From New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting, Shacking Up is a hilarious, swoon-worthy novel about sex and the city—and everything in-between.

Ruby Scott is months behind on rent and can’t seem to land a steady job. She has one chance to turn things around with a big audition. But instead of getting her big break, she gets sick as a dog and completely bombs it in the most humiliating fashion. All thanks to a mysterious, gorgeous guy who kissed—and then coughed on—her at a party the night before.

Luckily, her best friend might have found the perfect opportunity; a job staying at the lavish penthouse apartment of hotel magnate Bancroft Mills while he’s out of town, taking care of his exotic pets. But when the newly-evicted Ruby arrives to meet her new employer, it turns out Bane is the same guy who got her sick.

Seeing his role in Ruby’s dilemma, Bane offers her a permanent job as his live-in pet sitter until she can get back on her feet. Filled with hilariously awkward encounters and enough sexual tension to heat a New York City block, Shacking Up, from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting, is sure to keep you laughing and swooning all night long.

Bane of my existence ❤️❤️. The wait is finally over! I was so looking forward to this new stand-alone by Helena. I'm absolutely in love with the Pucked & Clipped Wings series, I was really excited to read something totally new & different from what we've gotten before! 😊 I fell in love with Bane & Ruby (like most of the characters she write for us) 😍😂 I love the sweetness of Bane & the firecracker inside Ruby. It makes such a great combination. The small bickering also made me laugh out loud at times. Whatever she gives us I always seem to be blown away. I can't wait to read what else she has in store for us ❤️❤️thanks Helena 💕😍

This is an awesome rom com to sooth the soul!. I loved this book! In Helena's newest RomCom the main characters are so lovable, you want to see them succeed while they are falling for each other. This sweet talking ex rugby player turned businessman is amazing! He's the full package even when he's sick. After reading this book I want a pet ferret, and so will you. Ruby is a sweet girl struggling to make it on her own and make it big on broadway and I absolutely love her and want to see her succeed, but no matter how hard she tries something always goes wrong. She is a tough girl who has bad luck and is truly trying but she keeps getting knocked down, and in a last effort she now has to move in with the hot man who made her lose her voice and bomb her last acting audition. This book has humor and lots of heart, it has it all! I got an early copy from netgalley

So good and so entertaining. This book was fun from the start. It just builds and builds keeping you laughing and enjoying the story all the way. The main characters don't disappoint. They are intelligent and fun. Ruby is sweet, lovable, and annoying all at the same time. Bane is such the adorable and sexy guy. A romantic story well worth reading.

Sexy Times. Shacking Up is a romantic comedy starring two leads who were born into upper crust families but do things a little differently than many surrounding them. They aren't has worried about expectations of what's proper. Ruby is trying to become a broadway star. She's having trouble getting a role. When her father cuts her off, she ends up live-in pet setting for Bancroft. This story is full of dirty inner monologue and exotic animals and has plenty of sexual tension and humorous situations. If you're a fan of lighthearted romance, you should check it out.

Love it. Helena Hunting is one of my favorite authors and in her newest book, SHACKING UP we get her signature carefree writing style. It is a witty, fun contemporary romance with believable characters and lots of banter. I loved this enthralling book from start to finish. Bancroft and Ruby are thrown together when Ruby takes a job watching Bancroft’s exotic pets while he is out of town on business. From the moment they meet, sparks fly and there is tons of chemistry between these two warm hearted, fun characters. Bancroft and Ruby both come from wealthy families and they are often frustrated with all expectations that come with being born into a rich family. Ruby is a struggling actress. She can sing, dance and act, but she hasn't been able to find a job and she is finding it impossible to pay her bills. She is too proud to ask her father for money because he does not support her acting career and thinks Ruby should be working in the family business. Ruby is refreshing and her inner dialogue is hilarious. Bancroft is a former professional rugby player and is now working for his family's prestigious hotel chain. He is sexy and a nice, down to earth guy, who is rough on outside but sweet inside. He is a big guy with battle scars from years of playing rugby. Once he meets Ruby, she is all he wants and he has no interest in any one else. I fell in love with both of these characters. Even though Ruby and Bancroft were brought up rich and entitled, they aren't stuffy or elitist. They are practical and can't stand rich, pompous people. Neither of them follow the rules. Ruby is sarcastic, irreverent and funny. I loved everything about this breezy, light, funny story. There is a slow build up with lots of sexy banter and sarcastic remarks. There are also fun secondary characters and I hope to see more of them in future books. Ruby’s best friend is a wonderful addition to the story and I am hoping she will get her own story in the future. This is told from both POV’s so we know what Bancroft and Ruby are thinking and feeling. I was given an advanced copy of this book to write an honest review for Netgalley and Cocktails and Books.

