Excellent Read!. This is a well written love story with morals & life lessons mixed in. It flows well.

Definitely Worth Reading. I thought the two leads were likable and sympathetically written. I also appreciated that it wasn’t as predictable as I thought it was going to be and that the characters not being rich (as they are in many romances) added a unique element. I found the dialogue to be occasionally hokey, but not enough to take away from my overall enjoyment. The steam factor wasn’t to my liking, but I definitely like my romances naughtier and I won’t take a star away over a pure personal preference.

great start to a new series. The story-line's intriguing with two main characters the reader comes to know and love quickly. As a result, I became invested in their lives and how they would resolve their problems; rooting for them all along the way. Ridley crafted Anthony's character with caring, a winsome personality, fortitude, and morals; he's a first class hero for Charlotte. Although a gambler, Anthony shoulders responsibilities few in the ton know of. His life has been Gambling was Anthony's means of providing for his family. Ridley skillfully portrayed how addictions grab an individual and take over their life. I felt so sorry for the life Charlotte had lived; from the time she could understand her situation, she knew she was different. Ridley skillful. Ridley's writing was so clear and vivid, I could feel Charlotte and Anthony's emotions, as a result, my emotions ran high as I read of their lives and ambitions. Both main characters, Anthony and Charlotte, were looking for acceptance and security; it was wonderful to watch their characters grow and mature as the story progressed. Finally, in concluding my reviews for regency romance novel, Lord Of Chance, I found a solid story-line with well-developed characters and pacing smooth and steady. LORD OF CHANCE RECOMMENDATION: STARS 4 As usual, Ridley has crafted a first class regency romance which provides hours of entertainment; perfect for an afternoon of relaxation in your favorite chair. In addition, I found Lord Of Chance suitable for young adults and adults. I look forward to the next novel in this series. Additionally, I purchased this book and chose to voluntarily review the book with an honest reviews for regency romance book/novel, Lord Of Chance.

Can't put down. This is a can't put down read. Very well written and fast paced. Nice to see that she goes into the mind of how hard it is to cold turkey quit an addiction (gambling)

So so … predictable, no humor. Needed some pizazz. Some spark. Some twist or turn.

A great read. This was another good one from Erica Ridley. The story was engaging and fast moving with some really good twists to keep it exciting. As I was reading it, I found myself trying to figure out how she was going to write her way out of the plot line that seemed stuck. And yet she did, masterfully. A truly enjoyable read.

Lord of Chance. Such a lovely, sweet story. The ever kind and humble Anthony and Charlotte are characters I grew to love very quickly. Important for me in all Ridley books is the humor she weaves throughout her stories. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

A Chance Worth Taking. Charlotte Devon is in Scotland searching for her father and running from the stigma of being a courtesan’s illegitimate daughter. Anthony Fairfax is running from his creditors and the possibility of debtor’s prison. Both of them seek acceptance and love. When he escorts her to her room at the end of the day, they stay in the corridor just long enough for someone to question their being together. In an attempt to avoid scandal, they claim to be married. What neither of them knows is that in Scotland, if you say it in front of others, you are indeed man and wife. They travel back to London hoping to find solutions to their problems, so they can have a happy marriage. Lord of Chance is an enjoyable story. The plot is well written and realistic, and holds the reader’s attention from beginning to end. The main characters are absolutely loveable. Charlotte and Anthony are a perfect fit. He is cheerful and optimistic and she is ever practical. They will work hard for what they want. In the end, they may be surprised where true luck and fortune can be found. This is a great beginning to a new series that promises to be every bit as good as Erica’s Dukes of War. I received a copy of this book from Net Galley. The opinions in the review are my own.

Easy read. Easy read. I love my books with a bit more steam. Also very repetitive, but other than that an entertaining read.

Loved it. Anthony Fairfax was just too charming. I absolutely adore him. I would give it a 5 if not for some instances of repeated thoughts. Overall, it was a great read that I finished in about 2 or 3 nights :)

Lord of chance. Really really really liked this book. Kept me interested from page 1. Loved the characters. Anthony stayed positive throughout the book. Charlotte is kind hearted. Very heart felt.

Pretty good story!. The author is very creative. This book kept me interested all the way through to the end. I wish that the sex scenes weren’t so graphic though. I would give it five stars if it was clean enough to read to my kids.

Lord of Chance. Erica has hit the bullseye with this book. It pulled me right into the story. I would recommend this to anyone to read. This is a new story line for me. Charlotte was gambling to find her father in Scotland. Anthony was gambling to win to stay out of prison. Major Spoiler! He has two men following to be sure he can pay his debts. Major Spoiler! She tells them that Anthony is her husband and he says it back too. They now know that they are truly married in another hand fast! Spoiler! They go back to London as she finds out her father has put her in his Will just before he died. Major Spoiler! Anthony tries to talk to his friend to give him more time. NOT! He gets his debt from another friend who will back him up. Meanwhile Charlotte is listening to the reading of the Will. Will they make it together! Will Charlotte see if she is in the Will? I liked this book. It was hard to put down. You may learn some Scottish rules. Please don't let this get away from you. You won't regret it! I volunteered to read and review this book.

Love of chance fabulous read. With intricate story line

Rogues to Riches Lord of Chance. I loved it. It was a little different than normal regency romances; there were no balls or gowns. Instead there was adventure, mystery, humor and repartee not to mention romance, of course. Great read.

Enjoyable!. I just started to read novels and this is the first one of Ericas’ I’ve read. Enjoyed the story and the characters. Well written.

Enjoyable. This predictable, easy read is a pleasant way to waste some time.

A gentle romance. A relaxing & pleasant read.

A very interesting read. This story involves Charlotte and Anthony. They both seem to have insurmountable problems. They both have very little money and Anthony, although charming, has a gambling addiction. Charlotte also has a secret. They inadvertently find themselves married, but can love find a way through all their difficulties? This is a very enjoyable story and I look forward to reading about the other rogues.

Lord of Chance. I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review. When this book started I thought it would be another story of a dissolute lord with a gambling habit. It is so much more. It is about a man who has only known the highs and lows caused by success or failure at gambling. He comes from a family who don't have any ability to behave responsibly with money. The story is about how love can actually change people for the better. It is quite different from similar books in the genre but well worth reading. Would recommend it to anyone who likes books that don't follow the norm. I really enjoyed it.

Can’t update to read it. I can’t even read this book because it won’t update in app. I’ve tried every thing and still nothing. I now have 12 books that need updating but won’t because it keeps saying iTunes can’t process it and its been like that for 2weeks.

Taking a chance with the Lord of Chance!!!. An enjoyable story, the reader feels the connection between Charlotte and Anthony even though she wants to find her elusive father she can't help but fall for the charming Anthony- he's running from creditors and chasing Lady Luck and she's running from a reputation not of her making, all she wants is to belong and to be viewed as someone of worth. What they got in return was not in the cards for either of them. Received an ARC from the author for my honest opinion

Once I started reading, I wasn't able to put it down. Once I started reading, I wasn't able to put it down. Charlotte and Anthony are completely charming together. The sweet flirtation and witty banter they exchange is delightful and kept me laughing from their very first encounter. I'm finding it difficult to put into words my thoughts about this book. There's a lot of story here, but because of the sweetness and laughter it all felt very light. It touches on some big, heavy topics like addiction and acceptance but it stays away from the dark places it could have gone with those. I love that we get the opportunity to revisit some of our favorite characters from the Dukes of War series, to see what's happened since we left them. I'm also trying very hard to be patient while waiting for our next Rogue. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
