Bad. The plot seemed rushed, under developed, and it felt as though the author plucked about 7 chapters out of the middle and only barely connected what was left and leaving huge ridiculous gaps. The main character met a man and fell deeply in love with him within, literally, 2 chapters. I wasted my time.

Excellent. The best vampire book I’ve read in ages

Took a Bite...Wasn’t That Tasty. I admit to having something of a love/hate relationship with romance stories. While these can sometimes be pretty fun and interesting, other times I find myself struggling to enjoy them. And while I can easily say I like this more than the Twilight Saga, Turned is another supernatural romance I can say I couldn’t fully enjoy. It has its good moments, but I find that I just can’t quite sink my teeth into it. Synopsis: Caitlin Paine (good lord, these names) is a seemingly-ordinary high school girl who has just moved into the city with her younger brother and abusive mother. As she is working to adjust to living there, she suddenly finds herself displaying strength and speed completely alien to any normal humans, and with a strange desire to drink blood. Things take a turn for the worse when she drains a famous opera singer of all his blood, suddenly setting the rest of the cities vampires on her as they hope to kill her before she causes more problems for them. Will she be able to escape, or is she looking towards an early grave? Pros: To start things off, I do enjoy that Caitlin is a fairly strong young girl and is capable of standing up for herself...at least, most of the time. Due to being new to her abilities, she is not as strong or fast as other vampires and finds she has trouble handling them at times. I also like some of the other characters, such as her brother and Jonah, a violin-playing boy she meets who is kind and supportive towards her when she first arrives. I would be interested in seeing more... Cons: ...if I didn’t feel like this book was often too by the numbers and over dramatic for my liking. The character of Caleb feels like every typical “bad boy” love interest you’d see in these sorts of books. He starts off the book interested in Caitlin due to her relation to some sort of old vampire lore, basic “chosen one” stuff. His interactions with Caitlin are, unfortunately, far less interesting and fun than her with Jonah, and after the vampire stuff really gets running, he really falls to the wayside. Maybe more happens with him as the books go on, but I don’t know. Furthermore, the city vampires’ attempts at going after Caitlin feel half-baked and mostly done to insert drama and tension artificially. In some ways, they just end up feeling like ways to insert rescue-scenarios for her. While they claim that they want to get rid of her to avoid having humans learn about vampires, at times their efforts to capture or kill her feel too attention grabbing to really convey this. However, the thing that really irked me the most was the advertisements for Morgan Rice’s work at the beginning AND end of the book. This problem, admittedly, is focused more on the adaptation to Apple Books, but I really can’t stand how long they are, to the point that it seems to artificially lengthen the book. This may be nit-picky, but it really does annoy me. Conclusion: Overall, it’s a fine story if you’re really into supernatural romance, but I just find it a little too by-the-numbers and amateur to fully enjoy. If you like this sort of stuff, I encourage you to take a bite. Otherwise, you should look for other necks-I mean books to sink your teeth into...I’ve gotta get better vampire analogies.

Good but needs work. The book itself and story is pretty good. The way it is written is like 3rd grader wrote it. Words jumbled, wrong spelling or even wrong names used.

The series. So first off, the grammar is absolutely horrible! I can barely read it without getting frustrated. The author will be talking about someone in a sentence and have the wrong name of the person they are talking about. It would be a great read if there weren't so many grammatical errors.

Um. I sampled the book and even then, it’s still really cheesy and cliché.

Amazing. This book was amazing! I loved it so much and was hooked by the second page. Definitely a must read!

Not what I was expecting...very juvenile. If you decide to proceed to read this book Beware the plot is kind of confusing and kind of juvenile it’s not my cup of tea but maybe it’s for somebody.

I didn’t like it. I read a lot of Vampire books and I thought it wasn’t very good. The characters were rushed through the story and it ended abruptly. Wouldn’t recommend it. :(

Vampire fanatic. This was definitely not in the league of Twilight or TVD as the review said. It was decent to read but seemed like an incomplete ending which I had anticipated towards the end. Repeated Character names often. Also there were many typos as if it was never edited.

Turned. It’s a good concept and all, love most of it but I just can’t get over the Hallmark Christmas love bonding between Caleb and Caitlin and Jonah. Caitlin and caleb knew each other for about 4 hours book time and she’s already saying why don’t you love me essentially instead of focusing on her imminent death or the apocalypse and obsessing over Jonah seconds after they meet. It just doesn’t make any sense even if she has issues stemming from not knowing her dad and being 18. It kinda takes away from the whole theme of the book to the point I can’t finish it from the cliché-ness of it

This book and series is amazing!. By far this is the best book series and Book I've read! I don't really like reading but I'm so hooked on these books it's crazy! I love how it Reels you in and it's like you can't let go!

Too short. I feel like this book just skimmed the surface and never got deep into the story. It’s a turn off that there are 12 short stories to buy. I would rather read 3 or 4 longer novels. I definitely don’t consider this on par with Twilight or The Vampire Diaries. I probably won’t bother with the rest of the series. It just didn’t have enough detail to draw me in.

