If You Were Here. Love Jen Lancaster, but I prefer her books where she is the main character. I found myself skimming in this book. Not quite as funny as the others I have read.

If You Were Here. Lancaster's first foray into novels left me wanting more. It wasn't so much fiction... I felt she was again writing a story about herself, but this time with a few small plot points that would not be believable in anything but fiction writing. That being said- the section in which she interviews potential contractors was uproariously hilarious. Well-written overall and I understand book sales prove her audience wants to read about her life, but I think if she is going to write about herself anyway she should just stick to autobiographical accounts- we would be none-the-wiser if she slipped in a few exaggerations after all! If you are already a fan- buy this book. If you are not- buy this book then read the other 5! I support everything Jen does!!

Great book. This was a wonderful book. Being a child of the 80's and an hgtv addict, there were so many different levels that I could relate to the characters. I also enjoyed that the general writing style of Ms. Lancaster was consistent with her other books.

Just finished "if you were here". I have loved your writing since I was first introduced to it. Your style, your sense of humor, you could be my bestie if I actually knew you. This book was so different yet so you. I truly enjoyed it and I hope you're writing the end to your new novel right now. Thank you for your great sense of humor and for the great escape!
