Twilight by Stephenie Meyer Book Summary

Fall in love with the addictive, suspenseful love story between a teenage girl and a vampire with the book that sparked a "literary phenomenon" and redefined romance for a generation (New York Times).
Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn.
Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife -- between desire and danger.
Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.
It's here! #1 bestselling author Stephenie Meyer makes a triumphant return to the world of Twilight with the highly anticipated companion, Midnight Sun: the iconic love story of Bella and Edward told from the vampire's point of view.
"People do not want to just read Meyer's books; they want to climb inside them and live there." -- Time
"A literary phenomenon." -- The New York Times

Absolutely Recommend!!. I have been prolonging the time before reading this book and now I do not know what was stopping me. I absolutely love this book! I loved the extra detail and scenes that were not always shown in the movie! This book brought the Twilight series back to life in my mind. You definitely would not be wasting time reading this fantastic book!

GUUUYYYYS. GUYS GO WATCH THE MOVIE AND SYIC IT UP WITH SAVE ROCK N ROLL BY FALL OUT BOY PLEASEEEEEE

Wow. (Spoilers) I read this book to make fun of it but in all reality, it was an incredible teen romance. I love creepy and odd romances so I definitely enjoyed it (though thatā€™s not necessarily saying they were in a very healthy relationship). And I truly enjoyed the characters (like Jasper šŸ™šŸ™), I can understand why people dislike the plot and say itā€™s boring or poorly written but it wasnā€™t written to aim at adults it was aimed toward teenage girls, and if you look at it from that perspective it is really good. Also, I don't think Stephenie Meyer was saying that your life is meaningless without a boyfriend I think she was just saying that a teenager with her first love feels like their significant other is the best thing in the world. But I'm just a bookworm with some ideas so, please take this as only my opinion! ^^

Great. Itā€™s wonderful

Twi-hard forever. BEST BOOK EVER I absolutely love this series and itā€™s great. Iā€™ve read this book like 4 times and I still find it great. The later and earlier parts are a little slow but it is still a really great book. And I do feel they portrayed Bella a little bland in the movie but she has so much more personality in the book. Best book ever

Iā€™m addicted (seriously BUY THE BOOK). I fell in love with the book instantly. This book is so amazing in many many ways and it made me go into reading more. Stephanie Meyer is truly a genius cause her writing made me buy THE WHOLE SERIES! so incredible. (team edward btw...love jacob, but heā€™s not really my type yā€™know?)

Read the book donā€™t watch the movie.... In the movie Bella is so dry and boring and I personally blame it on Kristen Stewartā€™s acting, but when you read the book it is soo much better and her character actually has personality. I highly recommend.

Sick. I think the book is sick <3 and I love the background of the characters

Absolutely Horrible. Vampires should never ever sparkle, Bella is not a heroine of any kind and Edward is a creepy old man who sneaks into teen girlā€™s rooms to watch them sleep at night. No thank you.

Ok. Started out kinda slow, however ended as my favorite book of all time.

I think šŸ§›ā€ā™‚ļø RšŸ‘Ž. They creep me out

I love the movie and the book ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøšŸ„°. I love the book and the movie so much. I watched the movie so much that I donā€™t know how many times I have watched it. ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøšŸ’•šŸ’•šŸ˜šŸ˜

so G O O D. Amazing!! I wish the movie was more like the book. Only little things, but all those little things add up. You get to see Bella for who she really is behind all that ā€œawkwardnessā€ & Edward. Heā€™s nowhere as serious as they make him in the movie. Heā€™s that goofy, caring & playful boyfriend whoā€™s crazy in love also & not afraid to show it in the book

