Storm Front. Not one of Sanford's best.

Storm Front. Virgil Flowers is in excellent form in this fast paced mysterious tale involving a stolen artifact smuggled out of an Israeli dig by a Christian minister dying of cancer. In pursuit are a couple of anti-Hezbollah Lebanese, a dedicated Mossad agent, a cocky TV adventurer, a busty blonde in the business of selling fake barn wood to Upper East side residents, and, of course, Virgil Flowers. There are plenty of belly laughs along the way, as well as danger, drama and even tracers ! One of Sanford's most entertaining books, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Naturally, the story takes place in Minnesota!

Storm Front. Virgil Flowers is a breath of fresh air, a naive persona without naïveté. Not an alcoholic, not depressed, always intelligent, moral, and funny. Sanford's books, like most modern mysteries, usually have a few terribly violent characters. This is different. The bumbling, potentially violent, thoroughly human people here run out the tale superbly.

Storm Front. I wait for these to come out. I doubt that Sanford wrote this, it has none of the richness of our favorite characters. It was just a story with folks we know, void of what we like them for. How sad.

Dull, but Confusing. I love the Virgil Flowers books but this one was a big letdown. A stone, characters that just seem to randomly pop up for the sole purpose of confusing things. The Flowers wit is largely absent as he remains baffled through the entire caper.

Storm Front. The best Sandford read since Davenport's run in with that crazy genius pathologist in his early works. His wit while writing about that f&@k$?g Flowers matches Nelson DeMille--not faint praise in my book. May each man be lucky enough to find a version of Virgil's "Ma Nobles"

Unfortunate. This read like the author went to Jerusalem and was simply looking to write a story, any story, to justify writing off that trip on his taxes. Usually Sanford’s books have an element of casual reality to them. Not this one. It was ... off. (SPOILER ALERT coming up) And maybe because it was so off, I didn’t have the energy to go back and figure out where the money went. Did it go to the Arab pilot and his Hezbollah friend or to the friend’s daughter to care for his Alzheimers wife and the autistic child? The Fox News snark at the end went a long way in explaining why Sanford felt so compelled to paint the Arab pilot with a heart of gold and the Paris-loving misunderstood Hezbollah “terrorist” as such good guys and the Mossad agent as some hapless fool looking to shoot someone. Which was unfortunate since I’d appreciated Sanford’s take on politics before. Which was generally fair and down the middle. Anyhoo... before I plop down more money for another Sanford book, I’ll read the reviews first. If folks are complaining about his sudden insertion of GOP hate, I’ll read something else. I’m not interested in padding some leftist’s pocket who’s more interested in getting in his licks rather than writing an interesting book that makes sense.

Storm Front. Absolutely the worst John Sandford book I have ever read and I have read all of his books.

A little more research. Wish the author realized the city in Israel referred to was Bet Shean and not Beth Shean as listed twice in his book. Otherwise couldn't put this book down...a real page turner.

Stolen Prey. A bit convoluted. Not his best. No real excitement.

Virgil at his best!!. Another great read by a great story teller--lots of action and great dialogue from Virgil and his friends!!Cannot wait for next f'ing Flowers novel!Keep them coming Mr. Sandford.

Storm Front. Another 5 stars. Totally different story for that f...... flowers.

Storm Front. Typical Sandford novel. Good pace. Good story line. Central character acts as expected. Normal plot twist near the end. Virgil gets his girl - you just never know which one. I'll buy the next book too! Decent book

Another Virgil Flowers gem!!!. When I read the lead in to the book, I was all 'Jerusalem, hieroglyphics & Minnesota'. Not interested at all! However, because of my absolute adoration for all John Sanders novels & the fact he has NEVER left me disappointed, I bought it & dove it. What a ride! It was another masterpiece that only John Sanders can create. Don't be foolish & think this might just be a 'skip' & move on to the next in the series. You'll be sorry if you do!!!

