Good book, ok read. This book was a good read very short and I thought there would be more to the story at the end before the epilogue. There were parts where I didn’t understand how one scene went to another but overall was a good book and a good read.

Love Kendall. Kendall Ryan is one of my favorite authors. She does a great job with delivering a story that is enjoyable and pretty much always a swoon worthy read. As far as romance writers go, she's one of the best. The Roommate series is a fun, light-hearted, sexy series. The tropes are nothing new but they have the Kendall Ryan touch and that is enough to make them stand out. The Play Mate has great banter, like-able and relate-able characters. I did really enjoy this book and I'm glad I read it. I don't think the story itself is stand out worthy but I do still recommend it. It's worth reading and then some. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Wait til you meet Smith!. 5 stars! Kendall Ryan does it again with a sweet, sexy, heartwarming romance with characters you can’t help but fall in love with. Evie Reed would always tagalong with her brother and his best friend, Smith, when they were younger. Now, Evie’s all grown up and she wants one night with Smith. Smith remembers Evie fondly as the sweet, little sister of his best friend. Now, she’s back in his life and suddenly, he wants her, even if she’s off limits. Smith Hamilton has jumped right onto my Top Ten Book Boyfriends list and I think he’s going to be a permanent fixture. He is sexy, sweet, caring and has a dirty mouth in the bedroom. I loved reading along as he realized his feelings and warred with himself. Evie is great, too. She comes in take-charge and gets what she wants. She’s a great character—believable, likable. She’s that rare female character that doesn’t whine about what she can’t have. The chemistry between Smith and Evie jumps off the pages. You will be rooting for these two from the very first moment they are in a scene together. I devoured this book in a few hours. It was that good. Step into the world of Smith and Evie. Get lost in their whirlwind romance. Swoon at the uber-hot Smith. Trust me. You’ll thank me!

A Lighthearted, Fun, & Sexy Romance! ❤. This is exactly what I needed - a lighthearted, fun, and sexy friends to lovers romance with a touch of taboo (best friend's little sister). I could not put this book down or wipe the goofy smile from my face while reading. This is book 2 in the author's Roommates series, but can be read as a complete stand alone. Smith had me swooning from the start and I could not get enough of him. The story is told from both his and Evie's points of views, but I really loved Smith's chapters best. His inner dialogue is hilarious and honest. I was surprised though by his initial reaction to finding Evie in his bed. Seriously, wouldn't you be at least slightly alarmed to find someone in your bed unexpectedly, especially if it's so dark you have no idea who they are?!? He's got some emotional baggage, but I loved seeing those walls crumble. There's always something so sweet and magical to me about that moment when the main character opens their eyes and sees what has been there in front of them all along. Evie was also a great character, although there were times she seemed a little immature. I understand her do-over plan was more just an excuse for her to act on her long held crush for Smith, but it was still odd to me that a 22 year old would be so worried that her lady parts would gather cobwebs and wither away. The chemistry between Smith and Evie was undeniable though and I loved how easy it was between them. There was no unnecessary drama or other love interests and the only thing standing in our lovers way was themselves (and maybe Evie's brother, Cullen). The epilogue was fulfilling and adorable and the perfect way to close Smith and Evie's story. I challenge you to finish this book without a smile on your face. If you're looking for a fast, sweet, and lighthearted book, definitely pick up The Play Mate. *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*

I want a Smith of my own!. **4.5 Stars** Kendall Ryan did it again! Book 2 in the Roommates Series, The Play Mate, was awesome. The characters are non-related to book 1, The Room Mate, so this can be read as a standalone. Smith Hamilton is hot, rich, smart and attracted to someone he shouldn't be- his best friend's little sister Evie. Smith hasn't always had it easy so he knows getting involved with someone like Evie isn't the best idea. But can he keep the age old attraction to her a secret or will he eventually give in? Evie Reed has a problem. She wants her brother's best friend Smith. She wants the reason to model the company's lingerie and she wants it to be for Smith. Evie has so many things going for her, a new fancy education she can put to use, a family who loves her, the job of her dreams but she is missing the companionship. Will she be able to sway Smith to have a relationship with her or will it be a lost cause? I loved watching Smith and Evie's relationship develop. You laugh in the beginning as Evie tries everything she has to get Smith to notice her and oh does he notice her. You get to watch the awkward moments while they skirt around each other with Evie's brother present and you get to fall in love with the two as they make their relationship work. I can't wait for more from Kendall in this series with book three, The House Mate. I have no doubt I'm going to love it just as much as I love the first two.