*Slightly Incoherent Rant Enclosed*. Iā€™m kinda shocked. I grew up with the movies. (Ya know, those movies where everythingā€™s grey instead of green, you can FEEL Robert Pattinsonā€™s irritation and Bella is this shaking mess 90% of the time? Yeah?) Ok, so I went into this thinking ā€œThis is gonna be so flippin cringey, isnā€™t it?ā€ But Iā€™m s h o c k e d. Bella isnā€™t a normal heroine. She doesnā€™t walk with natural poise, she has low self-esteem, sheā€™s emotional, sheā€™s clumsy, needles make her nauseous, sheā€™s not indestructible, sheā€™s not perfect, etc. But sheā€™s vulnerableā€”humanā€”and frankly much stronger than I am in many ways. (especially at seventeen!) I found myself relating to herā€”rooting for herā€”more often than not, and Iā€™m pleased with that. Edward is still... Puzzling (and entirely in need of Respect Women Juiceā„¢ļø) but heā€™s endearing and not even HALF as creepy as Robert portrayed him to be. He was protective and kind; always, *always*, looking after Bellaā€™s well-being. Being Team Jacob from the start made this book (and will likely make every book after it) very freakinā€™ painful. Just... throwing that out there. (Did yā€™all know that when we meet him heā€™s this tiny 15 year old??? Like... heā€™s a literal baby and idk how I feel about it) And lastly THE. CULLEN. FAMILY. Wow, I love them. Gosh, theyā€™re so amazing, complex and adorable??? But theyā€™re vampires??? I just *flails* I love all of them. So, in short, this book was amazing. Itā€™s only flaw, really, was how often Bella remarked on how ā€˜godlikeā€™ or ā€˜gorgeousā€™ Edward was. I got tired of that really quick. Otherwise, it was entirely amazing: I gib 9/10. (coulda used more Wholesome-Vampiric-Family-Momentsā„¢ļø)

I love this book. Okay this is one of my favorite books, it is so good and interesting, so is the movie šŸ‘ŒšŸ’Æ āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø

AMAZING!!!. I love this book!!! Stephanie is a legend! Sheā€™s so good at writing vampires and wolves! Iā€™ve read it 8 TIMES!!!!!!!! Sooooooo amazing, anyone that hasnā€™t read it is missing out!!! Read it! Buy it!! LOVE IT!!! I ā™„ļø Twilight!

Speechless. Amazing! Iā€™ve never seen these many reviews before that I canā€™t even write myself, except relate to. This series was good. Both the movies and books got me on edge. The type of fandom that will have you chewing your nails on how the next part will turn out. Its so ethereal and beautiful how Isabella and Edwardā€™s lives turn out. The emotions, the charactersā€”youā€™ll be drawn in the pages! I Highly recommend you read this book. Although I do agree with some that it was creepy and highly over the top at this time. But Bella? Your the second half of my soul!

Love. It was great!!!!!!

I'm in love. I loved this book and i am continuing if to read more of the series. it is a real page turned and would definitely recommend!

So good. As soon as I started reading I could barely put it down (staying up late reading it) and as soon as I finished I rushed to the library to get the second, third, and so on.

I didnā€™t love it. I personally though it was only ok. I didnā€™t really like the characters so that may be the reason why, but I also didnā€™t like the plot. The only reason I finished it was because I felt like I needed to see how it ended.

For every single fudging hater. This book is a romance novel. So if you complaining that the book has to much romance, THATS THE FRICKING GENRE.Just cause something has Vampires and Werewolves does not mean it has to be FANTASY. And for those who say that Edward is a stalker. Heā€™s. a. VAMPIRE. What do you expect????šŸ˜‘ And if your complaining in general. We do not need to hear it!!! Being negative will never get you anywhere in life. And if you donā€™t believe me, fine! Be negative, but Iā€™m gonna say I told ya so when everyone is doing better then you. So, my message, short and sweet is, ā€œIf your complaining about this book? Get a actual life, and be considerate of othersā€ I rate twilight five of five AS WELL AS THE WHOLE SERIES.

