Wow. Best book i have read since game of thrones. I was always curious about thrawn especially when i was in rebels, but now he will eventually be live action i wanted to know more. If you love Star Wars this book is a must read.

This book is life. I absolutely LOVE this book. Everything was interesting and clever.

Amazing. I knew very little about Thrawn before I saw him in Rebels. But I instantly gravitated towards him as much as I did Tarkin. This novel is amazing in painting a picture from a different point of view about the Empire.

Greatest villain and hero of the Star Wars series.. Thrawn is by far my favorite storyline and this book did not disappoint. I was so excited that Disney decided to bring him back. Makes me hope the rumored Thrawn movie is really going to happen.

Astounding!. Timothy Zahn hasn't skipped a beat. If you are a fan of the Thrawn trilogy, you will love this! This is Thrawn's book and I can't say enough about it!

Exciting Star Wars Novel. I loved this book! I find it challenging to find a book that really keeps me captivated and looking to continue but Thrawn was very entertaining. Strategy and tactically inclined. Of Star Wars, I have read this and Catalyst. Thrawn was memorable and I’m excited to start Book 2!

Forget the Thrawn you THOUGHT you knew. I absolutely LOVED this book, and can’t wait for the follow-up later this year. This one changed how you look at and think about Thrawn. He’s not the heartless villain of pure evil that I had once thought, but he IS every bit as ruthless and cunning as advertised. You just can’t help but admire the character which speaks volumes to the author’s work in developing him. Made me want to re-watch every episode of Rebels where Thrawn appears, because now everything he does or has done is seen in entirely different light.

Great read!. It was nice learning more about Thrawn! He is a tactical genius. I loved the book it was a great read! Some parts can get a little confusing or drawn out, but I guess it has to be to really understand how Thrawn thinks. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good read that is part of the new cannon.

Thrawn. The untold rise of Grand Admiral Thrawn now revealed. Timothy Zahn has created a wonderful story that reveals some of Thrawn's origins with the Imperial Navy which does not conflict with either the Legends brand or the new canon. If I were to sum it up to someone who knows nothing about him and has only seen the Star Wars movies - Sherlock Holmes in Star Wars. For anyone who has read the "Heir to the Empire" trilogy and enjoyed it, this purchase is a no brainer. It was a pleasure to read another tale of Thrawn by Zahn. I hope there are more to come.

Dull. This is simply put a dull read. Don’t waste your money.

For the Star Wars nerd within you.. As a fan of Star Wars since 8, this brought a whole new character to me. I didn’t get that much into the EU but I dabbled but I never came across Thrawn until Rebels. This book has 2 great stories from 2 different people wanting to achieve power in different branches. It has great tips on war in the beginning of each chapter that helps you to understand why both Thrawn and Pryce do certain actions. I loved this book and would highly recommend it.

Best book so far. Timothy Zahn should write all Star Wars books

Amazing. To those wondering if they should dedicate the time and money, just do it. Extremely well written, easily able to read, and also let’s you explore the star wars universe in new points of view than just through the Jedi and Sith. Politics to tactics, it was fun to read this adventure.

SUPERB!. This is one of those rare books where it’s perfectly okay to root for the bad guys because there are far worse things opposing them. This book details the Chiss alien Thrawn’s rise to power and his faithful aide Eli Vanto. It also tells the story of a young woman named Arhinda Pryce. The story is a book you just can’t put down (except maybe for a snack). Personally, I like the little quotes at the beginning of each chapter as well.

Best book ever. This was the first Timothy Zahn book I have read and it was amazing! I’m a huge fan of Thrawn and this book made me a even bigger fan

A fun read, could have been more interesting. I loved the original series of thrawn books that take place ABY. I kept expecting the depth and twists and turns of that series, but this book never really got there. There wasn't a big reveal or shocking moment through out, it sort of plodded along and ended without a lot of excitement. Probably won't read this one again.

Turbo boast trilogy. No matter how much I read it gets better and better the trilogy of a lifetime

Superb!. One of the best characters in the Star Wars universe. Can’t wait to see him in a future film or series!! An excellent book that shows how smart and capable the Chiss are.

