said my mother
as she held me in her arms as i wept
think of those flowers you plant
in the garden each year
they will teach you

in order to bloom

Rupi â¤ď¸. She makes you feel as if your there with her writing and sharing the very same experiences. As a woman, as a daughter, as a lover she lets us in and in many ways weâve all experienced life as she has. Itâs beautiful. Raunchy. Itâs everything. Thank youâ¤ď¸
Accent. The poem âaccentâ was so meaningful to me. Thank you Rupi for fresh, deep and genuine poetry that touched my soul. I read MILK AND HONEY and THE SUN AND HER FLOWERS back to back. They are books to read and re-read all over again.
The Sun and Her Flowers. As a man, it gave me such insight. My appreciation has been magnified. Thank you.
so good. Love this sheâs an amazing writer. Canât wait to start the other books! Love the sunflower analogy throughout the book.
Exceptional. Kaur truly captures her essence in this book. I read her last one âMilk and Honeyâ and I adored both. âThe Sun and Her Flowersâ is more detailed, as it tells a perpetual story. She carefully and precisely wrote about her struggles with self love and acceptance. She also writes about the adversity her family had to face as immigrants. Her story about immigrants is absolutely humbling and inspiring. Itâs amazing how she manages to express her parentâs situation and how it impacted her. The author is a true poet with an amazing mind, exposing the common problems of society, and her solutions, in sweet poetry.
Loveeee it. Loved the book. Loved milk and honey as well. Ughhh I love her work in general.
10/10 đ. What an amazing inspiring book! Never read anything like this before
Wow. This was inspiring and absolutely remarkable
Def. recommend. This was amazing!
MAGNIFICENT. This book is filled with such raw words that are able to paint such a vivid picture. These poems really do make me feel and think on those thoughts that have felt this words before. I love this book and had such a connection to it. So amazed by the author!
Very good start to the year. Its easy to relate parts of the story to something happening in your life and it helps give a different more positive perspective out. I enjoyed the emotional journey the book is organized into.
"đĽ°". Amazingđ
Stunning!. These poems are stunning and well written. Unlike her first book, this one was less relatable and targeted a more specific audience. Nothing wrong with that, personally unable to relate to her background. Still beautifully written!
wasnât very intriguing pt 2. i bought this book and her previous book because a lot of people recommended it to me (friends, mutuals, people online) and honestly, itâs very unsatisfactory. most of the poems arenât really poetry. itâs sad that many people consider their writings to be poetry just because you can call anything poetry now. the definition of poetry is, âliterary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre of literature.â the problem with this is that a lot of her âpoemsâ are too simple. theyâre something like a sentence you could say to a friend, but divided into different stanzas. most of the poems donât show any literary expertise. there arenât many metaphors or figurative language, no rhyming, or distinctive/individual style...
It was alright.. I purchased this book shortly after it hit shelves, because I was enthralled by Milk and Honey. I found this book to be less relatable, and it seemed as though some of the poems were simply remakes of ones found in Kaurâs first hit book. I read this cover to cover in about 20 mins and ended up gifting it to a friend who was going through a hard time. It wasnât money wasted, since I was able to gift it, and it was $10, but all in all, I would say this is not one of Kaurâs best compostitions. Hoping the next is a bit more original!
most amazing pure book. what my gf liked about it he book itâs how itâs relatable and itâs something that many have experienced. i like this book this is the first book i ever read with my gf.
The Sun and Her Flowers. My second read by the author. Her first collection was given to me as a Bday gift this past October. I felt in love with her openness and truth. Therapeutic and cleansing!!! Couldnât wait for her newest book- as beautiful as the first. An amazing talent, far deeper than her 25yrs. She has walked this way before. A must read for anyone and everyone trying to understand love, loss, giving up and moving forward! VRay J I Louisiana

Amazing. Great book some pages are a little PG-13 but it's still such an amazing book.
đ¸đ¸đ¸. Amazing she has done it again!!
Great Bookđ. Very good book đ¤đ˝ itâs really amazing at how the amount of poetry that was written in this book. Everything is realistic đ
Poetry at its finest. Inspirational poetry about heartache , healing , heritage , love, body positivity, etc.
â¤ď¸. So so good
Spectacular!. This poetry book is definitely in my top three! I loved the poetâs use of imagery and words. Her sketches and drawings provided a much more beautiful experience.
Stunning. This book gave me the strength to change, to fully embrace myself as the woman I am, and so I should define my worth by myself instead of peopleâs view of me. Absolutely worth reading â¤ď¸
Oh. My. God.. I swear to god itâs like reading what my soul needed to hear.
Not real poetry. Most teenage girls who are passionate in writing poetry can write something to at least this level. I understand how you want to increase your audience by simplifying your poetry, but this sounds too generalized. Most of these few lined poems can be found in a descriptive novel, Kaur definitely has an interesting perspective, but her tumblr-Esque illustrations and her instagram poems are far too basic to be considered fine art. This book is definitely overhyped.
The sun and her flowers. Amazing!
The Sun and Her Flowers. I first discovered this book from a post someone had made on some social media platform. The post was an image of one of the pages in this exquisite piece of literature. Iâd like to pick my favorite poem from this collection, and say it was the one that drew my attention, but I simply canât choose just one. I highlighted every poem that stood out to me until I realized I was highlighting almost all of them. I canât even remember which one stood out to me most, because every poem in this book is so wonderfully written. Rupi Kaur illustrates her life and experiences so vividly. You can feel her emotion in every syllable. It took me quite a while to finish reading this piece. At first, I quickly read through the pages, as I was yearning for more: I couldnât put it down. Itâs not the type of book that makes you think âI need to know what happens nextâ; itâs the type of book that makes you want to know what she feels next, how she grows from these tragedies, not only the experiences themselves, but how she illustrates her emotions and actions she so carefully expresses. When I realized I was nearing the last 50 or so pages, I put it down. I didnât want it to end: I wanted to hold onto the feeling of this experience remaining ongoing. I have, however, finally finished it, after having been reminded that I can always read it again. Iâve rarely found a collection of poems that I love so much. Not many poets keep my attention throughout their poetry books. 10/10 would recommend this piece to anyone who even remotely enjoys reading poetry.
Great Book. mentally healing

Speechless. There is never a poem that doesnât shake me to my core. I love every poem Rupi Kaur writes and pours herself into. Definitely a fantastic read.
10/10. I loved the way she writes. The perspective is brilliant and beautiful. This book is a wonderful tale of what love feels like and the outcomes over it all. This book definitely is a 10/10!
