A Dream of Death (Detective Lincoln Munroe, Book 1) by Harrison Drake Book Summary

Ontario Provincial Police Detective Lincoln Munroe is coming up empty. As a serial killer terrorizes the area surrounding London, Ontario, Canada, Lincoln finds himself at a standstill waiting for the perfect killer to make his first mistake. While the body count rises without any leads, Lincoln finds himself haunted by dreams of discovering skeletal remains in the forest beneath a bloody knife. The dreams seem to come true when Lincoln is called to Algonquin Park to assist an old colleague. There he is tasked with overseeing the excavation of human remains buried more than twenty-five years earlier; remains that will bring to the surface cold cases, a painful past and memories Lincoln had long since forgotten. 'A Dream of Death' is the first in a series of character-driven police procedurals written by a Canadian police officer. A Dream of Death. A well written and hard to put down novel. Many good twists and turns to keep your interest. Obvious that the author knew the subject matter very well, however, did not bury you in detail. I look forward to reading more of his books. JRL

Dream. This is a great book to read has plenty of action and shows what many people go through

A dream of death. Excellent book! I loved the story and characters. The pages spent between father and son...heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. I shed a few tears I must confess! I'd be happy to read further books written by this talented author!

Awesome. The book was captivating. A hard to put down book. I really enjoyed this book because it has a lot to do with what I do everyday.

Great book. This is my first experience with this author but it won't be my last. I love the way he writes. I lost plenty of sleep finishing this book. I look forward to reading the next book.

Believable. Written by a cop about a serial killer, with easy to follow sub stories intertwined . Read it in one snowy day. That good !!

A dream of death. Really enjoyed this book, hard to put down.

A Dream of Death. This is a great easy read!

Wow. What an amazing story, I loved it. I couldn't stop reading

Good title and good read. I personally enjoyed reading this book. I typically donโ€™t read but when I do itโ€™s about mysteries or non fiction books,I would read to chapter 2-3 to tell if the book is worth my while and this one was. There was a few times I had no idea what was coming and some moments where I figured certain things were going to happen but Over all if you like mysteries this one is a great one. Look forwarded to reading the next one.

Great plot;good story. A little long on the internal angst and self doubt issues but the story is more than worth the time to skip the ennui. A lot of suspense, and a lot of paranormal forces a police officer to confront terrible memories and fears at a great cost to himself and his family.

A Dream of Death. Good mystery and easy read. Interestingly the author is a real cop.

A dream of Death. I found the book to have a very interesting twist.

Fantastic book!!. I really loved this book. I don't usually give such high praise as I am quit particular, however, the book was written so well and had such a great storyline it is well deserved. Can't wait to read this author's next book.

Dream of death. Awesome book great read will read next one

Good book. Really enjoyed the characters and plot

A Dream of Death. Good book lots of typing errors but still able to read around them without any problem.

A Dream of Death ( Detective Lincoln Munroe, Book 1). It was free, so I tried to be fair, but when it's this bad, one must tell the truth. There were basic errors in the text that reveal this was not well read even by an editor. The sexual relationship with his partner was poorly written, oddly justified, and laughable to me, as a woman. The protagonist was hard to like, and even difficult to see as competent. Even the relationships that were structured as "friendships", such as Chen-Chen, were shallow and weakly defined. Do yourself a favor and skip this one as even the serial killer " bad guy" was under developed in terms of his motivation and believability. This proves the old adage that, " ...you get what you pay for...".

Snap out of it!. Lincoln cries too much! Jeesch! Dude, get a grip. The story and characters are well written and developed. Good style of dialogue. But the crybaby side of Lincoln just doesn't fit his character. Nothing suggests he's such a wuss. But, the crying does suggest he's got some issues he needs to deal with.

Astounding first novel. Loved the way this author weaves a story - makes you believe you are reading true crime. Surprised at the amount of emotion the main character is allowed to show (being a detective). Looking forward to the next one.

Probably the fastest I've ever read a book. This book got me back into reading and for me, that's huge. I've never been big on reading words and using my imagination for the rest but I gave this book a try and wow. The author has such a way with words that will make your imagination so much more colorful, it WILL TURN YOU INTO A READER. I love it so much the tv in my house has been off for a couple days just so I wouldn't be disturbed when reading. That's a first. Thanks to the author. Onto the next one!

Average read. I appreciate the fact it's a local setting. However, I found the romance affair to be typical. I enjoyed the suspense with the Algonquin death. I also hope it inspires others to visit their elderly parents. Nice read overall.

The crying s got to stop. Really good story and great that it s set in Canada, but Lincoln cries too much. If he cried once per book that would be plenty - a sensitive man without it being excessive.

To many tears. Lincoln cries way too often in this book. I can't think of a single man or even a woman who cries as often as this character.
