Negotiations. The Negotiator by Avery Flynn is the perfect title for this wonderful and funny book, but it doesn’t describe what you might expect. What turns out to be a brotherly prank turns into lots of fun, new experiences, and lots and lots of negotiations. Sawyer Carlyle is a big picture person. Don’t give him the little details. He has a plan and he sticks to it. When his mother keeps parading high society women as potential wives for Sawyer he decides enough is enough. He needed a buffer to get his mother to stop. Enter Jane Clover Lee, temporary worker and world explorer. Clover decided early in life she didn’t want the life her mother has, giving up her desires to keep the peace with her father. Instead of settling Clover works only long enough to support her next adventure. Working as a buffer was a natural fit for Clover. She wasn’t so sure about the fake fiancé part. Sawyer and Clover butt heads over negotiations to make this charade successful but neither thought about the consequences of rewriting the expectations or fulfilling their roles in this farce. I really enjoyed reading this book despite never figuring out who is really the better negotiator. Ms. Flynn did an excellent job keeping me interested in this story so that I had trouble putting it down. I highly recommend this outstanding book to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Hot and funny!. I really enjoyed this novel of laughs, romance and heat. A very strong determined woman meets a high powered workaholic and sparks fly! Sawyer Carlyle, head of Carlyle Enterprises, is in a difficult negotiation with a client in Singapore. It doesn't seem to be going well, and is taking over his life. At the same time his Mom has started a Marry Sawyer Off campaign. At every turn his Mom shows up with beautiful women on display. He's trying to avoid her at all costs, but Helene Carlyle is determined, intimidating and not put off easily. Hunter (Sawyer's brother) has placed an ad for a "buffer." Sawyer according to the ad is " Snarky. Workaholic. Demanding. So what? He was who he was and wasn't about to apologize." Who could possibly want to work for a man like him? Jane (Clover) Lee needs a job and money for six weeks. She is a temp job specialist and is hopefully heading to Australia to save endangered Rock Wallabees. As she waits for an interview among a crowd of very put together men, a very regal woman shows up with 2 fashion model look a likes and demands Sawyer go to lunch. Clover sees her opportunity and steps up and efficiently sends the woman away, only to find out she is Sawyer's MOTHER. She heads for the door knowing she's done. Next thing she knows she is negotiating her salary, starting at ten thousand for six weeks, ending up with fifteen. Sawyer's has never been taken out of a negotiation like that. He is shocked and strangely attracted! It turns out Clover has a lot of talents, she speakers five languages, including Malay, and helps with his Singapore project, but most of all, she gets under Sawyer's no commitment only business skin. Clover really needs to head to Australia, or does she? The characters are so much fun, and I think Hudson needs a story of his own. Be happy to read that one too. If you like strong female characters with soft hearts you will love this story. I received this novel from the publisher for an honest review. Pat Fordyce

I tried... This book started out so good. Great characters, lots of humor and then, nothing. Immature behavior,corny, not so funny situations. Couldn’t finish....

Sexy and fun!. What a romance! I got hooked on it from the first chapter. I love how the book leads the story in a fun, sexy and straight reading. I enjoyed reading the description of the lovemaking… beautiful story! At the end it was a surprise (in a good way) that their moms had different reactions when they found out the truth.

Flynn's best work yet. When I compare Flynn's writing to her earlier works, I give her 5 stars. I have been reading books by this author for a few years now. While Flynn writes a variety of romance styles, her best quality is that of the rom-com. Some of my favorite books are the Sweet series with sisters of a questionable past trying to recover their family business in their hometown. (check them out if you got this far in my review!) The Negotiator has topped Avery's book list for writing. I think this is her best work yet. The story may have been predictable (to a point), but she is outdoing herself in writer's growth. It's fun to see these changes. And defend all you want, but a poorly edited book really distracts from the storyline and you don't have that here. And how about those characters. Clover is one of my favorite heroines to date by Flynn. She is tough as nails, but yet has this "unsure" quality. She sees the negativity that we all see in ourselves, but she presents herself in a confident and take-no-crap way. She has no filter which leaves Sawyer open-mouthed at times...literally. And kept me chuckling throughout the book. So if you are looking for literary genius with a story of magnificent proportions, go check out the non-fiction section. If you are looking for a good, fun, weekend or even one-sitting read with a lot of romance, then look no further!

loved it. Interesting characters and plot. Minor typos throughout the book, but overall a great book! Reminds me of 50 shades of grey. I wish there was a sequel about Sawyer and Clover and not Sawyer’s brother :(

Loved it. I don't often buy books but the rest of this series is on my list to by. I highly recommend this book. Very funny and week written.