Sad. Sad to see John Sanford sell his rep down the river by using "partner" authors like James Patterson constantly does. This is an incredibly stupid, juvenile effort that I doubt Sanford has even read.

Storm Front. Entertaining. Don't be misled by the cover. Lighthearted, but complex enough to be a interesting read. Enjoyed it.

Storm Front. Save your money, unless you want to read about artifacts.... No action, half way through, and I wish I could get my $$$ back. I won't buy anymore Sanford books unless about Davenport, and then I will wait for reviews...

Storm front. Much ado about nothing.

Storm Front. This book was soooo boring. I couldn't identify with the characters and there were way too many! Plot line was scattered. I am trying to save you $$!!

Flowers in full flower. As an adept writer Sandford has increased the visibility of Virgil Flowers and kept Lucas Davenport in the background. It is a smart move since within the same comfortable (to the reader) setting he doubles his arena with two heroes. In this version Flowers moves between rural Minnesota and Israel a tough geography but he makes it work. If you like Sandford's prior novels you will enjoy this one as well.

Fast Paced and Funny. It's not literature, but it's great escapism, as are all the Virgil Flowers novels.

Storm front. This book is not like Sanford's typical page turner. The characters were not believable and the action was confusing. I don't know if his partner wrote most of the book, or what, but I won't buy another Sanford novel if he has a co writer. I still don't understand how the book ends.

One Of The Best Books Sandford Has Written!. I have read every book John Sandford has published and this one is one of his best stories! I would highly recommend it.

Bookworm. Quick read. But not as good as the other books with Virgil Flowers. I may not buy the next one, not worth the money spent.

Great characters. A good crime novelist can create a memorable character who's featured in a series of good books: like Harry Bosch, Jack Reacher, John Rain, Elvis Cole -- and Lucas Davenport. A very good crime novelist can create a second memorable character, and Virgil Flowers is a prime example of this. Sandford has done another bang-up job with Storm Front.

Storm Front. This was a light read. A bit more on the history side would have made it better. Fun, lot of chasing and running, not much depth.

Storm. I love reading and love these books because, quite frankly, theyre an escape....but apparently, Sanford just had to say something negative about Fox News...really? Sanford, I don't buy your books because I give an iota about your political beliefs, so keep them to yourself so when I spend my hard earned money on your books, I'm getting something for my money - a good story. Keep you're politics to yourself and out of the books.

Flowers Has Met His Match. Virgil Flowers has finally met his match with 'Ma' Nobles. I truly enjoyed Storm Front as another Flowers adventure but what I liked most was the development of the character 'Ma' Nobles. She is perfect as on going character to give another dimension to Virgil's lie. I only hope that author John Sandford will keep the character alive in Virgil's world. I can't wait for the next Flowers novel.

Good Sanford novel. I took off one star for the crack about Fox News at the end of the story. I read John Sanford books to get away from all that crap! Otherwise typical fare from this author.

Storm Front. Outstanding! Highly recommended.

Storm Front. Very disappointing read.

Storm Front. I am really disappointed in this book......It was boring in the beginning......I read maybe a little over a 1/4. And then went 6 pages from end and did not feel I had missed a thing! Disappointed! Becky Dozier

Storm Front. As expected from this prolific author.

Good book. Book was great .

Storm Front. Excellent, best Flowers novel yet, great story and plot...and a compelling new character...here's hoping to see more of her (read more of her May be more appropriate!) in the future!

Storm Prey. I've enjoyed every Virgil Flowers book I've read until this one. Really silly and convoluted plot. Felt I was reading Carl Hiassen.

Smooth Verge. Flowers is a great read . Always moving on fast pace .

Yawn. C'mon, really - not funny.

Storm Front. I'm a big Sandford fan, and have been for years. I've read everything he's published and enjoyed them all. This one not so much. Pretty lame overall. Too bad; hopefully better next time.

Storm Front. I can honestly say this is the worst book I've ever read by Sandford. Very disappointing .