Loving thissss. She ate this book upppp it kinda reminds me of a book called the burning shadow and it’s just a chefs kiss!!

You need a better proof reader.. Too many simple spelling errors. I am the spelling errors Qween! Never been able to spell really good.

I was expecting more. The storyline kept building but there was no real climax/high point. A book should have a high point, not just end after everything has just begun

Awesome!. This is my number one favorite series that I've ever read(and that's saying something for me)! I'm in love with Caleb and Caitlyn they are so perfect! Love the character development! The book kept me on my toes at times, leaping for joy, and swooning at Caleb! Very emotional series and very super good!! Ilysm Morgan rice!!!!!

Just not good. This should be the first half of a book. It just stops... There are literally no answers to any questions. Spends way to much time on "inner monologues" of one character and not nearly enough on the actual story. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone...

It was good but.... Turned was such a good book and because I am still in school I would read it for homework and relaxing with my ferrets and everyday I would be soo exited to come home from school take my ferrets out and start reading!! But then I finished the book... I was like I am going to start reading the next one but then I realized that it costed money.And I am not aloud to have money on my phone, and also the books started to get expensive like for ex. the last book is 7 dollars for 250 pages I would pay for the books if there were more pages! That is all! P.S I would recommend this book if after you are done reading and want to finish the series and are willing to pay over $20 for all the books!!

Okay. I thought the story was okay...they could have made it better by slowing down and not rushing the story so much it all seemed rushed not only the story but with the writing as well...I read a lot and like I said the story was okay but there was poor editing and it could have been way better if it wasn't rushed I'm going to keep reading the series to see what happens but it's definitely not one of my top 100 favorite books

It’s like a sample book. It’s like a sample book that takes too long to get anywhere. The elements of the story are interesting, but the plot development is not.

Juvenile book. Poorly written young adult book that repeats itself over and over.

Would read the Next one. Read the first book in a few hours. Some very small grammatical errors, not many. Felt as if romantic feelings were a little rushed but overall it was a decent quick read

Turned- Fantastic start! By Cincy Kid 68!. What a surprise start in a Vampire story. Very compelling and look forward to the next installment. Mr. Rice doesn’t disappoint that’s for sure. JB

Great story, but needs some better editing.. I thought the story was great! Some of the things in it was a little cringe but overall love the storyline. It has a good bit of errors though. That was a bit irritating.

Meh.. I personally enjoyed the story and the ideas behind it, but was seriously let down by the emotions of the main character. She fell in love in a matter of minutes. It felt cheap and melodramatic. I feel that the overall story needs more background and genuine emotion. In general, there should have been more research into every character. People are far more complex. Also, the law enforcement jumped to conclusions without solid evidence. It could have been so much better with the characters in mind.

PHENOMENAL. This book was something I couldn't put down. Some parts were a little too similar to TVD or Twilight, but overall, I could never put it down. Please, please, please make a movie or a TV series! I love it!

Truly wonderful!. I find it so hard to find books that keep me engaged. This book did just that. I fought to stay awake until 4 am to finish. Now I crave so much more. This is very well written. I promise you will not be disappointed.

What I think. This book was awesome is the first in a series and I read it with pasión now I think is a little to short there’s many other ones that I cant wait to finish but I think is done on purpose so we have more book to get .

Weak writing, only half a book. I understand that the first book of a series is given free so that the author can introduce their writing to the reader. It's a risk, your work is worth something, and you won't get paid until the reader buys the remaining titles in the series. I have happily found many authors this way. However, and you knew that was coming, this is the second series I've started with this author and haven't been impressed enough to go forward. It appears to me the author rates the quantity of writing over finding the weaknesses in the characterization, motivation, maturity, plot, believability and everything else. Yes, the grammar is fine, descriptions are fine, plot premise is fine, but that's it.

Turned. The book was amazing just remarkable for a person who doesn't read books this book really got me to reading the whole series. I can't wait to read the second book Loved and read about if they found the sword or not.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Smh. It’s easy to get caught up in the action; very fast paced but what started out as a book with great potential, went downhill in the middle (fast) Ridiculous errors makes me feel as if the author had one thing on her mind; paycheck. I couldn’t put it down but I refuse to pick the next one up as she obviously has no respect for her readers; banking on her name. She is talented but put no effort into this. HAZARD.4109

😒. Potential is there. It definitely needs a new editor. There were so many mistakes, at least every other page, that it was hard to stay focused when reading. The main character was all over the place with emotion that it just doesn't make sense. I've read 4 books in the series hoping there would have been some improvement, it only got worse. I'm disappointed because it could've been great.

Disappointed. I read the entire book with the hope that it would get better, but unfortunately it didn't. The timing was WAY off in this book. I have read a lot of cheesy love at first sight books and I can enjoy them if the story and plot is good. I couldn't get past it with this one. Wasn't worth the read. I can go into detail, but it's not necessary, just find something else to read :)

Turned. Wooowww!! I have no words to say about this book except for freakin’ awesome. I loved it so much. From the mysteries, to the romance, to the wars. It was really good. I was able to finish the book in one sitting. This book is an edge-cutting book I definitely rate this book 100,000,000.