The Negotiators. Disappointed. The story might have been good if not for the filthy language. Why do these authors think they need to use filthy language to make the story interesting? There are many famous woman authors who have been writing for years and have never had to resort to filthy language to be successful. Maybe that is the reason why they are.

Just shy of porn. It's a good read even though the plot was predictable - boy meets girl boy loses girl boy gets girl and lives happily ever after. But, the characters are fun and if you left out the porn, it would be a great book.

Funny, witty and romantic!. I love Clover and Sawyer’s story! The witty, funny and clever remarks from Clover to Sawyer’s inability to see beyond the big picture initially and then when he did! Oh my! I felt both their pain but in the end, it was just so heartwarming and romantic. What a great well written book!!!

The Negotiator by Avery Flynn. If you adore romcoms, you’re going to thank Ms Flynn for this hot novel about Clover & Sawyer‼️. They meet when he hires her to be a buffer - her duty is to keep his mother from incessantly pushing siocialites his way to force him to the altar‼️ Clover is smart, beautiful, works only long enough to fund her next adventure! Sawyer is CEO of the family business & totally absorbed in his next deal, but after seeing how well his new hire fits with his plans, they come up with a scheme where Clover is to be his fake fiancé for a limited time❣️. The results are hilarious at times, & run the gamut of emotions from hot, steamy, heartwarming, & heartbreaking to keep you turning the pages to find out what happen next! A swing and a miss. Talk about unrealistic and you have described this story line. Too much too fast with hi nice to meet you and tomorrow we move into together, we’re is the work up to the pairing? I won’t be looking to read the next two books in the series.

Uncomplicated Love. Made complicated. I haven’t read a good romance book in a while. Been reading thriller mysteries and some paranormal books. But really enjoyed this book, it had fun, adventure, romance and people complications. People can complicate the simplest things. If we fall in love then it should make us accept and understand our loved one.

Take a wild ride with Clover and Sawyer. What the heck is a buffer as a job? Well Clover doesn’t really understand the job but money is money and she needs to save for her trip to Australia. Her interview is short and when she runs off Sawyers mother she is hired. Ms. Flynn hit it out of the park once again. She writes two characters that are total opposites but will have you laughing out loud and fanning yourself with their off the charts sexual tension. I loved Clover. She is running from the life of becoming her mother by taking odd jobs and visting different countires while trying to save the world. Sawyer is centered around business. There is no place for anything else in his life including the dates his mom is trying to get him to go on in the operation marry Sawyer off. All this makes for a great book. You will ride the roller coaster of a ride that Sawyer and Clover will go through as they navigate their feelings for each other. They come out a winner in every scenario that is against them. I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book.

Excellent book. Interesting and captivating story

Loved it. LOVED this one!! It's fun, witty, and sexy good. The overall premise is great but the characters make this one memorable. Clover is my new favorite female character! Workaholic billionaire Sawyer Carlyle was only joking when he commented to his brother that he needed a "buffer". Mainly to keep their meddling, wedding crazed mother at bay. But when his brother actually posts and ad and he has someone applying he's intrigued. He's always thought of himself as the king of negotiating but he realizes how wrong he is when the applicant, Clover Lee, quickly out negotiates him for the position. That should have been his first red flag but before Sawyer knows it he's doing things he never would have done before Clover. Good thing she's only around for six weeks or he'd really be in trouble!! Put this on the must read list. I highly recommend it.

