Completely entertaining. I found this to be an excellent book and completely entertaining. The characters in this one are troubled, David more than Maygen, but striving everyday to live life to the fullest. David struggles daily with issues of PTSD but there is something about Maygen that just being around her calms him and is issues aren't quite as troubling. Maygen has lived her life under the domineering and overprotective thumb of her father. She's now trying to take control of her life and doesn't want anyone trying to control her again. When fate puts David in her path she feels blessed. There's an attraction between them that can't be denied and she feels secure with him. That is until lies and secrets are revealed that shatter all the trust she had placed in him. Will he ever be able to get her to forgive him?? This book is very well done and it's one I highly recommend.

Passion and Suspense. This is the third book in the True Heros series and each book is a standalone, although all the characters are interconnected. This engaging story has many of the things I love in a book and it pulled at many of my emotions. It has great writing, a riveting plot, sizzling chemistry, a protective male and an independent female. This is an emotional, highly charged, well written story that pulled me in immediately and the characters are realistic and easy to connect with. David Cavello served in the Army and was stationed in Iraq. Now that he is no longer in the Army, he suffers from PTSD and is having a hard time adjusting to civilian life. He is a tormented man dealing with demons and secrets. David and Maygen meet by chance when he runs into her on the sidewalk and they both feel an instant connection. David enjoys spending time with Maygen but he is confused by his strong feelings for her. Whenever he is with her, she calms him and for the first time since returning from Iraq, David starts to feel better. Unfortunately, David has some secrets that he is afraid to share with Maygen, he worries they will scare her away and he doesn't want to lose her. David knows he is not good enough for Maygen and he should leave her alone but he can't. Maygen Whitney is beautiful, sweet and trusting; she is the light to David's dark. Although Maygen is attracted to David, he also scares her. She has never had such strong feelings for anyone and she realizes he is a broken man with issues and she wonders if she can trust him with her heart. Both characters care about each other but have a lot of things going against them. DARK CORNERS has an intriguing plot line and is filled with suspense and passion. A compelling read. This story sucked me in from the beginning. The emotional pull of David's PTSD and Maygen's desire to help him pulled at my heart. There were times when I smiled, when I laughed, and when I cried. The danger that is following Maygen had me guessing who it could be. This was a very enjoyable story, and I highly recommend it. I hope there is more to this series. I received a copy through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited, honest review.

A very charming David. So far this is the best of the sandalone series. Despite the heavy subject of PTSD that David suffers, he was very charming. The banter with him and Maygen was fun and I wanted more of it. If we didn't have such a heavy subject weighing it down, I would have had lots of fun with this story. Maygen was a great heroine. She was strong, independent and truly there for David when he suffered. She also knew when to back off, which I greatly appreciate in a heroine. Clingy women are one of my pet peeves and I was glad to see that while she was there for him, she also knew her own boundaries. There was no other women or men drama to deal with, no cheating, but not a small amount of pushing away from David due to his PTSD. Despite the pushing away, this was a very good story. Passion and suspense. After having read Glass Ceilings, I was excited to be able to read David's story in this book. Ms Madden addressing PTSD here through her main character was genius in bringing attention to what plagues so many service men and women returning from war. That David recognized his PTSD but refused treatment, yet was studying to be a Psychologist was a study in contradictions. The imagery of David's sufferings were exemplary...I could almost feel his tension, his anger, his angst over the loss of his friend, and most of all his growing need for Maygen. I don't think anyone could describe desire better than this author...in just a few words, in my mind's eye, I was seeing exactly what Maygen experienced each time she saw David: "...My mouth went dry, my palms began to sweat, and I could feel desire furl within me like a piece of paper touching a flame." Then there was David and his wry sense of humor, what a crack up He was...his quips were hilarious in not only their content, but the delivery was pitch perfect. Lastly the unexpected twists and turns of suspense were gripping, keeping me on the edge the entire time. What and who were completely a surprise, which enriched the reading experience that much more. This book was provided by the Publisher and NetGalley, I am voluntarily providing my honest review

Third book is the charm! Loved it!. I love this True Hero’s series, but so far, this is my favorite book in the series! It can be read as a standalone, the characters from the previous books are involved in this story, but it’s not necessary to know the history, it just adds a richness to the overall story. David and Maygen are amazing together! The story had twists I didn’t see coming so I was surprised quite a few times as the story unfolded! There are so many feels in this book. I had the stomach plummets, the heart burn and a lump in my throat. I loved every minute of it and I couldn’t put it down. Maygen is an awesome heroine. She is strong, loving, feisty and isn’t afraid to fight for David, until he betrays her trust. David is working through PTSD on his own, refusing to take medication and therapy until he figures out he can’t live without his light (Maygen) to light his dark corners. He returns to therapy and tries to win Maygen back, even if is just as a friend because he needs her in his life. I won’t tell you anymore and I highly recommend this book. It has suspense, great banter, colorful friends and family to add spice to story, steamy sexy times, and a sweet love story.
