Gobi. Heartwarming story of the changes a small dog can make in a persons life.

Heartwarming. I couldn't think of something more clever to say than heartwarming, but this book made me feel good. You don't have to be on the edge of your seat to be completely engaged in this story. I loved reading something happy.

Finding Gobi. Enjoyed every chapter! Being an animal lover and the owner of many beloved pets over the years has given me a compassion beyond my ability to put into words. The book was very well written & I loved it!

In the few days that Dion and Gobi spent together in the China desert, they developed an unbreakable bond which carried Dion through those devastating days when Gobi went missing from her temporary caretaker's home shortly before she entered quarantine. With the endless support of Dion's wife, Lucja, and a group of of dog loving strangers in China,a nearly insurmountable heartbreak became of the most joyful and heartwarming story in 2016. Great Read!. This book is so motivational and inspiring. A lot of good people in the world. Great book!

Heartwarming. This story unfurled on social media, and the world was hooked. This little dog and the joy she gave one man meant the world had a beacon of hope, despite the obstacles they had to overcome. Dion's journey is so much more than meeting Gobi, losing Gobi, and then finding Gobi. It's about spirit, compassion, and the unbreakable strength of unconditional love. Best story out of 2016. This gem of a story will touch your heart and stir your soul. Dion Leonard wrote the backstory of the best take to come out of 2016. The reader feels as though they are there with him through it all. There's adventure, sport, travel, animals, strife, adversity, and sadness in this book. But most importantly it's a story of love. Two beings were meant to find each other during the most grueling week of an ultra marathon in July 2016. In one of the harshest climates on the planet, little scrappy pup (now named Gobi), walked up to the starting line on day 2, looked up at Dion Leonard and decided, this is my human. She ran by his side for 3 days straight without missing a beat. This heartwarming story will take you through the race, to her going missing in a hugely populated city, and ultimately back into the arms of the man who found healing in their beautiful friendship. Don't miss out on this incredible book, so wonderfully written.

The feel good story of 2016. The feel good story of 2016 is now a full length book, the story told by Dion Leonard himself. We learn enough about his younger years to understand where he was mentally and emotionally when Gobi chose him as her person in the deserts of China. This is the story of how they met and the hoops he had to jump thru to bring her home. As always there is SO MUCH more to the story than the blurb we saw on the evening news. For instance-spoiler alert-he had to find her twice! Very well written. Dion draws you in and you read every word to see what happens next even though you know the outcome! There are several parts that will bring you to tears, yet it is a book that helps bring back faith in our humanity. Gobi inspired many during her situation and continues to now through this book. I highly recommend it to anyone, but especially dog lovers. Remember: adopt don't shop. Bring more Gobi's home. Finding Gobi. This book was totally wonderful. Goby is so precious and it is so beautiful she found the person who will love her dearly.

Humanity still exists. Being the lucky owner of three rescues, this pulled me in from the moment I read the description on Amazon. As my dogs do for our family so to do I hope they will for their family. Gobi is amazing.

Best story about dog love. I loved the book so much. I enjoyed it a lot. I love the story about true love between a dog and the human she found. The best part of this story is that it is real and it has a happy ending. It can be read in one day for sure. It has ups and downs and you will laugh, cry and feel all your emotions through all the book. Must read if you love running, dogs or love stories.

Story of Gobi a must read!. Wonderful, heartwarming story of one man’s journey of love and healing! His own salvation woven into saving this little dog. A must read!

King of dog books!. Animal stories don’t get much better than this!!! Dion may not be an experienced writer, but he made this an amazing read!!

Good read. I was captured by this book with the adventure in the Gobi Desert. However I had a hard time finishing the book as it seemed to become a little dull nearing the end. Overall it was a good book and I recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful story!. As an animal lover, it’s difficult for me to read any book about the drama that plays out on the pages of such book, and then think critically to review it. And I do read lots of them! But I am happy to say that this book covers many journeys at once: addressing the world of ultra marathons, the political and cultural tensions inside China, the international human dynamics made possible by the internet, the precious nature of human beings sharing their culture with an outsider, and the intricacies of the human/animal bond. Love, generosity, longing, learning, the deepening of self-knowledge and understanding are tempered with the experience of fear, suspicions, cultural taboos and tensions, communications gaps, heartache, pain and loss. It is true to life, and to the great adventure that life can be!

Could not put it down. To say this is a feel good story is an understatement. Read it start to finish in one evening with my three rescue dogs at my feet.

Feel good Story. This is a great story of how people all over the world, from different cultures are similar in caring for others. I don't believe it would have the same great ending without the global support this man received. Great Book!

Unconditional Love. What a wonderful story of how one’s life can change unexpectedly. The bond created between you and Gobi reaffirms the belief that animals play such an important part in our lives without a spoken word. Great story!

Couldn't put it down!. I loved it.

Great book for animal lovers and runners. I have read this book twice. The first time was to read more details about the dog story I followed online. Although I followed the journey online and saw interviews, I learned a lot of new details that I didn't know before. The second time I read it, I focused more on the running story. I am also a runner and could relate to the struggles we endurance athletes have (although I am not an ultra runner). Reading about the various marathons and ultras he's done, especially the Gobi desert race, were so interesting that I've decided to do my next marathon in another country (although most likely Europe and not China). I highly recommend this book to both animal lovers and people who enjoy reading books about running.

There just might be hope for the world!. A wonderful story about a determined little dog finding/running her way into big-guy Dion’s heart and how he matched Gobi’s determination by sticking with her and getting her back to live with his family in Edinburgh. It is also an amazing story of what can happen when people come together to help each other. I just finished reading the book and spent the next hour looking at the amazing YouTube videos documenting this incredible journey. Thank you, Dion, Lucja and all the people who helped make this happen. And wishing lucky little Gobi a long, healthy life!

Must-read for dog lovers!. This is the amazing true story of Dion Leonard, an Australian ultra marathon runner, who befriended a stray Chinese desert dog while running a 155 mile race across the Gobi desert last year. The dog, who he named Gobi, ran 77 miles alongside him and he made a promise to “bring Gobi home”. Although what an ordeal that would turn out to be, as Gobi disappeared during the quarantine process and Dion flew back to China to help search for her in a city of over 3 million people. Miraculously she was found, and Dion stayed with her for the remainder of the quarantine to ensure she was brought safely home to his adopted home of Scotland. I had followed this story on social media last year and was a bit skeptical about a book, as I thought I knew all there was to know. There was definitely a lot of "behind the scenes" drama I wasn’t aware of, and it was incredible to read about the lengths that Dion and his family, not to mention an army of volunteers in China, went to make sure Gobi was safe and healthy. The book was engagingly written, whether you know the story already or not. Well-worth a read for dog lovers (as Gobi is the most lovely dog ever!) and anyone interested in extreme sports.
