After enduring torture and the loss of loved ones during the brief but deadly Fae War, Sookie Stackhouse is hurt and she’s mad. Just about the only bright spot in her life is the love she thinks she feels for vampire Eric Northman. But he’s under scrutiny by the new vampire king because of their relationship. And as the political implications of the shifters’ coming-out are beginning to be felt, Sookie’s connection to one particular Were draws her into the dangerous debate. Also, unknown to her, though the doors to Faery have been closed, there are still some fae on the human side—and one of them is angry at Sookie. Very, very angry.

Dead in the Family. After reading the other reviews, I reluctantly purchased this with low expectations. However, I found myself enjoying it as well as the last 3-4 in the series. I still feel that the supernatural characters introduced in the last few haven't been as fully developed as the first novels which I found so engaging. But there was still enough there to keep me blazing through (although sadly, not enough Eric). I continue to eagerly await the next one.

Disappointing. This book had no real story. I was very disappointed. I've been reading since book one and this is the worst of the series. It seemed to be a book for those who haven't read the previous books and gave them a quick recap of them all.

Meandering plot, inconsiderate product placement. I don't expect master works from such an expansive, serial collection of books, but I expect better than this meandering, underwhelming plot. The book starts and ends with a whimper, and not much in-between. Worse yet, the author seems to have been assigned a quota of one product placement per chapter, which runs the gamut from Jason's favorite steak sauce to Sookie's snacks. These out of place product references detract from the story and offer no benefit to the reader who has already paid the full cost of the book -- it's an offensive practice and I hope other authors have the artistic and personal integrity to eschew selling out their books and their readers.

Almost swayed by reviews. Before I read this book, I was a little sketch about the reviews. But if you like the relationship between Eric and Sookie, this was a great read. Not a lot of action till the end, but worth the $$$$. Also, I liked that CH ended the book that we know there will be more. Can't wait!!!

Not my favorite of the series. This book seemed to stray too far from the usual cast of characters. Too many peripheral characters and not enough focus on the old characters we know and love.

Where's the plot?. This book is the diluted mess that many book series become. I felt like I was watching an episode of True Blood not reading a book. The was no plot. The book just went from scene to scene to scene. I have truly enjoyed this series, but this book felt like the beginning of the end of a good thing.

Fast read. Very disappointed in this book. The beginning was promising, the middle just filler and the end left you asking yourself what just happened. Hopefully the next book in the series is much better.

Love the Dead. Just enough to keep me happy yet leave me wanting more!

I love the whole series!. Can't wait for more.-

Dissappointed. Not bad, but definitely not the best of the series. It was disappointing after the intensity of the ending of Dead and Gone. I expected more and not much happened.

Hmmm. I just posted a review on the Top Paid Sci-Fi iBook at the moment because I didn't think much of it but this is a heck of a lot better. But 'The Interlopers' is still the beat Sci-Fi iBook on the iBookstore.

Not one of my favorites. While it still has my favorite characters Eric and Sookie. The book is lacking that passion I love to read with them. It has to many things going on at once. Not enough Eric and Sookie for my taste. At least not the way I like reading about them. I was a bit disappointed. Still not a bad read!!

Good read. Really enjoyed this.

Transition Book?. After waiting a year for the next Sookie Stackhouse book.....I am sad to review that this book lacked the depth, humor and wonderful Eric/Sookie bander that has made so many of us avid readers of the series. That said, I am still glad I read it and will view this as a transition book to a much (hopefully) hardy next book.

V. Hi. G.

:). Awesome as always!

Dead in Family.. her books just keep getting better and better. I love all of them!!!!

Beginning of the end. Sad to say this one is the beginning-of-the-end of a great series. Between this one and Dead Reckoning it's time for Bill, Erik or Sookie to jump a shark and let the series receive its final death. Thank you CH but all good things must come to an end. Please let the series die a final death of glory and stop milking it.

The book. This book was good but I don't think it should be for us john muir students. I don't mind it because as you may already know I'm mature well mor than others, and some moms may not like there kids reading about a man and woman fighting to have sex. Well that's my point of thought

Disapointed Bliss. I am very disappointed with the reviews I've read. I think everyone is so caught up in the fast pace of the other books they are addicted to the action, looking a Sookie as a character in a book, not as a complexed person even if fictional. Overall I was past happy with this installment. I personally am glad that the book wasn't so fast paced it was relatable while still having the fun supernatural elements.

