Heartwarming.. My heart is full after reading this book. I adore Fannie Flagg.

Smiles.. This is such a fun book to read, especially during the Christmas season. I liked all the characters and know actual folks just Ike them. The last few books I have read had very little plot and no ending, just a buy Book 2. This heartwarming story had a beginning, a middle and an ending, a happy one at that. If you want to feel good, this book will appeal to both male and female readers who like to smile.

A Redbird Christmas. A wonderful feel-good book. A man in Chicago (Oswald) is given only a few weeks to live. He moves to southern Alabama. He meets all the people of the town of Lost River. The storekeeper finds a redbird (Cardinal) that had been shot in the wing and nurses it back to health. The bird lives in the general store and learns many tricks. Little 5 year old crippled Patsy comes to the store and falls in love with Jack the redbird. Many miracles occur. Patsy gets her crippled legs fixed. Oswald is cured. The shopkeeper and others find love and everybody lives happily ever after.

What I thought.. OK

A Treasure. Fannie Flagg is a treasure. The story is gift to anyone who acknowledges empathy and imagination. The characters are unforgettable. I dare you to read it and not laugh out loud. My holidays will always be more merry and bright because of this gift. Thank you Fannie!

Sweet book!. This book is perfect for the times when you want a sweet, light easy read. Perfect by the fire with a hot cup of yummy, the characters quickly become friends you want to know. From Oswald the newcomer to the quaint coastal Alabama town to little waif Patsy whose life becomes meaningful after she meets her best friend,Jack, the folks rally around each other. While the plot is a bit predictable and the end ties up things a bit too nicely, I still enjoyed it! Looking forward to more Fannie Flagg!
