For Now and Forever (The Inn at Sunset Harbor—Book 1) by Sophie Love Book Summary

“Sophie Love's ability to impart magic to her readers is exquisitely wrought in powerfully evocative phrases and descriptions….FOR NOW AND FOREVER is the perfect romance or beach read, with a difference: its enthusiasm and beautiful descriptions offer an unexpected attention to the complexity of not just evolving love, but evolving psyches. It's a delightful recommendation for romance readers looking for a touch more complexity from their romance reads.”
--Midwest Book Review (Diane Donovan)

“FOR NOW AND FOREVER is a very well written novel, describing the struggle of a woman (Emily) to find her true identity. The author did an amazing job with the creation of the characters and her description of the environment. The romance is there, but not overdosed. Kudos to the author for this amazing start of a series that promises to be very entertaining.”
--Books and Movies Reviews, Roberto Mattos

Emily Mitchell, 35, living and working in New York City, has struggled through a string of failed relationships. When her boyfriend of 7 years takes her out for their long-awaited anniversary dinner, Emily is sure that this time will be different, that this time she will finally get the ring.

When he gives her a small bottle of perfume instead, Emily knows the time has come to break up with him—and for her entire life to have a fresh start.

Reeling from her unsatisfying, high-pressure life, Emily decides she needs a change. She decides on a whim to drive to her father’s abandoned home on the coast of Maine, a sprawling, historic house where she’d spent magical summers as a child. But the house, long-neglected, is in dire need of repair, and the winter is no time to be in Maine. Emily hasn’t been there in 20 years, when a tragic accident changed her sister’s life and shattered her family. Her parents divorced, her father disappeared, and Emily was never able to bring herself to step foot in that house again.

Now, for some reason, with her life reeling, Emily feels drawn to the only childhood place she ever knew. She plans on going just for a weekend, to clear her head. But something about the house, its numerous secrets, its memories of her father, its oceanfront allure, its small-town setting—and most of all, its gorgeous, mysterious caretaker—doesn’t want to let her leave. Can she find the answers she’s been looking for here, in the most unexpected place of all?

Can a weekend become a lifetime?

FOR NOW AND FOREVER is book #1 in the debut of a dazzling new romance series that will make you laugh, make you cry, will keep you turning pages late into the night—and will make you fall in love with romance all over again.

Book #2 is also now available!

Could’ve been great, but ended up frustrating. The premise of the book was good, but the execution of the plot was not. There were many details overlooked and holes in the plot made things seem unrealistic. After months or years, Daniel and Emily manage to be surprised by a hidden BALLROOM in the house, and a hidden SWIMMING POOL in the barn. By the end of the book Emily still hardly knows anything about Daniel. Emily arrives in Maine seemingly unprepared for winter weather, but she came with all of her suitcases from New York! I was rooting for Emily to stay and open the B&B, but really…it isn’t even her house! What happened to her father?!

For Now And Forever. Did not want to put it down.

For Now and Forever. This was a free book I downloaded from my BookBub. It was GREAT! Fast paced and exciting to read!! It was first of three books. I can't wait to read the other two!! I had not heard of this author before but will looking for more of her books in the near future!

The cover is misleading. It was a boring read. The plot was drawn out and the characters were almost unlikeable which may have been the point but it was so predictable and just flopped when it could have been so much better. I don't want to continue reading this series because it's clear it will only draw out the main characters dramas and come to a predictable happy ending with no real twists. To me, it's missing that element of intrigue that really makes you want to keep reading. Like why not play more into the neighbor setting the fire by reminding them they tossed the damaged toaster after the storm or him bringing it up at the meeting meant he knew more than he should... SOMETHING!

Intriguing. A much different kind of book with all the mystery and intrigue. Most kids remember back to at least 7 or 8 years old and some earlier than that. But for whatever reason, Emily has trouble with some of her memories that finally start surfacing when she decides to stay in her parent’s summer home. Her relationship with Daniel was strained at first, but was moving along nicely along with the B & B plans. Ready to dive into book #2, but wish they weren’t all “cliff hangers”.

Love it. This book was very refreshing. Not too predictable and not too uncertain. I like that about romance novels. I found a few grammatical errors, none to fret over. This was a very well written book.

Ugh. Way too many inconsistencies.. First, who abandons a house for 20 years and thinks it would be livable to vacation in? Then, who boards up windows on the inside of the house? 🙄 Not to mention, there are no moths flying around lights after a 3' snowstorm and, how exactly does one not know about a secret ballroom with beautiful stained glass windows on the main floor of the house? I just couldn't go any further without shutting off my brain. I did kinda want to know what happened to the dad but not enough.

Hate too,!!. It’s was so boring .. the two main characters have no chemistry . Then 6 month later ? We never hard the ex again ? Then she sleep with Daniel . Then book skip to the next chapter? It never explain what happened to the father . The covers is misleading.

Clearly never been to New England. I bailed on this book after about 50 pages. As the character drives from the city, through New England to get to Maine, the descriptions of the terrain were LAUGHABLE. 'As she crossed the border into New Hampshire, the trees fell away and she saw sprawling open spaces as far as the eye could see?!?!?!' Really? Have you ever BEEN to New Hampshire? There are trees as far as the eye can see. I can't be bothered to waste my time reading rubbish when there are so many other free books out there that were clearly written by people who did a minute or two of research.....

