A land more kind than home. I usually read at night in bed, once in a while I end up reading all night when very good story. But , not the case with is story. Not only did I read until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer, but I had to keep reading it during the day also. That's how compelling this story is, you just have to know what happens next all the way thru the whole story!! It's that good! Thank you Mr. Cash for your superb writing and the way you present your story. I'm looking forward to a lot more of your books now that I've found you! Boring. Though it had potential in topic, the author reveals all interesting and relevant facts in the first 50 pages. The next 150 pages are full of completely irrelevant, long-winded stories. Incredibly tedious to read.

Just enough detail. This page turner gives just enough detail to get you hooked without getting bogged down. I generally don't like books that tell the same story from multiple perspectives, but this one does it right. You get to learn the whole story from different people without it being too repetitive. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it was a bit predictable.

A wonderful first or tenth novel. I have read only half of this book and already believe that the author is truly gifted. It was difficult to take just a few moments from Jess to write this review. Whether you do or do not have any interest in the topic of this book, I believe you will be entranced by the writing. And now I will return to nine-year-old Jess to see if there is any resolution to his tragedy.

Wonderful story. I finished the book over two nights because I wanted to know what happened to poor little Jess. Was pulling for Ben the whole time and hoping for a better outcome. See? The characters were real for me right away. I am impressed by the writing of Wiley Cash and pleased to have had the book recommended to me.

Soulful. Decided to read this book after reading an interview with the author Wiley Cash, in Vanity Fair. I was intrigued. A great read with a lot of soul. You can't help but want to see what happens to the character Jess.

Amazing!. This is a well-written beautiful story. Very talented writer. I'm looking forward to his next one. I read ALMKTH in two days and was so sad when it ended.
