The Dark Tower VII by Stephen King Book Summary

Creating "true narrative magic" (The Washington Post) at every revelatory turn, Stephen King surpasses all expectation in the stunning final volume of his seven-part epic masterwork. Entwining stories and worlds from a vast and complex canvas, here is the conclusion readers have long awaited—breathtakingly imaginative, boldly visionary, and wholly entertaining.

Roland Deschain and his ka-tet have journeyed together and apart, scattered far and wide across multilayered worlds of wheres and whens. The destinies of Roland, Susannah, Jake, Father Callahan, Oy, and Eddie are bound in the Dark Tower itself, which now pulls them ever closer to their own endings and beginnings...and into a maelstrom of emotion, violence, and discovery.

Great ,however. Really first class series , loved it all .....Except, Why does SK think inserting himself into the story did Anything to help. A literary screw up of epic proportions... The rest was fabulous ......Thanks...

CR. Brilliant--both SK and the story/series. Thank you, sai King, I say thankya big-big.

Stay with it. The story is absolutely amazing don't let the sixth book discourage you the story is worth the time it takes to get through it remember it is not the destination it is the journey

Great story, ruined by an authors ego.. Stephen King is one of the greatest writers of all time, and overall I’ve loved this series. However, it ticks me off to no end that Stephen King wrote himself as a major character in the last two books. If he wanted a brief cameo, that would be fine, but King has literally written himself as a god-like figure and a major plot point in the novel. For gods sake, if you want a book about you, write an autobiography!

Eh.. I thought that the series overall is good but this is the worst epic ending ever. Probably because it wasn't an ending at all. If Roland's next trip through might be the last then why didn't we read that one? Stop at the first ending and make up your own final one. You will like it better.

A great end!. A great end to an amazing series!

Wow. Thus whole series has just been amazing I loved every min of it!!!! I wish that there was more but yet at the same time no because the 7 books just makes it that much more wow.

Best I've read in a long time. The characters pulled me on even when things happened that I didn't like. My favorites were Jake and Oy. The symbolism was important to this series but I don't much care for symbolism. I do like adventure and magic and romance wth really scary bad guys, and this book had that in plenty. I won't say what the ending was but it was right. I get the feeling that now I can appreciate John Wayne movies. The romance of the cowboy is alive and well in this series.

The Dark Tower. Read the whole series in 2 months..awesome read-been raised on the "King style" of writing and currently 58 years old. Thanks for your hard work Steve-you are an inspiration. Sincerely, Bill

Dark Tower. The series is tough to get through at times but if you make it through to the end of this book. WOW!! Is all you can say. This series is Stephen King.

The Ending. Okay I love this series and it truly is amazing but the last 200 or so pages of the book are horrible patrick shouldn't even be a character and what the tower really is, is so disappointing it just makes me think that I wasted a bunch of time with this series but I loved everything up until the last 200 pages.

Great series. Loved every book of the series. The journey was long and exciting, but must come to an end as all stories should. This was the crown jewel.

Wonderful!!!. Glad to finally finish this series!

Closure. I absolutely loved how it all ended, and it made the journey, and the mystery intertwined, all worthwhile. Very cool series. My first, but not final, journey, say thank ya.

Gunslinger. I fell in love with this series! Just perfect. Melissa

As always bittersweet.. For me, I picked up The Gunslinger when I was 17 years old. That was 1995. At a point in my life that I was starting a "journey" of my own. Roland had somewhat turned to be a role model for me. When his story finally "concluded" many years later, mine also "concluded". That time of my life when I picked up this series to when I finally able to finish it was a journey in its own. Reading this series again took me back to that time. And just like the last time, I didn't want to read the last 1/4 of the book. And only because King has done a great job of making these characters "friends". From beginning to end, his story lasted 9 years for me. Much longer for those that picked it up on first release, and unfortunately short for those that started when wizard and glass was published. Thank you Mr. King for the experience.

Best. This was the best book series i have read. I was hooked since the first book The Gunslinger. I felt like i was part of roland and his ka-tet the whole story, like i was on this journey with to End-World.

The perfect ending to a marvelous tale.. I've been a Stephen King fan from the get go. I've read the majority of his books but for whatever reason avoided the Dark Tower series. I have no good answer as to why. Several weeks ago I picked up the first book in the series and devoured the rest of the books in short order. The Dark Tower is a marvelous story and every story has an end. I approached this last book with some apprehension as I couldn't imagine it ending well no matter how you sliced it. Yet it ends perfectly with some surprise and no disappointment,

Great until the final part. The wrong one of the ka-tet lived. That just sucked.