Death in the Family. I don't want to say I didn't like the book but it was really slow and then when finally started getting good, it was over.

Ehhhh. While I am throughly in love with the series this is least favorite it red like a filler. No real substance. I hope the next one is better

Worst in the series. This book could have been summarized in 2 chapters. In my opinion, there was no reason to read this book which added very little to the overall storyline which was disappointing given every prior book at least had a point/direction to it. Hopefully she will return to her normal self for the next book.

Different, better. I like this darker, serious version of Sookie. It's about time, considering her circumstances. I hope she and Claude remain close, and Jason gets some more FaceTime.

In the end u want more. Which is great for me. Iv read all the sooki series. Loving them all differently. I iked the bit of histories uglier past coming back to bite! Very good. Book. If you have like the others you'll like this. But with only looking for more in the end. ERIC!

Dead in the Family. Wow. Couldn't stop reading. Charlaine Harris at her usual best. Great new story line. Love the new and old characters and anxious to see what's next for Sookie and the gang. Same feeling as after finishing any of Harris' books, can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Was not pleased.. I'll give this book 3 stars only because i have been reading them since day one and because if you read all the books, you have to keep going. Was the book worth reading? Yes. Was the book good? No! Was I disappointed? Yep! But I have years invested in these books and I can't stop. This book did not " feel " like the other books.

Yay. It was amazing!

Better than the last flop!!!!. Couldn't put this one down.

Sookie is great. I have read all the books in less than a month mainly the last 8 in a week and s half. I have not been this glued to a serious of books since the green mile. The last book was slow but leaves me wanting the next one. Keep up the great work and by no means let the plot of the show influence the rest of the books. So far I like the way the books are going tv is just tv it puts a interesting twist on the books.

Missing Book 8!!!. Thanks iBooks for carrying the sookie stackhouse novels. However, why is book 8 missing, "From Dead To Worse"? Please complete the collection for Sookie fans. Thanks in advance.

Why the 'disappointed' reviews?. The only thing disappointing about this is that it is too short. As an avid reader, I see this book as one to entertain yourself and/or to feed your level of enthusiasm and excitement. It is quite good and I love it! The only thing I am waiting for is the next book. The sipnosys of Dead Reckoning was awesome and I am going to pre-order it soon! I hope is as good as the previous books. :) Love you CH!

The worse book in the series. Being a fan of Sookie's books, I found this book the worse. It takes the plot a very long way to develop, so the book tends to get boring and frustrating. It looks like Mrs. Harris tries very hard to cash on a goose that stopped laying the golden eggs. This is a pity.

Strong book with mushy finish. I found the book enthralling in many respects. However, I reached the final page and thought 'huh?'... I am used to strong finishes and was disappointed in the dead space left with the conclusion. No thrill or warmth to lead you to the next installment. With only two more books before this series is brought to an end, I hope we are treated to exemplary story lines to finish out Sookie's character.

I liked the book. I liked the book though it was short. I still hope that Sookie and Bill get back together. I feel that's who she really belongs with. Though it did seem like Eric's love for Sookie was trying to be proven in this story because in the last book Bill's love for Sookie was proven with him almost dying for her.

So, so.... Disappointed about this book given the long and anticipated wait. It was way too short and all over the place. Definitely my least favorite book in the series. I hope the next one is better.

Clean up. This book cleaned up some loose ends, no real excitement or story. Still love the series and the author!

Good but not Great!. Overall I liked this book! It was a little slow in the beginning but got good in the end! I thought it should have gone on a little longer! Hopefully the next book will be filled with more adventures for Sookie!

To little. I was a bit disappointed with this one, as I thought it was missing a real plot. I would have loved to read more about Bill and what happened to him and his " sister" and of course there was very little Eric in this novel which I really missed. Still I can't wait for the next one to come out.

Waiting anxiously. For the next book to come out!!!!! Love the series. Totally worth reading!

Was this a contractual obligation book?. I'm greatly disappointed. This book seemed to be a lot of running around with no real plot. Where was the mystery? A lot of vampire angst and hot bodies without a lot of content I love her writing, especially this series and I guess I was expecting more from this book.