THE HOTTEST PET-SITTER BOOK YOU WILL EVER READ. Ok, so I've heard lots about Helena's series and I knew I wanted to read them, but I wanted to sit down and read uninterrupted. So when the opportunity arose, I sat down and read this one, cover to cover, in 3 hours... then I sat down and read the next one cover to cover in another three hours. 48 hours later, I read all five books in the series so far (and book 1.5).... This book particularly made me fall in love with Hunting's writing all over. The story is great, the scenes are hot, and you will love love love love love Bancroft more than I can even explain. It's very easy to follow, great writing, and easy to get attached to these characters. Do yourself a favor and read this entire series ASAP.

Spoiled with daddy issues. 3 stars becuase Bane was great. Well it started out pretty good. Ruby is a spoiled rich girl who's upset with her father because he left her mother. Apparently having young wives is good for her fathers image being head of a pharmaceuticals company that invented the penis hardening pill. Funny. Ruby wants to be in theatre, actor. Father wants her to work in his multimillion dollar company. She's rebelling. She wants to make it on her own. Now keep in mind that her father has paid her rent for five years, while she was in college and after graduation. Also paid for college. Normal people striving for independence do not have their parents paying their rent for five years. A month would be asking too much in most cases. Her best friend, Amie, which I think is the real story, is getting married. Ruby meets, by accident, Bane. Due to a ridiculous amount of writing by the author, they end up in a relationship. Bane I love. He's funny. Ruby is even funny. The story is just too long. Covered with ridiculousness and making it incredibly boring. It took me three days to finish this story. Three days because I kept dosing. I was going to quit, but chose to continue because I wanted to see if there would be insight into why Amie was marrying Armstrong. He was a real princess. Unfortunately, we never understand why she's marrying him. She doesn't really seem to love him. I think that story was more interesting than a spoiled girl trying to teach daddy a lesson. If this is a series, I will not be following. 24 chapters was too long. However, I think even if it were cut in half, it would still be boring. Ruby was spoiled and ashamed of the choices she made to get to where she ends up. Which was not bad, by the way. Working/ dancing at a club, legally, to earn a living was shameful to her because of where she came from. High Society. She used her own judgment of herself to justify lying to everyone about where she was working. Hypocritical considering she constantly judged the rich for who they were. Who she was too. Pages and pages of her tantrums. I will say I'm in the minority. Read for yourself.

