Hillerman Fans Rejoice. Fans of Tony Hillerman's books will find much to love and nothing to disappoint in this well-crafted novel. Although a new reader will miss many references to prior stories, the novel and the mystery it contains can be savored and solved on its own merits. Read it! Then go visit -or revisit- the stark beautiful landscapes and novels that inspired this one. Thanks for keeping those worlds alive!

Spider Woman's Daughter. Read about it in a local paper. Instantly downloaded it during a rainy day and finished it after 2 pots of strong coffee and several pipes. Missed Tony's characters and stories and am glad to have them back in Anne Hillerman's book. Enjoyed it immensely.

Follows in fathers steps. The book follows Tony Hillerman way of tell a great store. At times you can tell it was written by a female. It was great and enjoyed the read.

Spider Woman’s Daughter: a Stunning Web. Anne Hillerman has truly inherited the gift of writing from her dad, and has done an incredible job of bring Leaphorn, Chee, and Bernie back to life in the pages of this book. A stunning page turner not to be missed.

Spider Woman's Daughter. As unlikely as it might seem, the daughter's work surpasses the father's in this continuation of the Hillerman SouthWest detective stories. This book stands strong and proud among its predecessors It was a joy to read with authentic dialogue -- external and internal -- and tight plotting. The characterization is slightly more nuanced than in the predecessor series, although there is somewhat more resolution by the last page (Dad really like to leave the reader hanging on unresolved interpersonal tenterhooks!).

In her father's footsteps.. As far as I'm concerned, Ms. Hillerman has hit a home run with this, her first fictional book. It is a worthy continuation of her father's Joe Leaphorn-Jim Chee mysteries. I hope she writes more of them!

Spider Woman's Daughter. Anne Hillerman has taken up her father's mantel in the best way. I enjoyed reading her first Leaphorn and Chee novel as much as I enjoyed all of her fathers work. Thank you Anne, and keep up the great work!!

Spider Woman's Daughter. Thank you, Anne Hillerman, for continuing to write about the Navajo Tribal Police. I loved the book. You father's books taught me so much about this beautiful area and these wonderful people. I came to the southwest from northeast OH with many misconceptions about reservation life and the people who live here. Learning of him through PBS Mystery series I came to appreciate the land, it's people, and their culture. Please continue to represent this area as he did. And most importantly, thanks for a good story.

ANOTHER GREAT STORY. The Spider Woman was wonderful with it’s mystery and intrigue and so many twists and turns. Thank you Anne Hillerman for continuing your father’s stories.

excellent book. I loved Tony Hillerman's books and was sad when I heard he passed away. However, his daughter, Anne, has picked up the thread of Tony's stories and continued without a hitch in her excellent book, Spider Woman's Daughter. I hope she continues to write more books about the Navajo policemen I grew to enjoy in Tony's books

Great First Book. Really liked this book. It certainly fits well into the Chee and Leaphorn series. I hope there will be more books in the future!

Like catching up with old friends. I was slow to discover that the Chee/Leaphorn Navajo detective series had been renewed. I’m hooked again! Anne Hillerman has been loyal to her father’s characters and developed Officer Bernie Manuelito as a lead character every bit as interesting as Chee and Lieutenant Leaphorn. Like Tony, Anne Hillerman educates us in the ways of the Dine’ and makes us feel like insiders. Her descriptions of the scenery, the highways, the trails, the ruins, the weather, the art all resonate for anyone who has spent time in the region, and captivates those who have not.

A Home Run!. This is a worthy successor to her father's Leaphorn and Chee novels.

Okay but..... I was intrigued by “A Leaphorn and Chee” novel. Loved Tony Hillerman’s writing, the way he painted the scenery, the broadness of his characters, and the intricacies of the plots. If it was a political move to give Manuelito the lions share of the book, I wasn’t impressed. Pretty much had it figured out in the first twenty five pages. It was adequate to quench my thirst for a Navajo Country mystery. Tony Hillerman was quite a wordsmith. I hope as the series goes on , the mysteries get better. I felt like Chee was dumbed down to make Bernie look good. He was always very methodical and took his time to come to a conclusion. In this book he is pretty mellow. Not nearly as spiritual or focused. I read the next one to see if the characters get better.

Like Good Friend. Like a good friend, after years have passed, pick up right where you left off. Missed my book friend so I was hopeful when I purchased Anne Hillerman's book. Happy to report, she has a new fan.

Spider Woman’s Daughter. Anne Hillerman. Chee and Bernie are trying to solve the attempted murder of their mentor LT. Joe Leaphorn. Initially there are quite a few potential suspects, but they have narrowed it down to one suspect who confesses to them after she captures and tries to kill them. Another excellent read in this series!!! My highest recommendation!!