Hmm. I realise this is a children's book but it is suited to a very young audience. Full of mistakes and very tedious. It's almost like the author wanted to write a full book of the main character asking questions in her head. Storyline was ok but lacked much depth. 2.5 hours I won't be getting back.

Yet another masterpiece. This is an amazing book and I am telling you it will take you away to a wonderful place! Rivals any vampire book and you won't e able to put it down!!!! You just can't get enough and when it's over you feel as if your best friend died!!! Keep them coming Morgan because what will we love when their gone!!!!

It was fine.. I don’t know it kind of felt like wannabe twilight, or vampire diaries. The romance between her and Caleb felt super forced and the declaration they loved each other happened wayyyyy too quickly.. also the plot was kind of predictable, however other than that it was a decently good book although the writing was slightly bizarre at times..

Good on ya. For getting this bit of trite cliches strung together into sentences published. The writing is simplistic and the story without merit. Nothing new about either vampires or humanity. The protagonist is fairly unlikeable and hard to care about. Where are dreams and ambitions? Can’t recommend.

The vampire journals. Well I rate it 4 stars. I read the series it was very ver enjoyable. But all the books I have read, obviously has not been checked by a proof reader because there were lots and lots of mistakes. but I would buy it, it was a great book.

Morgan Rice-Vampire Journals. I have now read 5 of these books and each one keeps getting better and better. Morgan Rice is a talented writer and I highly recommend you start reading these books. They are FANTASTIC!!!

Turned, book. I am writing to ask if anyone that writes then sells books has any proof readers? As I have read abut 4 books in the last few days and I keep finding things wrong. Sentences not making sense, either added words or the wrong words put in place. Not sure if I will get a response to this but I thought I would write a review.

Confused. I liked the plot and I'm keen to see where this story is going but it is in no way descriptive enough. For example, where was her fear when she was captured? How did she get her phone when she left it at home? What the hell are the wings these vampires have? Are they an extension of their arms or do they sprout from their backs, what?! I hope the next book is edited better.

Turned. This book is thrilling and it keeps you on the edge of your seat at all times. Undoubtedly, the reader of this book will look forward to the next book in this series. Turned is a book for teenagers 13+ and I strongly recommend it.

Story line ok in first three books but then just repeats itself.. I am now up to book 7, love the story line in the first three books but I now feel like I am ready the same book over & over again apart from change in destination I actually found my self skipping through the Kyle chapters. Will finish the series only because I like to finish what I start. Also a few mistakes through out these books (wrong names in wrong places). If you are looking for a quick easy read not to bad but I would never read again. :)

BS. This book was poorly written, the cliches were just flowing out of the pages, no character development what so ever and the grammatical errors were appaling. And caitlyn was the most cliched character ever written in history!

Can't get past the grammar.... The storyline was decent, and it had potential, but the number of grammatical errors, mis-used words and overuse of words was annoying. Better editing would make all the difference!

Interesting.... The story line and the name reminded me of something but I can't quite put my finger on it. But that's fine because not only was thy confusing but so was the whole editing part, i mean I hate editing my own work so I would prefer not to edit what I'm reading as I'm reading it. The parts where it would say he instead is she or reverse was annoying. But other than that I liked the book and am going to continue to read the series and hope the Arthur get some better editors, no offence to anyone I personally no how hard it is to write a book and how hard it is to edit a book :)

Amazing. Wow!! This is an amazing book!! I love it! I love how it ends cuz it makes you want to go get the next. I'm totally going to get it! Anyone who loves vampire and love stories should read this book. To me it's some type of mystery too! :)

The Vampire Journals?. The Vampire Journals? ...Not very original. Reminds me of another series i know...

PHW tells all.. A great series I must say! But towards the end a little predictable, but still good. I would recommend it as a Sunday read where there isn't anything on the tellie :)

Not really original. This isn't all that original. The title first of all "The Vampire Journals" sounds a lot like the book series/ hit TV show "The Vampire Diaries" ( if you are interested in watching a supernatural show, watch it). And secondly, the book has horribly written characters. You can tell that the main character is boring and bland. And she asks the most pathetic questions throughout the book. The themes are well enough though. It could be written for the better though.

Good Book, Terrible Editing. I purchased the whole vampire journal series looking forward to delving deeper into the mystical and wondrous world of vampires. The premise and writing of the series is actually quite good, but the editing is terrible! It is not only grammar, which is atrocious, they actually have names wrong so that the person is talking to themselves instead of the other character. In one spot the dog was supposed to be interacting with the character but the way it is written the character is interacting with themselves. Plus the author seems to love the word strut and strutting and strutted. I actually contacted the author via Twitter to let her know what was wrong. I was completely ignored. She seems to only use Twitter to advertise her books. She does give free copies away which is wonderful. Sadly, although the books are quite good, I will not purchase a Morgan Rice book again.