Great characters...laugh out loud funny!. This is the first book by Helena Hunting I have read, and I've got to say I loved it! Such great characters and a laugh out loud entertaining story! I will certainly read more from this author. Ruby Scott is having a hard time making it on her own as an actress and dancer but the last thing she wants to do is leave New York City and go back home to Connecticut to work for daddy at his pharmaceutical company. Ruby is hoping for her big break at her audition the next day because she really needs the money. For now, Ruby is at her best friend, Amalie "Amie", engagement party and at least is getting to eat some real food instead of the ramen noodles she has been living on. Ruby decides to head home, stopping at the restroom first. On her way out, she runs into a nicely dressed, huge, sexy guy and almost falls over. He thinks she is his date coming on to him and starts kissing her and Ruby ends up kissing him right back. When said date shows up things go to hell. Ruby finally leaves, gets home and falls asleep thinking of Awesome Kisser. The next day Ruby wakes up not feeling too well....and tanks the audition in a unique way! She also finds out she is being evicted from her apartment because daddy stopped paying the rent! Amie stops by after Ruby is feeling better and convinces her to come to dinner with her. She is meeting her fiance, Armstrong and his cousin, Bane. Amie explains that Bane is leaving the country for a few weeks and needs someone to help take care of his two pets and that maybe Ruby can just stay at his place while he is gone. Imagine Ruby's surprise when Bane is actually Awesome Kisser! When Bane hears the story about how he ruined Ruby's audition, he agrees to let her stay at his place while he is gone since he feels guilty. Two days later Ruby packs up her apartment and moves in....now the fun can begin! These two are still very attracted to each other but since Bane is leaving, they don't act on it....but the verbal sparring is great! Bane leaves the country and these two continue their sparring through texting. This quickly changes to phone calls and then video chatting. Over the course of next 5 weeks these two spend most of their free time talking and getting to know each other. As the days go by, their feelings are becoming more intense. I just adored the relationship these two were forming just based on phone calls. It was fun watching their feelings change. The way Ruby was with Francesca and Tiny was great! I loved how fun it all was. Bane is getting anxious to get back home to spend some quality time with Ruby, while Ruby knows she needs to find some type of job so she can move out of Bane's place by the time he gets back. Ruby finds a job, but doesn't admit to Bane what type of job it really is. By the time Bane gets back, the sexual tension between these two is about to explode. I really liked these two together. I loved the part where Bane found out where Ruby was actually working! It was great watching these two slowly build up being a real couple, and having to deal with some real issues and I just loved how their happy ending came to be.

Engrossing and Utterly Compelling!!!. Helena Hunting does it again! If it's irreverent and uber sexy, chances are Helena Hunting had a hand in it… and wrote the $h*t out of it! Shacking Up is bawdy and brash and romantic and oh so sexy. The characters practically leap off the page. They completely draw you into the story and you just can't help but become invested in their lives. At that point, rooting for their happy ending just becomes second nature. This is a book that is intriguing and insightful, engaging and impassioned, enchanting and provocative. You will be hooked from the beginning and will remain riveted to the very last page. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an engrossing and utterly compelling read. *I was given a copy of this book via NetGalley and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are my own.

Great as always. I have read all of Helena's books and he'll love all of them this is just as good as all the others. It's funny and has enough sexiness in it- I can't wait for the next one

A new ROMCOM that you will get addicted to!. I Love Helena Hunting and have been a fan since the Clipped Wings and Pucked series! Shacking up was a whole new RomCom that she adds to her collection. I was completely enamored with Shacking Up and the characters that bring the story to life. The laughs, the crazy flirting, the denial, and then of course the explosive sexy scenes. Helena Hunt brings it all with this book and I love it more for that. Ruby was the chick I loved to hear talk. Her sassiness and comebacks were on point. Bancoft, with his sexy self, shows a little bit of vulnerability. He is pleased when Ruby shows her interest and she helps him see himself as a person. I love these two together! The banter and playfulness had me giddy. I am can not wait to see what Helena has next for us!

Fun read!. This is the first book outside of the Pucked series that I've read. And it was definitely a fun and sexy romcom. In fact there were parts that I giggled at and with her descriptive writing, it was almost like watching a movie. I loved Bane.....such a stand up kind of guy! And the heroine's friend Amie....I hope there is a book for her too! Now the heroine.....she definitely resembled Violet (from the Pucked series) in her antics. She was a bit of a contradiction. She wanted to stand on her own two feet, yet she had no problem accepting a lot of money and help from Bane. She acted as if the condo was her own....bringing in work friends to practice......she probably ruined the floors! She talked about her independence and wanting to be self-supporting.......yet accepting $2000/wk for pet sitting was ok? Also the whole sleeeping in his bed was a bit ridiculous. I did like her though and her interactions with Bane was fun, sexy, and sweet. I felt the conflict at the end was a bit unbelievable......I didn't see where she made the connection between the money and sex. And her jumping to conclusions regarding the whole Brittany thing was not in character, especially since she had been dating Bane for 5+weeks. It was not a real conflict like the one in Pucked with Alex and Violet(where he did really hurt her). All in alll, it was a fun breezy read!