Fun. Fun forbidden romance between younger sister and brother’s best friend. Evie decides that she wants a Smith to be her “do-over” when it comes to sex (her one and only time was a disaster). She sneaks into his room in Paris, and tries to seduce him. Smith is attracted to her, but says no. The problem escalates when Evie’s brother announces that they will all be working together. Of course, they cannot fight their attraction, and decide to date on the down low. Definitely a fun read.

Encore. This sequel to the series was amazing. No other words come to mind. Couldn’t put it down, I’m in love.

A truly tantalizing tale of friends to lovers, Ms. Ryan adds her own spin to the favorite genre, making the journey even sweeter. Smith Hamilton is…everything. He’s kind, generous, loving, intelligent, wealthy, sweet, and drop-dead gorgeous. The only fault a woman might find, is a complete, total, and utter aversion to commitment. I absolutely adore Smith. He’s a low-key guy, down for a good time with friends, family…whatever. He may have money, but he doesn’t let it define him. He is just as happy, maybe more so, tossing back beers and throwing darts as he is wining and dining in a fancy french restaurant. His heart is pure, and when it comes down to it, he will fight for what he wants. Never in his wildest dreams did he every think he would want his best friends little sister. It’s hard for him to ignore the fact that she is ALL GROWN UP, especially when she crawls into his bed. Evie Reed has an incredible older brother, and their relationship is tight. This doesn’t change the fact that she has crushed on his best friend since they were kids. I found a kindred spirit in Evie. She is just as beautiful inside as she is out, but she has a slightly skewed view of herself, and lacks confidence though she has no reason to. Evie is completely relatable, likable, and real. Honestly, all of these characters are. When Evie finally decides she wants a shot at her childhood crush, she sneaks into his bed. The chaos that ensues from this decision is both humorous, and cringe-worthy…but also manages to be totally hot at the same time. The sparks that fly can’t be put out, and soon a decision must be made whether or not to do something about them. This is a slow burn that had me panting and wanting more, yet never had me rushing to get to the end. Ms. Ryan has filled these pages with fun, humor, reality, family, heart, love, fear, desire, and hope. I loved every word. So now, what about the rest? Well, the cover of this book is HAWT! I mean, really…have you seen those abs?! The characters were wonderful. I wanted to know them all. The character development was on point, never leaving me wanting…though I would like to know more about Smith’s past. The plot and storyline were thorough, with plenty of fun and realism to keep readers happy. And the writing? Amazing… Ms. Ryan is a talented writer, and weaves her tales in a way that keeps us coming back for more. A true artist in her own right, she never disappoints. Kristie K

5 We’re not just friends stars!!!!. I absolutely loved this book!!! It is totally a standalone novel and you don’t have to read the first book in this series to truly appreciate this book. If you love Kendall Ryan books then you are going to love this little gem!!

Fun, sexy, and completely enticing!. Smith Hamilton.....I'm in LOVE!!! The Play Mate is fun, sexy, and completely enticing! It contains everything a older brother's best friend romance should have, and so much more. This story follows Smith and Evie's journey from friends to lovers, while navigating their tricky working relationship and friendship with Evie's older brother, Cullen. Lust, laughter, and racy lingerie add a richness to this already swoony romance. The character dynamic between Smith and Evie is incredibly enjoyable and amusing! They're both beautiful and tenacious characters, and when together, they showcase how right they belong together. Their mutual attraction towards one another and their already close friendship makes their connection very alluring and explosive. But it's also Smith's hesitation towards pursuing his desires that makes him utterly charming and compassionate. Evie's headstrong characteristics and determination to go after what she wants are great attributes to read. And not just her appetite for Smith either, but with her strong work ethics to show exactly how beneficial she can be to her family business. The Play Mate is a genuinely warm, exciting and playful friends to lovers romance. The book is thoroughly entertaining and will leave a constant smile on your face. The laughable situations and heartfelt emotions are enough to make you fall in love with Smith and Evie's story from page one! A definite 5 star must read!

Not Quite As Good As The Room Mate. 3.5☆ I liked The Play Mate, but I liked The Room Mate more. Again I felt like I was missing a bit of a connection with the characters. I still liked both Evie and Smith, but something isn't quite connecting with me and making me love them. They're both smart, caring, and good people; They make a good couple. The storyline was pretty good. It wasn't exactly unique, but I still liked it. There were a lot of parts that gave me a good chuckle, which I enjoyed. I thought it was a good book overall, just not my favorite of hers.

