sydney Rye/Blue available for more.

The Girl With The Gun finished too soon!. Travel, a cold and the holidays have given me the luxury of time to read all eight Sidney Rye books in less than a month. Page turners each one, these books have been peopled with characters I've grown to care about. Sidney and her well trained dog, Blue, work with other vigilantes to bring justice to the oppressors, the slavers, and the other bad men in the world who think they can get away with abusing women and children. This book takes Sidney and Blue to the Kurdish area of Iraq, where she helps women fight for their country and their sisters' rights. Like the other books in the series, it's a well written page turner which satisfies the senses.

All Emily Kimilman books.,. What a good writer. I have read all the Sydney Rye series of eight books. You will want to read each one in one sitting without putting it down if you can. They are really action packed and leave you breathless to the end and you can't wait to read the next. I can't wait for the ninth one! Glenda Ramsey

Girl With a Gun by Emily Kimelman. Book 8 was the best!! I was given an advance copy to help clean up the manuscript's typo's and formatting errors. It was an impossible task. Who could worry about that while Sydney and a fantastic new cast were getting more and more enmeshed in an international attempt to breakdown prejudice against women? I did go back and find a few typo's, but mostly I enjoyed the breakneck pace of this exciting story! You will too!

The Girl With The Gun. The saga of Sydney Rye continues, along with her dog, Blue, in a contemporary, real world setting. Fast pace, great characters, and life changing questions are answered in ways you won't expect. Great read.

THE GIRL WITH A GUN. This is book 8 in the SYDNEY RYE series by Emily Kimelman. When Sydney turns herself in to Homeland Security, to protect a project she founded in the Middle East. When the director is killed, and she is kidnapped. With her dog Blue she is in the war zone, now being hunted. Who is a friend or foe. Another gripping story by Emily. Given ARC for honest opinion, of which I have given.

The Girl With A Gun. Nice read!!!!

Best Plot Twist Yet!!!!. I received this early ARC for a honest review. Honestly I let this book take me on a journey. There was a combination of stories going on that I felt each was leading me somewhere that stated at one place and knew that the whole thing would be shook up at the end. Sydney and Robert, Sydney and Mulberry, Mulberry and Sandy. I mean wow. Not to leave anyone else out because it was just a lot of feelings going around. April. I know I didn't like her after all the crap she has done in the past but I am letting her grow on me. Her message is a simple message that is a struggle everyone faces. One that has been a war from the beginning of time. What is our value with god? What should we believe? Very powerful questions. To see April stand up and take charge. I was very proud of her. Even if the Sydney stuff doesn't pan out. Questions I scream at the book at some point. What the hell is going on with Sydney? Will we find "HER" ? How much Brain damage can this girl have? Mulberry??? really??? I am so ugh. WHAT is Sydney going to do about Mulberry? ( I am kind of glad how it ended now) As you can see I had a bunch of stuff going on for this book. So many Feelings. I was confused as to how I wanted it to end. I wanted to stop at one point and cry because I knew that the journey I thought we where on had changed and I was scared the ending was going to be worse then any I thought of. I did reread the ending twice because I am up in the air with how I feel. It was a plot twist for sure. I feel going into the next book we will be getting a new life and different growth for Sydney. I am leaving out so much. Yes, you should read this book. You will loose your mind if you don't. Go back and pick up them all and binge read them.

Girl with a gun. It was an excellent read, full of action and intrigue. I read all of the previous books and enjoyed them all. Definitely not for children.

Emily Kimelman fan. This book doesn't disappoint. I envy the reader who is just discovering this author and can binge read the series like a Netflix junkie. It's hard to put down. There is another wild ride of adventure in this story with complex characters, a twisted story and the clever balance of bravery and humility. I think I will go back to the first book and reread the series. Thank you Emily K. for the wonderful read.

Great Read!. If you like action packed stories and a dog featured in it, you will love this book! As for me I have to go download the next book to see the rest of the story!

The girl with the gun, awesome story!. This was the best thriller I’ve read this year. The characters were very real and the story was pedal to the metal beginning to end. Kept me up most of the night. Highly recommended. Rich

The Girl With The Gun. This is a great novel with strong, compelling, likable women. The reality of current times and circumstances added to the reading experience. Keep up the good work because there will never be too many good writers!

The Girl with the Gun. A page-turner from start to finish. I have had a wonderful long-weekend re-reading the Sydney Rye books - all I need to do now is buy In Sheep’s Clothing to be right up to date. Seldom do you find an anarchic (person who causes chaos) female protagonist who you truly relate to. Who could relate to someone like Sydney - me, for one! I quite enjoy creating chaos but, as I am in a wheelchair following a spinal injury and have a cat rather than an incredible dog called Blue, I certainly could not emulate her. Emily Kimelman has created a brilliant group of characters and her descriptions of even those who you meet only briefly are enough to create individuals who stand out as just that, individual. Thank you Emily for creating the world of Sydney.

The Girl with the Gun. Yet another fast paced and exciting story, a true continuation of a brilliant partnership. Thrilling and amusing and it leaves you wanting more, I really recommend this writer to anyone who wants a compelling story. First class yet again.