Shacking up with pets. In Shacking Up, Ruby meets Bancroft with a kiss. This kiss turned into the flu which caused her to vomit during auditions. With no job, no money, and no apartment, Ruby gets evicted from apartment. Fortunately, Bancroft needed a pet sitter offering Ruby his condo for the next five weeks to make up for giving her the flu. This was a great introduction, but that’s where the greatness ends. From this point on it became a game of naughty thoughts and unnecessary commentary. The execution was repetitive and wordy. These characters aren’t very interesting. The sexual banter was okay in the beginning but the shock value and fun wore off. The premise was strong but the delivery fell flat. I skimmed through most of the book. This wasn’t a good fit for me: Ruby’s issues with her father, Bancroft’s issues with his father, The pets, and Amie and her fiancé. The only fun part was Ruby auditioning.

Dropping the towel. Helena's done it again. Loved this book so much! Ruby and her personality were hilarious. She quickly became my second favorite female character. I haven't laughed this much since Violet from Pucked (who happens to actually be my favorite female character). And Bane, sizzling hotness that he is, has become one of my top five of my book boyfriends. Oh umm, I mean my favorite male characters.. ahem, anyway. The story flowed so well and was so well written that I didn't want to put it down at all! One of my favorite books this year. Actually no, one of my favorite books ever. I can't wait to see what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Smart & Funny Lead Couple. Unique, entertaining pets!. > > Judging a Book by it's Cover < < Hot male in a white towel with stark white background, making that tan, chiseled torso the main focal point. Strong title and author fonts. Synopsis sounds fun! > > Looking Deeper < < POV ~> Alternating first-person perspectives, boldly defined. Despite the hotter than hell cover, if you are looking for a story with a ton of smoldering sex scenes, you may be slightly disappointed. Ruby and Bane barely have any actual physical proximity until about 75% into the story, but once they are breathing the same air again, things do heat up and intensify quite quickly. There's a lot of fun chemistry between these two and they both seem to take joy in the fact that they are each a little bit rebellious to their social standings and non-conforming to the elitist standards, regardless how much friends and/or family push and try to mold them. Several of the secondary characters are intentionally dislikable. Although this is Ruby and Bane's story, I had kind of hoped to find out what happened with Amie and Army (secretly hoping for a breakup) and the story behind Lex's strange behaviors (who knows, maybe he wanted Amie for himself! Ha! *Gasp*, or maybe Brittany, eww). Regardless of the potential for subplots, this story was fun. I loved the non-traditional Franny and Tiny, having 5 "Frannies" myself. The plot dynamic and flow was really good, most conflicts were created by a lack of or misinterpretation in communication which could have been avoided altogether if they'd just talked to one another like they should have, but then again... we'd not have the drama to keep us suspended - even for a few pages - if they were too open all the time. Predictability was low to nil. The conclusion provides an implied HEA for the couple but leaves open ends for several secondary characters. Overall, I found the story to be enjoyable and entertaining. The characters were smart and spirited. The story was fun and fluid. . So much fun!. This author is one of my go to authors for romantic comedy and sports romance, so when I had the opportunity to read Shacking Up, I jumped at the chance. This story had me laughing out loud on numerous occasions. I loved the slow buildup of their relationship. They were left with an attraction, but time wasn’t on their side as Ruby was so sick and Bane had to leave on a five-week business trip. They had to communicate by video chat, text messages and phone calls. On this five-week journey, they learned about each other and boy did the tension build! This is a slow burn romance, until they finally combust. There is so much to this story, there is great fun times and the animals are adorable. Yes, even the spider! The secondary characters are intriguing and a few of them I wanted to throw my iPad at! I really enjoyed this fun and sexy read! This author doesn’t disappoint and I certainly hope this will be part of a series, as the secondary characters definitely have potential!