I love me an older brother best friend book. After reading a few serious books, I was excited to start The Play Mate. I wanted a fun and easy going read. The Play Mate is a happy, low angst and adorable read. It’s a crush to lovers’ kind of book. It gave me all the wiggly feels and squishes in my belly as I was reading. Evie has a mega crush on Smith. What’s not to like? With a 7 age gap, Smith is all dreamy and perfect in Evie’s eyes. I like an age gap. Can’t really explain it, since it’s not taboo really, maybe because I feel like Smith is this successful has his head on his shoulders kind of guy and Evie is still trying to find herself in the career world. Smith can’t do anything with Evie because his best friend will kill him. But it’s kind of hard not to lust after your best friend’s little sister when you work with her at a lingerie company! Cute right? The brother, Evie and Smith all work together. This book is a NA book, but it’s not just all steam, there’s some cute moments and a lot of character buildup. I like that Evie and Smith have a friendship at first and the way they bond is all smiles. I even like the brother! Who doesn’t like a protective older brother? Overall, Kendall Ryan never disappoints and this is another hit for me.

The Play Mate is a sweet, sassy, and sexy story with a hero and heroine readers can connect with due to the direction of their lives, how much their pasts play into their presents, and the anticipatory nature of Evie’s operation to get herself an orgasm as well as a man who owns her body and soul. Another sexy winner from Kendall Ryan. If you love a heroine who falls for her older brother’s best friend, you’ll love this flirty, sexy romance. The Play Mate is a delightful and entertaining. Smith is a sweetheart and incredibly sexy. I was impatient for him to man up and deal with the problem of dating his best friend’s little sister, but I understand his trepidation. Evie is pretty darn funny, and I loved how she decided to take the bull by the horns and seduce Smith. She’s a little awkward and amusing – a relatable, everyday girl. They have great chemistry, and their intimate moments are hot. If you’re looking for a something fun and sensual, check out The Play Mate. Fun and flirty read. I'm really loving this new series of completely standalone stories fro Kendall Ryan. Smith and Evie embark on a kind of forbidden relationship and I loved the tension that arose from the sneaking around behind Evie's brothers back. I got all the feels as the feelings developed and more lines got crossed. Kendall Ryan delivers a quirky, sassy read that is imaginative, sexy and keeps you turning till the last page.

Fun and steamy romance. A brother’s best friend book!! I adore this type of book. There is something so good about how they’ve known each other for so long so they are friends and then progressing to more than just friends. It’s naughty and oh so perfect at the same time. This book made me snort, giggle and cry with laughter. It’s angsty but not to an extent where the angst is the main crux of the storyline. Evie has loved Smith for a long time or crushed on him for at least 7 years. She wants him to be her first in different ways. However Smith can’t because her brother is his best friend. They end up working together in a lingerie company which leads to so many humorous moments and seriously the irony! I laughed, I cried and I went on the emotional rollercoaster too. There are some moments where the laughter dies down and it becomes steamy, and serious and real. I like how the humour balances out those moments. This book however did feel a bit flat in parts but the humour carried this book for me. I enjoyed it and definitely looking forward to more from this author. 4 stars

Forbidden No More. Ever since she was a child Evie now 23 has had a crush on Smith her brother’s best friend who is seven years older. She is meeting Smith and her brother Cullen for dinner and she wants a "do over" of her first sexual encounter as it was disappointing and she believes it will be off the charts with Smith. Smith has been attracted to Evie for a while but she is strictly hands off as she is his best friend's sister however when she sneaks into his bed it changes everything even though it doesn't end as she would have hoped. Amazing. Reading one of Kendall's stories is always an entertaining and wonderful journey to take with this author. This 5 star story kept my undivided attention for a few hours. Even then I wanted more. This story is about Evie who's wants a do-over with Smith whom she's had a crush on for a long time. The only problem is, he's her brother's best friend. He doesn't want to cross that line with her. Eventually he won't have a choice because she's the one for him. I really enjoyed this wonderful story that kept me reading for a few short hours because once I started it, I couldn't seem to want to put it down. It's entertaining, romantic and sexy. The scenes are scorching hot with some sweetness. Great characters that complimented the great storyline. I kind of liked that they knew each other because although the story was short it didn't feel rushed at all. Bottom line is I can't wait for more from this author. Standalone told in a dual POV with a SWOONY HEA. I recommend this story.

3.5 STARS. 3.5 STARS! This friends to lovers/forbidden romance was fun and sexy with a sweet and heartwarming ending. I loved Evie's naughty playfulness and I am always down for some forbidden love. The chemistry between Evie and Smith definitely produced sufficient steam to fog up the windows. However, the characters and story didn't hold the same level of intensity for me. I didn't find an emotional connection with the characters. Normally when I read a Kendall Ryan book I am giddy with feels. The story followed an often travelled path and I never found myself surprised by anything that happened, yet I felt there was one or two issues that weren't entirely resolved. Although this wasn't my favorite book from this author, she's definitely still a favorite overall and I'm still going to continue to read her books.
