Walk of Shame by Lauren Layne Book Summary

USA TODAY BESTSELLER • Sparks fly between a misunderstood New York socialite and a cynical divorce lawyer in this lively standalone rom-com from the author of Blurred Lines and Love Story.

Pampered heiress Georgianna Watkins has a party-girl image to maintain, but all the shopping and clubbing is starting to feel a little bit hollow—and a whole lot lonely. Though Georgie would never admit it, the highlights of her week are the mornings when she comes home at the same time as her uptight, workaholic neighbor is leaving to hit the gym and put in a long day at the office. Teasing him is the most fun Georgie’s had in years—and the fuel for all her naughtiest daydreams.

Celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney doesn’t have much time for women, especially spoiled tabloid princesses who spend more time on Page Six than at an actual job. Although Georgie’s drop-dead gorgeous, she’s also everything Andrew resents: the type of girl who inherited her penthouse instead of earning it. But after Andrew caps one of their predawn sparring sessions with a surprise kiss—a kiss that’s caught on camera—all of Manhattan is gossiping about whether they’re a real couple. And nobody’s more surprised than Andrew to find that the answer just might be yes.

Love love love this book. Such a simple storyline, but fun and sweet. And hot. I rarely want to read a book multiple times, but this book is an exception.

LOVE. Love love love! I can’t get enough of this book!

Truly Delightful. As with each book Ms Layne writes, I was captivated from the onset, drawn in to the nature of the characters creating emotions in an instant. Yet this story had a different tone to it than her others, with its carefree nature that was juxtaposed to its stringent aspect...perfectly describing Georgie and Andrew in that order. The counterpoint to her breath of fresh air persona was his logical well orchestrated personality. Their's was a rising to nearly boiling point attraction, denied by both long enough to create tension and an explosive chemistry. The build up to their coming together left me holding my breath at times, then whooping with joy at others...only turning it around and making my heart sigh. Georgie and Andrew have to be one of my favorite couples...and this author is well know for creating some very memorable ones, all from what I perceive to be her vivid, romantic imagination. In Georgie Andrew found the gentle loving nature that he needed, all brought to life through this author's creativity, making them a couple not easily forgotten. The descriptions of Georgie's bubbling, laugh at her self perceptions was enough to bring her to life in my mind's eye. Andrew's stodginess (Georgie's charming tag) was so well created, it led to the visual of him as clear as if he was standing before me, scowl and all. Georgie's first person narrative was genius...her inner monologue was tremendously wry, snappy, and full of wit with clear insight into human nature. Her outlook on life through her inner musings was entertaining and one of my favorite things about the story. The hilarity in her wonderfully wondering thoughts drove the course of the story, keeping it fresh and moving smoothly through to the HEA end. This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Walk of Shame. Really enjoyed the book. Really talented author. Will read other books by this author.

Notice me. This is the 4th book in the Love Unexpectedly series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment, I recommend reading this series in order. Andrew & Georgianna have a frenemy sort of rivalry going on. Sparked by attraction that neither knows is mutual. Their need to get under the other's skin is what makes the book smooth. Georgianna AKA Georgie to her friends, is majorly hot for Andrew, but he does not seem to notice her unless she is showing him her "ridiculous" side. (You'll see when you read it.) With being a celebrity in her own right, maybe she should show him who's boss? This was just such a fun read. I laughed and cried. Basically this one is a total keeper! It has a little bit of something for everyone. I loved all the banter, and the heat explodes off the page. Really good addition to the Love Unexpectedly series. ***This ARC copy was given in exchange for an honest review by Netgalley and its publishers.