OMG. So I started to read this book and I was just so bored, but as i got into the book i was like OMG this book is sooooo good because of all the twists and turns and I couldnā€™t predict how the book was going to end and i NEED the next book soo bad!! To anyone who is reading šŸ“– this review You should read this book

Genuinely surprised i liked it this much. I was in high school as the movies were coming out, so this was perfectly geared for my age group. I rebelled against their popularity, however, and I spent the past decade adamant that these books were stupid, Iā€™d never read or watch them, they were badly written and overrated, etc etc. A younger friend of mine recently convinced me to give them a chance, so I did. Iā€™m honestly glad I did. Itā€™s not the most complex of stories, the writing is fairly simple. Edward and Bella both have their fair share of annoying and weird moments. But for all the ridiculous parts, itā€™s also got a lot of entertaining comedic moments, sweet and sad moments that make you ache (Carlisleā€™s backstory moved me to actual tears), and overall itā€™s an enjoyable experience. Stephanie Meyer certainly created a world with enough lore to support her story. Thereā€™s plenty of novels out there with much less structure. And lastly. Team Edward, team Jacob, who cares? Itā€™s Carlisle for me, all the way šŸ˜

Great. Great first entry to a saga and had great development that i think is what Meyer does best. Loved this book and iā€™ll always hold it in a special place for turning me on to this saga. Bella is such a character i realized i related with but although empathize with. storyā€™s great, characters are great, and the setting is great. Highly recommend getting started on this saga

Disappointed in Bella. The characters are hit or miss; some (Edward, Jake, Charlie, Alice) are funny and endearing, but Bella really let me down. She is so fragile and dependent on a big strong man. There are multiple instances of her LITERALLY HAVING TO BE CARRIED everywhere because she is not strong enough to walk. Just so infuriating to see her always needing to be protected and saved and just overall being the stereotypical hot love interest victim for her boyfriend to rescue.

Twilight yes.. Always a spectacular read!

Love. Love love love

Yes!. This is great! Edward is šŸ„µšŸ”„ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„ā¤ļøšŸ˜˜šŸ„°šŸ˜

Awesome. This book is AMAZING and ADDICTING this whole series is incredible and Stephane Myers did wonderful work! Great story plot! CLEAR YOUR SCHEDULE itā€™s addicting and amazing! Fall in love with the characters and feel their happiness and pain. Great read.

Meh. It was definitely better than the movie!

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!. This book was so good. I have to say it got me hooked really fast and I couldnā€™t put it down. Though in the movies I disliked Edward and like Jake more but now I like them just as the same

So good. I love love love this book definitely recommend

Oh lord this is bad. Well where to begin there is so much wrong with this book itā€™s so awkward the characters are pretty unlikeable and i could go on and on the movies are worse

Alright. This book was in the middle for meā€¦ it wasnā€™t my favorite and I did hate it. In general, it was pretty good

Haters BACK OFF!!!. If you think Edward is creepy, shut yo mouth about it. If you donā€™t have anything nice to say about something, donā€™t speak at all. Peace out. February 8, 2022. PeaceKeeper

twilight is the best book iā€™ve EVER read. omgggg where do i start?? i love twilight soooooo much!!!!!!!!!<333333333 jacob is soooo much hotter than edward. i mean, like, look at jakeā€™s abs. theyā€™re wayyy hotter than edwardā€™s pale, vampire body. i mean robert pattinson is FINE, but he doesnā€™t compare to taylor lautner, so, yeah, read the book

Amazing Book!. I have never really been interested in reading books but when I picked up this book, I couldnā€™t put it down for two days! Yes, I finished this amazing book within two days from starting it because I absolutely loved it. This book is so detailed that it brings the story to life way more than you would think. In conclusion, this book is a must get if you are interested in reading a very detailed and beautiful love story! This book is perfect for any young adult, teenager, or adult! If you want a good book to read, read Twilight!

šŸ˜©šŸ¤ŒšŸ¼. one of my favorites.

Love it. So I watched the movies first and feel in love with recommend for all people that love romance and it was the best i Evan bought 6 dolls from it and the trivia game so good and the best actors I think Jackson rathbone, Ashley Greene, Nikki reed, and kellan lutz should be in more. Movies love the first one and Robert and Kristen are my heroā€™s and Nikki reedšŸ¤©šŸ¤©

Submit Title Here. Hey! Lol i cant think of a title. I love this book! ( at least the sample of it ) 100%!