For now and forever. I got frustrated with the main character. She throws her shoes out of the car, has no coat going to Maine in winter, drives a car for 8+ hours that is a clunker and been in storage for years, doesn’t eat for days, etc. Very frustrating. What happened to her father? I was hoping for an answer.

For Now and Forever. I loved the setting, the characters, and the story, but I guess I’m just a stickler for accuracy and there were a couple of places where the writer must have forgotten what she’d written before! For example: Emily threw her jacket and heels out the window on her way out of town, but later wore her suit jacket with jeans! How can you have a secret ballroom with a stained glass window and not be able to see it from the outside? And if Emily had not been in hers and Charlotte’s room in 20 years, who took the boards off the windows? The huge storm: strong enough to make tree limbs fall and windows break, and barns collapse, but not strong enough to blow the blooms off the rose bushes? Not likely! And after such a storm, the ground would be saturated and muddy, yet they laid on the ground in the rose garden. Gnat bites for sure, but attention to details just makes the story more believable! All that said, I’m about to download Book 2!

The Inn at Sunset Bay. Great story. Well told, but just a tad too pat.

Inspiring. This story leaves you with hope, inspiration and motivation. As a romance novel it is not just about two people falling in love and living happily ever after, it’s about so much more. It’s about letting go of an unfulfilling life for personal liberation, gratification, and owning your own happiness despite the many obstacles that life brings and never giving up on what’s worthwhile. I finished this story in one day and although it’s an easy read it is not without its pivotal moments that keep you wanting to know what happens next.

Love it!. Was swept away and totally into this book. I even cried and that’s not typical for me. Can’t wait to read the others - wish it was available as a full box set!

Great read. I could not put it down!

Seems like author wants more money. The books are more like novellas. Seems like they could have been combined together to make a substantial three part series. The story is fine but gets redundant with Emily’s whining and lack of trust.

Quick easy read. I thought this was a quick, easy read. I got totally involved and loved the story. I immediately downloaded and read the second one after this. You must keep reading!

Fantastic start. This is a fantastic start to this series. Emily returns to her father’s house in Maine, after she breaks up with her boyfriend of seven years and quits her job. She’s only planning to stay for a short time, but plans have a way of changing. Daniel is the caretaker of the house and lives in the carriage house on the property. Will they become friends even though he says he doesn’t need more friends? Grab your copy and see what happens in the start of this series.

Really good. This is a really good book. Its all about self discovery and love discovery. I'll probably read it again at some point

Too many unbelievable situations. This book had potential but like other reviews I also was annoyed but unbelievable situations. She’s barefoot driving in a blizzard? Where is an old man going at midnight? She gets so angry at the littlest things I don’t know why Daniel keeps coming back! I can’t believe I finished it.

The Now and Forever. This was an excellent read. The main character was really great. Leaving New York, her job and her friends. Took on a vacant family home, that needed work, .fell in Love and gained the friendship of the townspeople and created a way to open a business and refurbish the Home she remembered as a young girl into a wonderful B & B. Thank You

Unbelievable. I couldn’t finish the book. The main character was unbelievable, childish and petty. She made me angry in the first chapter. It seemed unrealistic. Sorry this book was too much for me.

Loved It. Easy read. Characters were complex enough to be believable. Great story. Looking forward to reading more.

Can’t wait for the next one. Awesome series. Will keep reading

Now and forever. Very good. Can't wait for more but must wait for free ones. Am on fixed income. Love to read,

Amazing!!. This book was the best I've read in a while! It is sweet, romantic, and realistic which I found incredibly refreshing. Emily is a very relatable main character, and now I have to read the rest of the series!

Love this book!. The best book I have read in a very long time! I couldn’t put it down. Going to start the 2nd book right now.

Couldn’t finish. I couldn’t even finish this book. I got halfway through it. I found myself barely skimming most of it because the author put in a lot of boring, useless words. The characters are supposed to be in their mid thirties but act like they’re 18. The main character is a nitwhit. Seriously, this book just goes on and on about nothing. I feel like the nonexistent storyline is going nowhere.

Bad. Like the worst Lifetime movie ever made

A light read.. The story was predictable. My main discontent with the book was that it was missing common sense. In the book there are shutters on the windows on the inside of the house….shutters are to protect windows from breaking during storms so they go on the outside. Likewise a girl living in NYC would own a coat. It gets cold there as well as snowy. Just so many small details made this story seem not well thought out.

Easy reading perfect book for the beach. Emily goes back to a small town she went with her parents as a child to the house her father bought. There she meets Daniel and together they bring the old house back to its beautiful self. An excellent story line showing courage and love. The characters are perfect and the story line leaves you wanting more…..

☺️. I feel so warm and fuzzy inside lol...time for part 2

Enjoyable read. An enjoyable story, the first in a Series, introducing the main characters and their journey towards each other.

Not impressed. Unbelievable storyline, huge secret room, with windows but no one knew it was there?! Two people renovating a huge house with limited funds and no experience, don’t think so. Lots of unanswered questions in the prose too. Not a fan, glad it was a free book.