The fine folks at Grand Moff Talkin' proudly recommend!. The context and nuance heaped upon Thrawn AS WELL AS Governor Pryce will please fans of Star Wars and Rebels alike! Hopefully we'll touch on this book in future episodes of the Grand Moff Talkin' podcast, but as for now, this is a wonderful read!

Star Wars Must Read. I never read the original Thrawn books, but I did know that he was a beloved character before being introduced to Rebels. While I enjoy Rebels, the tone of the show is definitely catered towards a younger audience. The Thrawn novels offer older fans a stronger sampling of mature storytelling. Eli is relatable and a unique Star Wars character in dealing with his imposter syndrome. I loved getting into Thrawn’s head and all of the surprising twists that followed. He is truly a compelling character. Any older Star Wars Rebels fans MUST read this trilogy. (I also enjoyed Governor Pryce making silly choices the whole book).

Fantastic. This is just a great book, and I reccomend that any star wars fan read it. Other than a moment or two where I was a little confused (and I recognize that could have been my own fault where I could have missed something), It was just incredible. I’m grateful that Timothy Zahn has created this character and this wonderful story.

Great Book!. It was amazing to learn about Thrawn’s beginnings. The book is well written and was exciting. There were days I couldn’t wait to start reading.

Possibly Zahn's Best!. It's funny that the information line of the book calls Thrawn a villain, because I would say that's the last thing he is, must like this book really shows that the Empire isn't inherently evil. That's what makes this book so engrossing and hard to put down. You don't just follow Thrawn and his rise to power; along that journey, Zahn reveals the inner workings of the Empire, and shows that after the events of Episode III, life went on like normal for a period of time. It's not just a character study/origin of Thrawn and Price, but a deep look into the bureaucracy of the Imperial Navy, ISB, etc.. This is a must read for any Star Wars fan. You won't be able to put it down.

Fav character. Since the finale of Rebels, I became interested in learning more of Thrawn; how he became a Grand Admiral, and how he’s the only non-human in the empire to achieve such a great rank. This book really got me invested and introduced me to more characters I ended up enjoying throughout the story. Really recommend if you’re interested in Thrawn’s past. Because of this book, he is my all time favorite Star Wars character.

Amazing Admiral Thrawn!!. I first have to begin by saying how sad I am that the original Thrawn books are no longer Canon. HOWEVER!! Timothy Zahn has outdone himself in bringing Thrawn back to the Star Wars universe with even more depth, cunning and intelligence than before! You will not be disappointed!

Best of the trilogy. An enjoyable read that chronicles Thrawn’s journey over several years through the Imperial ranks while simultaneously fleshing out Arihnda Pryce by providing her backstory as well. Loved the growth of both her and Thrawn’s aide, Eli Vanto over the course of the novel.

Excellent Book. Timothy Zahn does a very good job bridging the old canon and the new with this book. The characters are well written, the plot straight forward and the development of he story well defined. Could not ask for a better addition to the Star Wars galaxy of books.

Couldn’t put it down. I finished this book rather quickly, as I read it every conceivable moment that I could. I loved Thrawn in what is now the “Legends” brand, and was overjoyed to see him reintroduced in the Star Wars Rebels TV series. So getting to know more about his reincarnation into canon once more was everything I expected it to be, and then more! I loved that they allowed Timothy Zahn back to do this book, and I’m looking forward to reading the following book involving Thrawn as well!

A great introduction to a legendary character. The origin story of Thrawn and his introduction to the empire is an absolutely fascinating read. If you are a fan of Thrawn from the clone wars, this book is a must read. Highly recommended! This book will give you all the extra details, making you fall in love with this masterful tactician even more!

Zahn is simply the best Star Wars author. Even though his previous Star Wars books are now "Legend", Zahn's writing style and obvious love for his topic shine through in this new "canon" story. You won't regret reading anything he pens. His earlier works are long considered the best of the Expanded Universe (besides the X-Wing series) and this one will stand amongst them as the best of the New universe.

Great book. Just reading the sample justifies this as book for Star Wars enthusiasts like me. The attention seeking hooks are outstanding, I just can get enough of it. I love the introduction on powerful assets of the Empire such as… Emperor Palpatine or The Imperial Royal Guard its just satisfying. So in conclusion if you are looking for an amazing Star Wars book or just something to get into I highly recommend this Author & Book.
