A March of Kings (Book #2 in the Sorcerer's Ring) by Morgan Rice Book Summary

“THE SORCERER’S RING has all the ingredients for an instant success: plots, counterplots, mystery, valiant knights, and blossoming relationships replete with broken hearts, deception and betrayal. It will keep you entertained for hours, and will satisfy all ages. Recommended for the permanent library of all fantasy readers.”
--Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos

A MARCH OF KINGS (Book #2 in the Sorcerer's Ring) takes us one step further on Thor’s epic journey into manhood, as he begins to realize more about who he is, what his powers are, and as he embarks to become a warrior.

After he escapes from the dungeon, Thor is horrified to learn of another assassination attempt on King MacGil. When MacGil dies, the kingdom is set into turmoil. As everyone vies for the throne, King’s Court is more rife than ever with its family dramas, power struggles, ambitions, jealousy, violence and betrayal. An heir must be chosen from among the children, and the ancient Dynasty Sword, the source of all their power, will have a chance to be wielded by someone new. But all this might be upended: the murder weapon is recovered, and the noose tightens on finding the assassin. Simultaneously, the MacGils face a new threat by the McClouds, who are set to attack again from within the Ring.

Thor fights to win back Gwendolyn’s love, but there may not be time: he is told to pack up, to prepare with his brothers in arms for The Hundred, a hundred grueling days of hell that all Legion members must survive. The Legion will have to cross the Canyon, beyond the protection of the Ring, into the Wilds, and set sail across the Tartuvian Sea for the Isle of Mist, said to be patrolled by a dragon, for their initiation into manhood.

Will they make it back? Will the Ring survive in their absence? And will Thor finally learn the secret of his destiny?

With its sophisticated world-building and characterization, A MARCH OF KINGS is an epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders. It is 60,000 words. Books #3--#17 in the series are also available!

“A spirited fantasy that weaves elements of mystery and intrigue into its story line….For those seeking meaty fantasy adventures, the protagonists, devices, and action provide a vigorous set of encounters that focus well on Thor's evolution from a dreamy child to a young adult facing impossible odds for survival….Only the beginning of what promises to be an epic young adult series.”

Enchanting story. It's a nice fast paced read. It's easy to follow, the characters are well developed, and is a true adventure story. Not as good as book one, but its a great second book for the series.

Good read. Overall a good light read. Somewhat stiff and over sentimental at times. Two typos found- that shouldn't be the case in a published manuscript. Ended with a cliffhanger, which should also be avoided. I liked it enough to keep reading however and will likely read the complete series.

Love it Morgan Rice. Great plot!!!

Awesome book. This book is one of the best series I ever read. It has detail and full of unexpected twists and it always makes the reader want to read more. Morgan Rice is an awesome author and is very creative.

Another notch. Another notch in the beginnings a a great wheel.

Enjoy!. I really enjoy this series! It has a lot of plot twists and cliff hangers. Making you sit on the edge of your seat! Love it!!

There's promise, but.... I love a good fantasy tale, and this series has the beginnings of a good one, but they are rushed and HORRIBLY edited. If wretched grammar and spelling can ruin a book for you, don't read these books. Plus, the author repeats themes and phrases to death. If I read, "She/he could feel the power of her/his father rising up in her/him," one more time, I'm going to lose my mind. Someone should have spent a little more time and money on a GOOD editor, if one was sought at all. Missing words, bad grammar, bad punctuation, incorrect use of words...they all detract so horribly from the story that it makes this whole series a cringe-worthy read and overshadow the truly great and original ideas that this author has.

A March of Kings. I am enjoying this tale very much! Even though one thinks the rest of the story will unfold in a manner similar to what has passed before, it draws the reader in along with its twists and turns! That’s enough for now! I need to keep on reading!

Meh. Ok plot, but a lot of errors. The writing is pretty mediocre and the word “hardly” was used dozens of times for some reason. The poor writing etc is really distracting.

Too many screwups. Is it bromson or Devon? The mccloud son's name changes repeatedly through the story, and the destiny sword has now become the dynasty sword. A captivating read, though nowhere near the level of the first. It was much, much too short. I would have felt alright about it and probably have given it a better rating if it were free, but asking money for a game with so many errors is not alright at all. It should be free in all honesty. It's a good story and I actually really like it, but after paying three bucks for it I feel totally cheated. Not worth the money it asks for at all.

Morgan Rice Rocks. I have read hundreds of fantasy based books and Morgan does an outstanding job. You'll fall in love with her characters. You'll feel some of their pain and joy. I found myself unable to stop reading. Fast paced well written. The only down side is that I have ordered and read all of her books on iBooks and at times it is obvious that someone didn't proof read. I don't blame the writer. If you love fantasy and great Hero's and epic battles then Rice is for you.

Great story but..... The story is great and I can’t wait to keep reading, but there are a few typos in this book that I feel like can easily be corrected. I hope they do get corrected because they really ruin the flow of a reading. For instance, there’s a part where Thor is looking west to the McClouds; however, don’t they live on the eastern part of the Ring? And when Godfrey is in the Kings Chamber there is a misprint and it states thy Gareth is in the room. Just small things.

