Fast, funny and completely irreverent. A fantastic read. I have been looking for a series like this for a while. I am hooked. And happily looking forward to the next installment.

An adventure on the edge between earth and the fair lands. Within the first chapter I felt like I 'knew' Maggie and that she had been at her job and was comfortable with it. The author writes in a way that made me feel like I already knew enough about the two main characters and the setting so that any new information was just a casual reference to common facts. There was a few things that were brought up as 'fun facts' from an expert tracker to the general populace but it was generally an easy read. The main character, Maggie, is given a well described family background that perhaps needs another book before the relationships feel resolute, but the plot (adventure) is non-stop and doesn't get side-tracked by gratuitous sex, romance, or unrelated side-plots. That doesn't mean that there isn't some related joking by the characters :-D. I particularly appreciated that no main character made stupid mistakes or whined with never-ending angst over previous actions that later became mechanisms to forward the action and that while there is room to create a series afterwards, this story completely finished at the end of the book.

Maggie for Hire. A funny, action packed, gotta read at one go type of story!

Fantastically unexpected.. I wasn’t sure what to make of what would turn out to be an addicting story. At first I thought the writing was a bit aimed towards the pre-teen to late-teen crowd and that I wouldn’t enjoy it, but as I continued to read, I was enveloped by the witty remarks, innuendos, and a story that kept me curious up until the end. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, if not all of it!

fresh attitude. I really like the grittiness of the main character, Maggie. Loved reading a book with lots of action and character tension. But without all the standardized sex to keep readers interested. The story and character developments keep me reading not the sexual titillations.

Leaves me wanting more!. I've just finished book 3 of what I'm calling The Maggie series! Maggie For Hire, Maggie Get Your Gun, and Maggie On The Bounty. Next read is MK Tracking. The series is authored by the talented Kate Danley. The only criticism I have for this series is that her mother should have been more liberal with the soap! GREAT reads thus far.