flat out sweet and endearing. A rich brotherly prank between the Carlyle family, leads to the free-spirited Clover Lee to apply for a position as Sawyer Carlyle buffer between himself and his mother. Sawyer’s mother has plans to get him married off and is throwing every socialite she can find at him. While Sawyer just want to focus on business and growing his family’s legacy. Appearing as complete opposites, the chemistry between Sawyer and Clover makes for highly entertaining reading. Not only are Clover quirks laugh out loud funny but the immediate attraction and growing friendship make this a totally believable and swoon worthy story-telling. Add in controlling and over bearing parents and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a perfect contemporary romance. THE NEGOTIATOR is a flat out sweet and endearing. Emotionally invested from the start, I couldn't help but love Clover aka Jane. What EVERY contemporary romance should be, Flynn balances the humor and conflict, the swooning and the steam to make a fantastic read. I have to admit I was totally taken by surprise with the puppet master of this entire event and love how Flynn played it so well. FANTASTIC READ!!. I knew from the moment I saw this cover I was going to love this book! It DID NOT disappoint!! This story sucked me in from the first page!! Sawyer is an uptight, executive who can only deal with the big picture and I could not keep track of how many times I wanted to smack him upside the head. Clover is a free spirit who is afraid she'll fade away if she isn't grabbing life by the balls. When these two meet it is like oil and water but oh, how sexy it was when they got together!! This story will touch your heart and send you on an emotional rollercoaster right up to the very end. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I absolutely adored this book!. I absolutely adored this book! It was funny, sweet, heartwarming and very sexy! Sawyer Carlyle had to take over the family business after his father's sudden death. His mother is afraid that he is working too much and wants to find him a wife. When his brother Hudson places an ad to help Sawyer dodge unwanted attention, he never expected to find a force of nature like Clover Lee. She was beautiful, intelligent and sassy. When she effortlessly and hilariously steps in and sends his mother away, he reluctantly hires her. Negotiations between the two are fast as Clover out maneuvered and beguiled Sawyer. Clover is only looking for a temporary job to fund her next adventure. She never wanted to stay in one place and turn into her mother. When she must pose as Sawyers fake fiance, and move in with him, the re-negotiations are even more hilarious. Clover has a way of rising above her insecurities and challenging the socially awkward but super sexy Sawyer. She entices him to do things he never thought would be so much fun. Their banter is hilarious and their chemistry is explosive. When they both start to imagine the possibility of a future together, their big picture plans get in the way. There were so many laugh out loud moments but many sweet and heartwarming moments as well, not to mention their fiery passion! Their family and friends are all intriguing and wonderful characters adding to the fun and rounding out this story. This is the perfect blend of humor, charm, emotion and steam. It captured my heart and had me totally engaged from start to finish. I definitely recommend this must read romance!

Missing. If I wanted to read about negotiating the this is the perfect book. If I want to read about sex the you have it in here as well. But it seems to lack is humor! Not a book I would recommend because I was not looking for overblown sex scenes but I was looking for romance and humor.

No negotiations about how great this book is. What a great read this is. As a personal buffer Clover Lee applies for the position because she always is looking for the craziest and short term jobs, where Sawyer Carlyle who the buffer is for but did not put the ad out. These two have chemistry are great together who expects that a fake job will turn into a fake job but can it turn into real love. Avery Flynn again makes you want more with great character and a great story. Sawyer and Clover are quirky and great story.

Meh 😕. It was aweful from the beginning. I had trouble reading beyond the first chapter.

The Negotiator. I found the book different from the other books I have read so far and enjoyed it immensely. The negotiations between the characters were intelligent and amusing. A great read.

Perfect introduction to a new author for me. I can't believe this is my first Avery Flynn book, where has she been hiding ... This is a book about opposites and as the saying goes quite often "opposites attract " and that's exactly what happens in this hilarious rom-com. Clover Lee has applied to be a buffer for Sawyer Carlyle, she is hired to stop his mother sending him eligible women after all he is very happy being single, he has no time for relationships well that was until Clover came into his life and messed up his routine. Clover is so different to any other women he has met she is not afraid of his mother, she loves flea markets and her ideal day is renovating a treasure picked up from a local flea market ..... The chemistry between these two is apparent from the very start and Clover's quirky talk out loud moments are just hilarious but what I really loved about this book was the storyline, two people learning about each other, growing into friends and becoming lovers. Avery Flynn certainly knows how to write a perfect rom-com giving you just the right amours of humour, lust,love and conflict. This was a perfect way to be introduced to a new author and I will be looking at all of her other books.
