Younger Next Year Book Summary

Turn back your biological clock. A breakthrough book for men--as much fun to read as it is persuasive--Younger Next Year draws on the very latest science of aging to show how men 50 or older can become functionally younger every year for the next five to ten years, and continue to live like fifty-year-olds until well into their eighties. To enjoy life and be stronger, healthier, and more alert. To stave off 70% of the normal decay associated with aging (weakness, sore joints, apathy), and to eliminate over 50% of all illness and potential injuries. This is the real thing, a program that will work for anyone who decides to apply himself to "Harry's Rules."

Harry is Henry S. Lodge, M.D., a specialist in internal medicine and preventive healthcare. Chris Crowley is Harry's 70-year-old patient who's stronger today (and skiing better) than when he was 40. Together, in alternating chapters that are lively, sometimes outspoken, and always utterly convincing, they spell out Harry's Rules and the science behind them. The rules are deceptively simple: Exercise Six Days a Week. Eat What You Know You Should. Connect to Other People and Commit to Feeling Passionate About Something. The science, simplified and demystified, ranges from the molecular biology of growth and decay to how our bodies and minds evolved (and why they fare so poorly in our sedentary, all-feast no-famine culture). The result is nothing less than a paradigm shift in our view of aging.

Welcome to the next third of your life--train for it, and you'll have a ball.

It was a wake up call, very interesting, funny and logical approach of getting in shape. It explained the biological mechanics of how your body works in easy understanding terms. It explained the do's & dont's and made me laugh several times because it was so down to earth and could relate very well with Henry & Chris! It got me motivated and inspired to go forward with these teachings. I started running again, biking and started taking Muay Thai Evolusion classes with back to back Boot Camp strength trainig with my Daughter. Still playing drums with more energy & still rockin' out:-) My arthritis in my big toe is almost gone, I've lost about 15-lbs. I'm back to where I was when I was around 50, & still getting faster, I have more stamina & stronger! I'm 61 years young now & my outlook on life is better, a better attitude, starting a garden in the spring, eating healthier & plan on to be active well into my 90's. My philosophy is, age is just a number keep on Bluesin':-) Thank You Chris & Harry! Awesome Book!👨👍

A great book for anyone who is 50 years or older. Not just another fitness or nutrition book! The ideas of the importance of physical connection, living within ones economical means, and "play", all make sense. Read it. You will be glad you did!

I've read a lot of books lately about the science behind aging, nutrition and exercise. This book boils it down into a simple read. Profound, important messages, for everyone. I would also say, given the rise in obesity, diabetes, cancer, etc. probably not too bad of a read of people much younger than the target of the book. I would suggest that the authors do another book targeted for people in their twenties...this is the start of many of our bad habits.