Just a great read!. This is the perfect rainy or just a blah day book. Walk of Shame is a book that celebrates fairytales, while still being completely believable and reflective of modern romance. I found Georgie, our heroine, a breath of fresh air. On the surface Georgie is a shallow party girl who has no shame for her boozy floozy lifestyle. She is also a very nice person who cares about everyone she encounters and goes out of her way to show her appreciation. Our hero Andrew, is a morally upright "my body is my temple" stick in the mud kind of guy. He is the kind of guy who never thinks about whether or not he cares about people outside his closest family and friends. Andrew is a cold, yet handsome, fish. I enjoyed the development of our couple's relationship from the snarky encounters in the lobby of their apartment building to their mutual spark heating into a strong romantic relationship. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romances. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Walking the shame for Andrew. I love Lauren Layne's books. LOVE them. Her heroines are always women I think I could be friends with, and her Hot Heroes are always HOT. This book, though. I wasn't quite sure that Georgia and I could be friends. She's a wealthy socialite whose only job is staying out late with her friends. Yeah, she volunteers for various charities - which, in her defense, requires as much work as any paying gig - but she's directionless. As she hits her mid-twenties, it's time, don't you think, for her to find a direction? So I struggled a bit with relating to her. In any other hands, Georgia would have remained shallow and meaningless, but Lauren Layne renders her a character with substance. Georgia wants to find meaning in her life. She wants to set goals for herself and reach those goals. She realizes that there has to be more to the life she is living, privileged as it is. It doesn't help her that her parents are both driven, successful people. Her father is a real estate developer, and her mother has started a fashion line. Georgia sees, however, that while those two are good at what they do professionally, they are not good at marriage. It also does not help that Andrew Mulroney finds her frivolous at best. They live in the same apartment building and butt heads every time they see each other, which turns out to be somewhat frequently: they meet in passing most mornings at 5 AM as Andrew is begins his day as one of the city's most successful divorce attorneys and she ends hers with a "walk of shame." These two cannot have a conversation with arguing with and insulting each other, and it is hilarious to read. All along, Lauren Layne builds tension between them - tension and passion. It's clear they are attracted to each other, but so what? To have a true relationship, substance must exist. Whereas Georgia lacks that professionally, Andrew lacks it emotionally. Georgia's heart is wide open; Andrew's is on lockdown. The thing about the title is that Georgia isn't the only one who must endure walks of shame. So does Andrew, and his cause far more emotional angst. On the surface, this seems like a fun, frothy romance, but Layne gives it substance and emotional depth. She also delivers the quiver with some hot headboard rocking. Like, super hot. You'll like this book.

Opposites Attract and Banter Ensues.... Georgie Watkins, NYC socialite and professional party girl, looks forward to the mornings she rolls into her buildings lobby after a late night out with her friends. The cap to her perfect nights… a little friendly, antagonistic banter with a fellow resident. Andrew Mulroney, Esquire… thinks Georgie is… ridiculous. They couldn’t be more opposite if they tried, but there is something about her that he just can’t stay away from. What starts out as a truce (of sorts) develops into actual time spent together, and Georgie and Andrew still couldn’t be more opposite, but can they maybe good for each other? I absolutely adored this book! Georgie is hilarious. She may be a socialite and party girl, but she is anything but shallow and self-centered. She is a caring, generous and unapologetically friendly and outgoing woman. Andrew is a brilliant man who knows a lot… just not about being smooth with someone like Georgie. They are such a brilliant match, who you would never see as compatible, but end up being perfect for each other. The writing is, as usual, fantastic. With Lauren Layne’s trademark wit and her awesomely snarky characters (my favorite type, btw) who are portrayed so genuinely, that you can’t help but become engrossed in their story and root for them throughout all of their ups and downs. I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

Awesome!. There are truly not enough adjectives to describe this book! Funny, sweet, sexy, touching, enchanting, colorful, frustrating, brilliant...I obviously could go on and on. The ultimate opposites attract couple; her the friendly, bubbly party girl versus him, the stoic, serious, stodgy divorce lawyer. Truly nothing in common on the surface but you root for them from page one. I laughed, I wanted to punch them both, I cried, I wanted to hit Andrew, I wanted to shake Georgie...and I could Not. Put. It. Down. Not only is this my very favorite Lauren Layne book now (and that's saying something...sorry Lincoln!) but it's the best book I've read all year! This will be one of those stories that I read again and again...and again. Loved it :)

Amazing. Loved it!!. I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I really love the fact that the author took the time to tell the story. She did not rush it, which actually seems to happen a lot in the Romance novels. I have read a lot of Romance novels that will start out with a great story and then rush through to the end so fast it loses the potential, it started with, to be a wonderful book. Lauren takes to time to lay out the plot and introduce the characters and taking that potential and turning it into a Great book. The story was well thought out. You may think of it as a princess and the frog story. I love the chemistry between the main characters Andrew and Georgiana. The sexual chemistry is amazing. I found the book not only romantic but fun. There were several moments of laugh out loud fun and moments of sadness. I like the mix of characters and it was easy to imagine being there or maybe watching it on the big screen. The book was captivating. I am definitely interested in reading other works by this author. Happy Reading!!! #FANGIRL Note I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

Great!. Loved it!