Short book ever for $2.99. The first book seemed pretty good for killing the time so I had to purchase the second book to read more the same day and guess what? It took me like two hours to finish it already, what the heck? Only for $2.99 and I was greatly disappointed. I felt like the author took advantage of us by lured us into want more by kept the book short and helped her made more money. The second book was not bad, it’s perfect for killing the time but I don’t think I will buy other book of hers for a long time.

Awesome but.... It's awesome but in the book it says Mcloud son is name is Devon but later his name is Bronson same with the destiny sword it says it's the dynasty sword

Good Book. I liked the book. Sure the editing is not the best, but you can dismiss the minor errors that show up every now and again. I think the story is pretty interesting, and I hope that the rest of the books are just as good if not better.

Can't i do negative stars?. Once again absolutely no sense of pacing in the entire book. There is just something about the way the book is written, aside from badly, that stops me from being remotely involved. It's like someone is reading a longer version and telling me the cliff notes version. Usually if I don't like a book that's it, I just walk away but I seriously can't believe people give this good reviews. It's horrible. Do not waste your money.

No. Just no

Great series. Am enjoying the series. The characters are interesting and keep you coming back to to see what happens next.

Worth the $3.00. All in all a pretty good book. Unfortunately the story is better than the writing. Character development is very brief, which I didn't like at first, but I found it bothered me less and less as the book went on. In several places the author misspells her own character names, and in other places uses the wrong name entirely. Maybe she just chose a poor editor. For $3.00 it's a good value though. It gets three stars for the lower price. If I would have paid $10.00 it would be a two star rating.

Awesome !. Every bit as good as the first book of this series. Can't wait to start the one !

Great novel!. The writing style of this author is great! I am instantly sucked in. Some easily fixed grammatical errors tho.

A march of kings. This is a simplistic read. A fair story but too predictable. Not hard to guess what is going to happen next. Poor boy gets rich girl. Boy becomes hero. Has special powers. Story has things that remind me of Game of Thrones. Sorry but this read should be rated for under 14. Purple rabbits with three heads, loves the color purple. Purple food, purple ten headed snakes. Can't wait until he can raise the sword. Like King Arthur. Agree with others about editing, poor.

Awesome. Love these books! Morgan Rice your writing style is easy to digest and leaves the reader hungry for more!! Can't wait to read the adventures in book 3!!! Will he make the 100 days and return to his love? Are his powers going to grow? Who is his mom?! So exciting

Too many errors. A good story in the works, but it needs some serious editing! So far, all three books have been loaded with typographical, semantic and grammatical errors. Honestly, just about any literate assistant could read through the text and catch things like "peaked" vs "peeked." There were errors in just about every chapter. It got quite distracting after about the first five! Plot development is also weak. It is a bit like reading a video game. Boy is introduced, boy seeks adventure, boy runs through the books collecting things that might be useful in the future, occasionally boy interacts with the things he has collected, etc... Even though it needs work, it is still a fun read, if you can look beyond the literary issues.

A March of Kings. Very shallow and sloppily written.

Disappointed. It's a fab story but this guy brakes the rules. Story's got to have a beginning a middle and an ending, this has a beginning half a middle and no ending. With 13 books all together and the first two incomplete I dnt have high hope that il find an ending after book 13.

Great!. It is a great book, only it was a bit short....

March of Kings. This is a good follow up to the first book in this series. A good bit shorter than the first one and leaves a lot more open story lines which no doubt will be followed up in #3 in this series.

Scorchers ring bundle. Great story line but should have been 3 or 4 books not 12. Works out more expensive than a Stephen King novel

A march of kings. Again excellent read the characters are really coming to life. Would recommend to anyone, cant wait to start book 3 :).

Good story line. Great ideas and plots but the language used does not evoke tension make the story real.

Number #2 March of the Kings. A good story. Up and down but overall worth reading.

Amazinf. No words, just amazing

Interesting YA Series. Major gripe- two pages are MIE (missing in editing, methinks) and it really got my goat. Why? Because this is hearty YA fare and deserves stellar attention to the synonym typos (although I did think them cute) and the two pages that are missing a) maybe more than the suspected two pages are missing and b) both areas were leading to Something and I don’t Know What It Was. My moniker serves me well, here. :) I’m on book 3 and the plot is thickening. Enjoy!

Amazing. This book had me on edge from the start. Only thing I hated was the end and finding out I needed to download the next book. But it’s a good thing! Keeps me wanting more!

Writing style. This book has a fantastic story with great possibilities but the writing style is very saddening. It takes away from the story with the constant changing of his or her greatest events. Like seriously? Drastic measures leading from one thing to another with few good things following. Kind of feels like the book was written from beginning to end with no planning. Just whatever came to mind went on paper. Also, I doubt it was reviewed and proof read either.

Are you wondering???. Exciting and a joy to read.

Badly written, bad plot, not original. I'll keep it short. There are so many grammatical, syntax and editing errors in this book that it shouldn't be allowed on the store. And on top of that the story sucks, makes no sense and looks like it was written in only one session. Why this book has a 4 star rating beats me. And why does iBooks show only 5 ratings when there are surely tons of 1 start ratings out there? That sounds suspicious and really dishonest. Do not download this worthless piece of crap. You have been warned.