5/5 (spoiler alerts). I personally thought this book was really good. I absolutely loved all the twists and turns (like when James tricked Bella about kidnapping her mother). I couldnā€™t predict what was going to happen, ever, which is a quality I love in books. Also Stephanie Meyersā€™ writing was not basic yet easy to understand, with high emotions and intense scenes. I also liked Bella and Edwardā€™s romance, though I do agree with some people that Bella needs to chill about saying how gorgeous Edward is every five seconds, especially after she was okay with him watching her sleep, but you know what you do you queen cuz who am I to stand in the way of true (and creepy) love?!? I also agree it was slow in some parts, especially in the hospital at the end like WE GET IT YOU LIKE EACH OTHER SRSLY WEā€™VE HAD ENOUGH But I liked Bellaā€™s character a lot: she is funny, sassy, brave and highly relatable. I also liked Edward and his sensitive side, and I LOVED the rest of the Cullen fam (#vamfam4life) my order of favorite to least favorite being Alice, then Carlisle, then Jasper, followed by Esme, Emmett then Rosalie. Iā€™m very curious about Rosalie and her character development and why she dislikes Bella. A character I didnā€™t love, however, was Billy. I was extremely annoyed with him, like BUTT OUT OF BELLAS LOVE LIFE BROSKITO sheā€™s not even youā€™re daughter!!! Also, him saying ā€œWeā€™ll be watching youā€ at the end was extremely creepy. Bella, thatā€™s two people who have watched you without your consent!! And though I like Jacob(heā€™s sweet, nice and funny) and this might go against popular opinion, IM ON TEAM EDWARD BABY!!! BEDWARD FOREVER! (Dang I canā€™t think of a great ship name for Edward and Bella their names are not very compatible haha) Anywho Iā€™m excited to read New Moon to see whatā€™s in store for our characters!

Love it. šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°

LOVE THIS. AFTER YOU READ THIS BOOK U WILL WANT READ AGAIN! it is my favorite book ever! I recommend you read it!!

I think about this series alot. This book came out during middle and high school for me and I was at a very vulnerable age. I was definitely going though an ā€œemoā€ phase and once I read this book, I was hooked. This series changed my life. I still think about these books as an adult. One of my first true loves, and Iā€™d kill to read them for the first time again back when I was 14. Twilight forever.

Great book. I have recently started this series and Iā€™m telling you right now itā€™s the best look Iā€™ve read I have not read the other books but this on is really good

I love it. I loved it so much but only one thing they say that the vampires sparkle in the sun and I personally think that itā€™s incorrect, but other then that I really did love it. But I would like it if Bella was less boy obsessive to.

Meh. I liked the movies because it had a lot of action and details the movies are sometimes very inappropriate so thatā€™s were I didnā€™t like it and the books are so packed with details the books are so big and give me head aches and the author uses inappropriate words itā€™s kinda disturbing and gross

Twilight. This book all though some of it was chringeing. It was good book. Nice introduction to Bella new found life in forks.

Cheesy, uptight and spills like ketchup. Alright i know that many people and film critics on I-tunes are going to ask, Hey Nicholas Becerra why do you like the twilight book? is it accraute to the movie itself well? Twilight Hater didn't play fair with this book and iam not saying the Twilight novel written by Stephenie Meyer the greatest authors of all time (saying that sarcastically) wrote this novel with such delight confidence and heart put into this fantasy love story that reminds a all time classic to all teenage fan girls and rooting for the hot one! Twilight follows Bella Swan moving into a small town of Forks with his cop father Charlie Swan, Bella is about to start High School with such good heart and happyness into creating a new life term. Then Bella meets the myesterious 108-year old vampire Edward Cullen who is stuck in his teenage 17-year old self. The plot of the novel is cheesy and to unmissiable for a new fandom girl upon first reading and this movie is filled with cliches and cheesy writting that this so-called "greatest novelist of all time" can create so many cliches for a romantic fantasy that maybe other women want to live the glamrious relationship with vampires instead of handcuffs if you know what iam saying! When i read this novel it was all what i think about pointless romance story that dewlls into chessy entertainment and cliche diagloue upon Edward and Bella. There was a time when Vampire's were the mean streets of the darkly hell and can live up almost were the world ends. And vampire's back then were scary and quite the exotic creatures but then when this novel got adapted into a feature-length film it runied the vampire brand and what made a vampire so mysterious shallow. The romance is still cheesy and shallow through other plotpoints that didn't make any sense to me or anybody else reading it, but Edward was quite the interesting mysterious character and didn't live up to the hype for the story but i couldn't stop flipping the pages because sometimes the novel's tone gets intense and realistc to the point were Stephenie Meyer is trying to make you feel that your'e actually there and for sure i wasn't tricked from Meyers clever intensity and reasltic no-love lost for to much character development and wooden chimestry between Bella and Cullen or it's just Bella being dullionsoual and imanged Cullen and her relationship with him that felt jetlacking at some points. I felt that Twilight isn't just a vampire fantasy filled to the brim with intense moments and cliche development that is shacton it's certains around Bella a free-spirted teenager who after abandoning her mother and moving in with his cop father meaning that Charlie and Bella's mother are divorced and that Bella had a long-lasting dream about vampire's which makes her crazy and imanged Cullen within her head and her thoughts about her parents relationships so that's all i have to say about Twillight it's a intense romance fantasy with tons of cliches and heart pounding hailrious moments that felt awkward for myself and uncomfortable at some points. rating-6/10