Ending. A superb and extremely bittersweet conclusion to a series. Every Stephen King fan has to read the Dark Tower books in their entirety. "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower came" indeed. 🤓

Farkin-A!!!!!. After putting this series down to finish college, start a family. Almost 2@ years have gone by. Ka is a screwed up wheel but the ending of this book/series is the coolest cop out I've ever read. Now I can sleep at night. However I don't know if I have the guts to read another character anthology. It was too stressful. You've roont me for all other all other authors. Farkin-A Mr King...

The Dark Tower Is Not So Dark. The final book in the greatest series I've ever read. Some say this is SK's magnum opus. I agree. It is infused with his love, great wisdom and understanding. And what a story!

Dark tower. Amazing series. Enough said.

Took me a bit to love the series…but I got to thinking.... Spoilers, and an untrained analysis. Trying to use Occam’s razor (in its true sense, not the pop-culture, dumbed-down version)…Since we know for a fact Mr. King has included himself (fictionalized or no) in the story, and assigns himself the bearer of the beam of ‘Gan’...I believe Stephen King's beams are representations of King's sense(s) of self (be they his stories, idea sources, love of life, or what have you): All with King’s objectifying of his own creativity and by being represented by the Tower itself. Whether they be six, 19, or 1999 in real number - the breaking of these beams symbolize his own ‘breaking’ of existing lines of stories and degradation of (insert personally held value here); all with his own creativity being represented by the Tower. We can readily see from what is actually put to paper, if the beam of ‘Gan’ (King, the creator) breaks (dies) the tower (his creativity) will not only fall, it will cease to ever be again. And, as this last ‘beam’ and the ’Tower' are the final ‘balance': If ether one of these two last pieces goes, it all goes from the perspective of further productions of works. Furthermore, time slows down on these other worlds as Stephen King’s mind-works(?) slow down. Not that he’s any slower mentally, or has any fewer faculties (I have no idea). But, if the beams bend (his various story ‘sources’ or lines of creativity are reduced in some way) the time between ‘events’ in them are greater or cease to move forward altogether Hence, things are perhaps winding down and time is slipping to a slower pace when compared to the ‘real world’ in those story lines still active, and things having 'moved on’ with regard to those mental warehouses King draws his stories from having ‘emptied’ or the stories themselves having been fully told. No one can say if these objective warehouses will ever be refilled or new ones created to house new ideas in real life or if he even wants them to, but for now - almost all have ‘moved on’. Climbing the tower? Roland overcomes his main adversary, the Crimson King (alcoholism?, some other self admitted failing?) but we know not what lies at the top of the tower. Much like Roland, we get to be ‘reset’ by whatever the 'top floor' creates next. His resetting of Roland’s path at the end of the Dark Tower’s final book seems to indicate anything is possible with regard to King’s future creations from this point forward, but none of what ‘was’ as it would be considered before this quest was put to paper will ever be again. Anyway…is there a renewal? Of a sort, I think. Roland's character gets reset - but that’s really as much as we know following the story. We go no further back into his history, we know not what novalties this new trip down a seemingly well worn path may produce, we know not even if it continues much past the point of it being reset. We only know that there are beams, and breakers, a Tower, and at least a hint of possibilities ahead. Perhaps we, the ‘constant reader’ are Roland, perhaps not. In any case, what more could we ask? Perhaps only, does he still dream?

Back to Wizards... Trying to get through this one for years. How could Wizards bring me to tears and now I have to labor through this one? Don't care for robots or aliens or for this weird putting himself into the book. Characters are key and ours lost there souls back a few books. Sorry Stephen. Either start drinking again or get a publisher that will not just print anything you write. I'll just go back and read the OLD stuff.

I tried so hard. I really tried, loved the first few books in this series, but I just cannot finish this one. Not sure what happened... On to a new series.

Can't believe it's done.. Just finished re-reading the Dark Tower series from start to finish. I've been involved with Roland for such a long time & have come to love him. I will miss him & his ka-tet.

The tower found. Phenomenal! it made my entire life as a constant reader of Kings works all the more worth it. Long days and pleasant nights.

The Dark Tower Journey. I have read, almost, every book written by Stephen King. The reason I have, is because he has the amazing ability to write in a way, that allows me to live the story he tells, as I read it. His descriptions are so bold, I can SEE what I am reading. I can vividly see where it is he is taking me. I appreciate his storytelling and always look forward to another. Thank you so much Mr. King for allowing me to be lost in mid world and all the other worlds you have written of. It is always a fulfilling journey! S.H..

Js. Best series of novels I have read. them all twice