Another must read from the uber-talented Helena Hunting.. I loved this book. It's chock-full of Helena Hunting's brand of witty humor and sizzling sexy times and amazing characters. Ruby is hilarious and I loved her sense of humor and sarcasm. She's strong-willed and independent. Her determination to succeed on her own merit is inspiring. I love that she's following her dreams, despite constant protests and lack of support from her family. After a surprise toe-curling kiss from a stranger, Ruby is riddled with bad luck, in both her career and her personal life. When she finds out who the mysterious kissing connoisseur is, Bancroft Mills, she lets him know that he's to blame for all her current woes. So, Bane offers her a temporary solution to all her problems. Bane is... all the things. God, he made me laugh and swoon and laugh and swoon and... *dreamy sigh* He's gorgeous and big and muscular and sweet and funny and sexy and has pretty body parts and he's not always a gentleman. He's definitely top book boyfriend material. The relationship between Bane and Ruby is epic. It starts as a friendship and slowly morphs into a bit of a flirtation and then comes the sexual innuendo and the sexual tension. It's glorious! I love a good slow burn. But, holy guacamole, once that fire catches... *fans self* The story as a whole is just fantastic. Great secondary characters (just wait until you meet Francesca and Tiny), unique plot line, lots of laughs and sexy times, with a wee bit of angst thrown in. It wouldn't be a Helena Hunting book without a touch of heartache. Another must read from the uber-talented Helena Hunting.

Right out of the park!. It's another home run. I loved this book so much I couldn't put it down!!! Can't wait to read the next book!!

A fun read. A stand alone novel from the very talented Helena Hunting. Shacking Up had me laughing so much it hurt. The chemistry between down on her luck Ruby Scott and the super rich hotel magnate Bancroft (Bane) Mills had my temperature on the rise; they simply sizzled together. Romantic comedy is fast becoming my go to genre to read. Shacking Up was one of those books that had me laughing, smiling and generally feeling great. I love Ms. Hunting's style of writing, she ensures that her characters are not “perfect”. Ruby is an extremely relatable and likeable character and whilst Bane is so far out of her (and my) league, he was also down to earth,, Helena Hunting told a story that had me entertained and captivated from the start. Bane really did swoop in to save the day, a modern day knight in shining armor. If you want a fun, not too long romantic comedy to read, then I highly recommend Shacking Up, you won't be disappointed.

Hilarious Romantic Comedy. A new standalone from one of my favourite authors, once again Helena Hunting has proved she is the queen of rom-com. I love a book that makes me laugh and Shacking Up is hilarious. Ruby is having a hard time and needs to find a new place to live so her best friend suggests she pet sits for Bancroft who happens to have a couple of very unusual pets that need special attention. Bancroft is an ex rugby player who is now trying to prove himself in his fathers company that means a lot of traveling and no time for romance well that was until he literary bumped into Ruby at his best mates sort of engagement party. This book has it all, characters you can relate too, banter that will have you laughing out loud and some pretty hot faceTiming but most of all this author has a way with her tongue in cheek writing that will have you coming back for more. Looking forward to the next book from her.

Shacking up. Note, I have read these books out of order. This is the second book in the series I have read. I think I had marked this book a bit lower than the first book I read and mostly it’s just because the plot was a little less interesting for me. Like the whole ferret and spider thing… meh. But the romance and spice had me flipping through the pages as fast as I could. It’s kinda a slow burn, in that they don’t get together until over half way through the book, but there’s lots of that lovely anticipation and flirting that makes romance books great. Dual POV, med spice, 18+

Fun and sexy. This book was a Lot of fun to read ! I had quite a few laugh out kid moments and found bane and Ruby’s friendship to lover story fun and sexy! This story is definitely a slow burn romance , which is entertaining and lovable !! A great read !