Fail. Epic fail

The pooh. Everyone should read this , it's the pooh take a big wiff

Just the Beginning. There are a few sets of guidelines that most writters tend to follow. Stephenie Meyer bends these guidelines a little while still managing to deliver an engaging, intense, original, and unique story that was never meant to be a standalone due to there being too much depth and elaboration to the world of Twilight for it to be fully delivered in a single novel. Plus, the story is told with such an eloquent and explicit prose that it is very easy to see and feel the world through Bella's perspective.

Chell. Loved it

Amazing book!. Honestly I thought this book would be terrible when I watched the movie, but when I read this book it totally showed me up and was completely divine in every way possible. It taught me NOT to judge a book by the movie. Because they are two VERYY different things.

I love this book.... The book is a million times better than the movie!

Best book I've ever read!. Honestly so good... Better than the movies. Give it a chance and read it, you'll fall in love!

Awesome. ... Saw the movies. Already knew I'd love the books... First one down and living it. Finished it in 2 days.

Ok. This book Is the worst people fall In love with Edward colleen he is disgusting don't read this u might puke Edward is Soo gross I feel like puking thinking about him

Hmmm. Not very good

Great story...terrible storytelling!. After reading Anne Rice's BREATHTAKING Vampire books, in which each sentence is a feast for the senses, I must admit that this book was dull and colourless. I liked the actual story-- just not the talentless way in which it was being told.

Loved it!!. Twilight was fun to read and it was different.

Greatness. This book is very good

<3.<3. Though not the best piece of literary geniusness out there, it was captivating and enjoyable to read. I've read this over half a dozen times since I first read it in grade 7 and now that I am in grade 12, I like to read a few of my favorite quotes just for old time's sake :)

AWSOME. I loved this book true romance with the smalles hint of " sci fi" A vampire falls in love with a human and it's all about how there relation ship developes sweet romantic and action packed Now a major motion movie I love TWILIGHT

Twilight. Despite my prior ,blatant refusal to read this novel ,I read about 80 pages of it and actually somewhat enjoyed it . However, I totally recommend this if you like romance (way better than the movie )

Twilight. This book is awesome!! Never thought I would ever read this kind of book, but now I am captivated by it and i just keep on reading all the time!! :)

Twilight. I love this book! Iā€™ve read it like five times. The characters all have their own unique personality, and the plot is interesting and captivating!

Loved this book. I love this book. I have read it many timeā€™s as a teen and enjoyed it each time. The characters are extraordinary, the plot is amazing, and the mystery draws me in. I loved this book then and I continue to love it now!

Meh.. It was an okay read.. Not the type of book i'd read twice or buy though.

for Romance lovers. I personally don't really enjoy romantic novels, so this book was okay, I guess. If you enjoy romance, definitely the book for you. Not so much of a romantic, I'd reccomend finding another book to read. (:
