An American Hero. I used this book in one of my graduate level courses. The was a very good read. I was impressed with his journey and how he became a major leader in our country as well as one of he most respected military leaders of our time, yet still remained humble throughout the journey.

Fabulous book from an outstanding man!. A wonderful friend (thank you Joanne) recommended this book to me and once I started reading it I could not put it down. Every free moment I had I would be reading it. It's very inspirational, motivational and just plain a great read!

Decent read. I love General Powell and what he did for this country however the book itself became long winded and boring towards the end. I rather enjoyed learning about his beginnings but the depth of policy decisions and depictions of events seemed to leave much to question. For a fan of American history it's a must, on the other hand a causal reader beware.

Absolute Must Read. Excellent account of the life and career of one of the most influential military figures in the late 20th century. Highly recommend.
