Testimony by Anita Shreve Book Summary

At a New England boarding school, a sex scandal is about to break. Even more shocking than the sexual acts themselves is the fact that they were caught on videotape. A Pandora's box of revelations, the tape triggers a chorus of voices -- those of the men, women, teenagers, and parents involved in the scandal -- that details the ways in which lives can be derailed or destroyed in one foolish moment.

Writing with a pace and intensity surpassing even her own greatest work, Anita Shreve delivers in Testimony a gripping emotional drama with the impact of a thriller. No one more compellingly explores the dark impulses that sway the lives of seeming innocents, the needs and fears that drive ordinary men and women into intolerable dilemmas, and the ways in which our best intentions can lead to our worst transgressions.

Too many time and POV shifts. Interesting plot line but jumps around so much it's hard to follow at first. Introduces new characters too far into the narrative (who cares about the lunch lady who only gets one segment?) and has so many points of view it's difficult to care about anybody in the story. Self-consciously artsy construction aiming at different "voices" in some places that interrupts reading flow.

Testimony by Anita Shreve. Good story idea plods a little with character angst all big mistakes of college life are included. Author's other title are better.

Testimony. I really liked this book. It was a real page turner and well written. Enjoy your read.

Not one of her best. I had a hard time getting through this one as it is unlike her other books. Each chapter is about one character from the book and often they give their point of view about the situation at hand. I also didn't find the ending believable. For me it was just not an interesting read and didn't have any of the style and grace her other books have.

Testimony. A fAscinating and beautifully written moral dilemma.

You'll enjoy this one!. Love the way she writes! Very intriguing!!

Stay for the entire ride. The book starts very slow, outlining just average people and everyday lives. It's not to the last statement in the book do you learn why it was written in this context, and the terms and trilogy gave insight to a very precise definition of time, of reason, of life. It teaches the reader to dare, to question, to ponder on things outside their understanding... The mood of the story was dreary, painful, powerful, and I was instantly drawn into the different personalities of the characters who exposed true expedites of human characteristics. Give it a read, it's not a quick one though. It leaves you wondering at the end...

Testimony. You need to get by the first chapter and the sex scene It is integral t o the story, but so unlike anything Shreeve has written befire. I almost didn"t go any further, but later was very glad I picked it up again. A very sad book about how one stupid moment can change many lives. After awhle I couldn't put it down until i finished it.

Hard read, but good.. Each chapter followed a different character, different time period (between 2006 and 2008 I think), and in a different perspective (either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd person.) there was hardly any dialogue. I can usually read a book this length in a day or two, but this one took almost a week. If the book kept the same idea about the scandal, but made the layout of the book a bit different, I think it would have been a lot easier to read.

Mildly Entertaining. This book just kind of ends. It could have been much better. I feel the pieces never really come together. It was worth the 2.99, but not much more than that.

The testimony. This book was riveting and could happen to any young boy, a real good read.

testimony. The book was good, but very hard to grasp. If you are a high level thinker this book is for you, but if your just looking for a pleasureful book...Nah, I wouldn't suggest this one.

Testimony. Okay. I DID Think the incident around which the whole book was centered was blown out of proportion in its seriousness. But the fact that Shreve was able to make a gripping novel with a probing study of guilt out of this "small town scandal" speaks volumes to her talent. The characters are extremely well-drawn, and their individual struggles with all of life's "what if's?" make them represent the concerns of us all. And, these concerns are anything BUT trivial. They are life and death. I think I liked this particular book more than the others I've read by the same author. Overall, a very good read.

Eh just OK. I had heard about this author from a few people and was quite disappointed with this book. There seemed to ne excessive filler material without real instance. The pace of the book was tedious and at points u found myself flipping through pages without even reading them. In not too impressed