Loved it!. Classic Lauren Layne and I LOVED it!! Full of snark, humor, and sexy times, this opposites attract story had me laughing out loud and kept me completely entertained. Georgie and Andrew were great characters and I enjoyed the slow build of their relationship. She's a party girl and loved by everyone. He's serious, stoic and doesn't let too many people get close. Teasing Andrew and trying to get him to smile is the highlight of Georgie's day. Andrew won't deny he's attracted to Georgianna but she's everything he hates about the pampered wealthy. Then one surprise kiss changes everything!! This is a must read. I highly recommend it.

Wonderfully Perfect. Sometimes you just want to get lost in a great love story. This was the perfect story to do so. I'll admit I was a bit apprehensive at first. As much as I enjoy LL, I started with the sample of the book and was a bit turned off at how shallow Georgie seemed in the scenes with her friends at the beginning. But her run-ins with Andrew were delightfully witty and intriguing, pulling me in enough to purchase the book. I'm so glad I did. As the story develops you see more of these two characters and who they truly are because of how they bring out the best in each other. The result is a perfect love story that you can't help but fall into.

I highly recommend this laugh out loud wonderful story!. Party girl, Georgianna "Georgie" Watkins has a wonderful life. She is a pampered heiress, especially since her grandma left her a nice trust fund, and has never had to work a day in her life. She is also an only child with two very well off parents. The most Georgie has to ever worry about is what to buy when she goes shopping or which fundraiser she should be helping out at. While this may sound like a great, her dating life is anything but. It's always the same type of rich, cocky guys which completely bore Georgie. Now, the guy who lives in 79B in her apartment building whom she sees every morning at 5:00 am when she is just getting in from a night of partying does pique her interest. Andrew Mulroney is a very successful divorce attorney and likes his routine life. Out the door every day at 5:00 am to work out at the gym, then off to the office where he spends most of his time, then back home to start the routine all over. What he doesn't like is the bubbly Georgie, or Georgianna as he prefers to call her....or does he? While these two may be polar opposites, they are just drawn to each other. Georgie purposely comes home every morning just before 5:00 am with a dozen donuts for the doormen, just waiting for Andrew to show up. Andrew secretly enjoys sparring with Georgie every morning, although he'd never admit it. The conversations between these two are perfect, laugh out loud awesomeness! Then finally one day the sparring turns to an earth shattering kiss...which just happens to get photographed by the paparazzi and their world explodes! I really loved these characters. They were both so fun and entertaining. I really enjoyed how they balanced each other out so well. While Georgie is outgoing and friendly, Andrew is quiet and reserved. I just adored this story line and couldn't put this book down...it was THAT fun! So if you are looking for two great characters and a wonderful, laugh out loud, swooning story....I highly recommend giving this book a try!

4.5 Stars!. I read everything LL writes & this is definitely in the top 3! I love Georgie and Andrew's banter so much. Many times I'd laugh out loud! & I loved it when they stopped fighting their attraction to one another! I only wish the book had been longer. Always a sad thing when before you know it, the book is over. But worth the wait for sure!

Absolutely Delightful!. Loved this Sexy, Adorable, Charming and Fun Contemporary Romance. I always love the truly amazing ways that Lauren Layne tells a story and I think that this is her best story yet. When I started reading this I was completely engrossed in it. It was fresh, engaging, sexy and fun. They are such great characters that I wanted to be friends and hang out with them. She is truly a fantastic story teller. Georgianna Watkins was full of personality and charm. Teasing Andrew Mulroney Esquire is the highlight of her day and fuels her daydreams. Andrew Mulroney Esquire thinks Georgianna is ridiculous! He doesn't have time for women, but when he meets Georgie he is taken by the beautiful, sexy, party girl and just can't stay away from her. The verbal sparing fly between these characters and explodes into electric chemistry that is sizzling. It was fun, playful and I could feel the want and need between the two. There were so many funny parts in this, I burst out laughing at times. There was a great balance of entertaining, sexy and emotions throughout. Fantastic writing, story, characters, build and pace. All the feelings and connections pouring through me made my heart feel full and happy and it had me smiling, laughing, melting and swooning with every turn of the page. Walk of Shame is an absolute delight and I can't wait for the next book from this fantastic author. Arc provided by publisher and Tasty Book Tours via NetGalley and I voluntarily wrote an honest review.

Awesome story. I am a huge LL fan and love enemies to lovers stories so I couldn't wait for this book to be released. Georgie is a socialite who parties all night but makes sure she's back in her building's lobby by 5 am to run into her stuffy neighbor, Andrew, just to get under his skin. Andrew is a divorce attorney who lives a super structured life but makes sure he's in his building's lobby by 5 am to run into his ridiculous neighbor, Georgianna, just to get under her skin. Georgie and Andrew are opposites in almost every way but their chemistry is off the charts and the banter they have is hilarious. A secret threatens to end their tenuous relationship before it even starts. The only thing that I didn't like about this book was that while it's dual POV, Georgie's POV is in first person and Andrew's is in third person. It didn't, in any way, take away from the story but it did throw me off when the POV changed. Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down. I loved the banter, Georgie's personality, and Andrew's commitment to his work and family. I never wanted their story end!

Perfection!. WALK OF SHAME is just the right blend of everything I love in a book. It is a delightfully funny, feel good story. It has great writing, witty dialogue, memorable characters and the story immediately drew me and I never wanted it to end. Georgiana (Georgie) Wilkins is a socialite. She doesn't work, she just enjoys life. She stays out all night and sleeps during the day. She spends her time shopping, having her hair done, working on charity events and going to clubs with her friends. She is fun loving, has a bubbly personality and she gets along with everyone. She is the exact opposite of Andrew Mulroney. Andrew is an uptight attorney who lives in the same upscale building as Georgie. Every morning they pass each other as Andrew is leaving for work and Georgie is coming home from another fun night on the town. Andrew is the most famous divorce attorney in the city. He is also a workaholic and follows a rigorous schedule. He sneers at Georgie's frivolous lifestyle and Georgie loves to say things to get under Andrew’s skin. It is highly entertaining as they lobby snarky remarks as they pass each other every morning. Andrew thinks Georgie is self indulgent and useless yet, he can't help but notice how attractive she is. There is a lot of sexual tension and verbal foreplay between Andrew and Georgie and they are confused by what they are feeling. Andrew is super smart, formal and hard working. He is the total opposite of Georgie’s friendly, relaxed demeanor. Andrew has never met anyone like Georgie and isn't sure how to act around her or what to say. Even though they are the exact opposite, they are good for each other. Georgie helps Andrew loosen up and Andrew helps Georgie take life more seriously. It is fun watching these two together and I also enjoyed the entertaining secondary characters. Perfection! Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book vIa Cocktails and Books and Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

if you like your romance – you’ll love this book. And if you don’t fancy your romance (gasp!!) thi. It shouldn’t be this easy – to get dragged into a story with a heroine that ticks every box on the ‘annoying’ scale: gorgeous, rich, frivolous, famous for just existing with a major ‘thing’ for the hero: also gorgeous and famous, as a divorce lawyer, with a penchant for opening his mouth and inserting his foot. But it was Enchanting! Right from the start, I wanted to know why Georgie was all puppy at the pound turning circles and begging for attention from Andrew, who obviously had little time for her combined with that ‘first glance’ dismissal of her value. But then we see it, Georgie’s heart and honest appreciation of the people she encounters: she draws people to her like moths to a flame: always open, friendly and up for a laugh. She is sunshine guaranteed to brighten your day (even at the end of a long night-shift) with a smile, a conversation or even a maple bacon doughnut, caged with 11 others from a bakery, a stop made after a long night of dancing and drinking with her friends. Well, Andrew was a bit different:: rigidly adherent to his schedule, ‘deadly intelligent’, restrained and carefully confined within the little box he’s built for himself: suits that scream ‘successful attorney”, workout clothes that range from black to slate grey, a driven, restrained and dare I say, stuck in a rut man with a firmly held belief that Georgie is frivolous, ridiculous and just the girl he can’t stop thinking about. So perhaps Georgie does have a bit of the Disney Princess about her, and yes, I swear that there were times that little birds should have sung her awake (at noon) and helped her dress, but she is just so perfectly optimistic and joyful in everything she does, always knowing that things will work out and love will prevail. She’s just driven to make Andrew see that: to force the door open to his heart and make him see that love and life are meant to be enjoyed and experienced. With movie nights with Enchanted, through charming his sister-in-law, partners at the firm, and pretty much everyone else, he’s loosening the reins on his tightly held control….although he never can quite get his balance. Socially awkward with anything more than small talk, even Georgie’s small talk is baffling to him, and he just can’t seem to find equilibrium around her. But he is hooked. Totally and completely. And Happy. The girl with the sparkles and laughter and unselfish need to have everyone around her happy, heard and enjoying the moment has him wanting….more. Laughter, tears, concern and even a few moments where Andrew need to be hit with a stick, and not the happy one, I loved every moment of this book, and went right back in to re-read it a second time. A book hangover of legendary proportions, if you like your romance – you’ll love this book. And if you don’t fancy your romance (gasp!!) this will convert you…. Trust and believe. I purchased a copy of the title for my own library, and all conclusions are my own responsibility. I was not obligated nor compensated for this review.

It was a wonderful ode to Happily Ever Afters and was one of my favorite reads from Lauren Layne so. I loved this book hard. This book hooks you from page 1 and doesn't let go. it would be difficult to not like our heroine, but that is exactly what Andrew Maloney, Esquire does. She has this whole Holly Golightly feel about her, you know, where everyone in the from gravitates to her and she has never met a stranger, so for someone to not like her is completely foreign. They meet in passing every morning as she is coming in for the night and he is leaving for the gym and engage verbal sparring matches that are so fun and quick-witted that you will find yourself chuckling and wishing you could come up with stuff this good off the top of your head. Our divorce lawyer, Andrew, doesn't believe in Happily Ever Afters and our socialite party girl only believes in Happily Even Afters. This book and their story is so much fun to read. It was a wonderful ode to Happily Ever Afters and was one of my favorite reads from Lauren Layne so far. I highly recommend this book.

Enchanting love story. I've been a fan of Lauren Layne since I discovered her books last year-and binge read them all in a week. Since then I've patiently (ok, not so patiently) awaited each new release, ready to dive in to the author's unique storytelling ways. I've enjoyed all of her books but this one had a little something extra to me and it is hands down my favorite Lauren Layne book. Georgianna was such a fun, different character. I could relate to her always finding the bright side, for always believing in happily ever afters (thanks, Disney) and just her bubbly personality overall. Georgie is so much more than the party girl she's initially made out to be. She's smart, kind and funny. I just loved her. Andrew-oh, Andrew. I fell for him hard and fast. Like Georgie, I wanted to see his smile, hear him laugh. I wanted to peel back his layers until I found out what made him tick. What I found when his layers were exposed was a sweet, shy, somewhat socially awkward man that I just couldn't help loving. He definitely is at the top of my book boyfriend list. The dialog between these two characters is sharp and witty. Each little subtle dig exposed them more to each other. I loved feeling the chemistry between them, watching them finally figure out what they really wanted from each other and deciding whether or not it was worth it. Lauren Layne has a way of creating such a community within her books that you can't help but feel you could be a secondary character. I felt like I could be friends with Georgie and her crew, that I could walk down the streets of NYC and find them in a club and they'd just welcome me in. At the same time, I feel I could work with Andrew as well. Theirs is a world I wanted to live in. I devoured this book in one sitting. It appeared on my kindle and everything else on my TBR list got pushed back a bit-and it was absolutely worth it. This is a book I'll read over and over. It made me laugh, had me swooning and had heat to boot. Lauren Layne has knocked it out of the park with Walk of Shame. I highly recommend this book.

A Must Read!. Walk of Shame (Love Unexpectedly) by Lauren Layne This is heiress Georgianna "Georgie" Watkins and celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney's story. This was a really fun and entertaining story! Georgie and Andrew are opposites but they are perfect for each other. I loved the banter and chemistry between them. I loved this story! I was was hooked from the beginning to end. The sex scenes were minimal but the ones it did have were really hot and steamy! This is a must read! So, kick back and escape into Georgie and Andrew's world. FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

So lovely!. I totally loved this book. The characters were totally adorable and I just so enjoyed their story!

Absolutely Loved It!. Sexy, witty and adorably romantic! This story is set in the prestigious streets of New York City and gives a glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous, complete with elegant events, extravagant parties and swanky couture. It is told from two different perspectives; Georgie, a warm, optimistic glitterati who believes in fairy tales; and Andrew, an intelligent, serious, skeptical divorce lawyer who would rather play it safe than follow his heart. The writing is effortless. The characters are clever, alluring and lovable. And the plot is enchanting, exceptionally funny and filled with spirited hijinks, delicious tension, caustic banter, steamy attraction and true love. I have always been a fan of Lauren Layne and I think this might have just become one of my favourites. I loved the characters; I loved the chemistry; I loved the story. It was ridiculously perfect! If you like light-hearted rom coms you can’t do much better than this.
