Abusive novel...NOT romance!. I bought both the first and second books. After suffering trough the first I refuse to read this one. Jesse is manipulative and abusive. He rapes Ava on numerous occasions but she accepts it because it shows he loves her?!?! I am dumber for having read this book.

It's just so good!!. Download all 3 in this series. You will not be disappointed! The characters and story line will leave you gagging for it!

😃. Couldn't get enough, this book was so very riveting. Waiting impatiently for #3. No worries, it has a beautiful ending on its own. No cliffhanger!

Pathetic. I would've enjoyed this story if Ava wasn't so pathetic. She never stood up for herself. I could understand sometimes, but not every time just because of " his touch". This character set women back ages. I won't be buying anymore work from this author if this is how she views women. I only read the second book hoping Ava would grow a backbone. I should've listened to the bad reviews I read.

Holy crap. I'm sending my therapy bill to Ms Malpas. Sooooo emotionally draining yet so perfect!!!!! I love Jesse even at his worst. Onto book 3

Stupid!. Wow. She continues to be spineless in this sequel and he continues to trample all over her. I was so frustrated, I couldn't even finish it. Again I am mystified by all the good reviews! There is nothing cute or charming about his overly controlling ways! In real life, she's the type of woman who ends up missing and or dead. Ridiculous!

This man book 2. This book was amazing. I was a little worried about the second book of this series, but in all honesty, it was just as exciting as the first!!!

Such a wild ride!. This book takes Ava and Jessi from A-to-Z and back again and ends in the sweetest way possible. This author it’s so touching in the way she writes.

Loved it. Loved the series. I picture Jesse looking like Alexander Skarsgard. Great book and a must read.

Was expecting more.... It is easy to fall in love with Ava and Jesse’s unpredictable, over-the-top, and (at times) frustrating romance. This book was difficult for me to finish, which is surprising because I flew threw the first one. It is frustrating that the author doesn’t give Ava ANY backbone. I found myself shaking my head and becoming very disappointed with Ava’s lack of confidence and Jesse’s ridiculous control issues. I will say, however, it is an easy read and keeps you rooting for the characters as they progress in their love story.

Excellent writing. I feel a little frustrated in my confusion, but I know this is the 2nd of 3 books. Very excited to read book three and get the answers I am looking for. Very well written series. Ready enjoying the suspense that pushes me to keep reading.

Beneath this man. Ava still needs to be stronger to make this a happy ever after. I hope the last book has her taking more control. Really in this day and age I do not know many women who would allow such control over trivial things never mind a well educated women.

Difficult Characters to Like. These novels are shockingly (not really shocking) similar to 50 shades, with the exception that I actually LIKED the 50 Shades characters. In this book, Jesse is very, very controlling, to the point of obsession, and Ava apparently is too weakened by his touch to stand up for herself. He interferes with her at work, at home, and anywhere he chooses. It's the typical 'I'll die if you leave me' abusive relationship. And their friends smile at her and say "I know he controls your every move, but that just shows how much he loves you". Huh? I wanted to like the characters, but I just couldn't.

A bit annoying. A bit annoying how the main character doesn’t really stick up for herself although she has these thoughts in her head that she never actually says anything and it constantly has the reader thinking why won’t she say.... blah blah blah or put her foot down or something just a little annoying but other than that I finished the book I say it was half decent

Just bad.... How can you find such an abusive relation so enticing??? He treats her like crap, he never tells her anything about himself, he's always avoiding all things important and she says she's in love with him?.. I don't get it, I couldn't finish it.

Great read. This book is vivid and borderline crazy in a good way! Very intriguing and hard to put down! The book gets all the emotions from happiness and lust to heartbreak and betrayal. A good read if you loved fifty shades of grey... But a little more explicit.

I can’t idolize a manipulating man!. I read the first book and got hooked expecting more from book 2....I can’t even finish it! Jesse Ward is a manipulating man that the author is trying to romanticize! I can’t believe women think that this is a romantic and acceptable behavior! Is NOT sexy or cute!!! He is an a-hole!!!

Good read!. I really liked the book but got irritated during some areas not understanding how she could allow him to speak to her so disrespectfully.

Unhealthy Love. I tried my best to enjoy this book but honestly I couldn't. Instead this book made me angry. Jesse and Ava's relationship was abusive, manipulative and depressing. It's not desirable for a women to be talked to like a child all the time, not having a backbone or having someone invade every space in your life. Jesse didn't give Ava any choices it was his way only. Jesse is unstable and controlling and needs therapy. I really hope this is not how the author perceives how women should be treated. What is it showing that it's ok for someone to treat you as they please if they have money and power? It's unacceptable. Don't waste your money!!!

This Man series. This series takes for an emotional, breath-holding, angry, sexual ride! It ensnares you and won't let go. The only thing that I adverse to is that the main character, Ava, is so much more forgiving than I would ever be. After the bombshell of what Jesse, the main male character, did during the 4 day split, I would be gone- long gone. Maybe all I can chalk that up to is youth and naïveté. Still, I couldn't put the book down. Bravo!

Loved the series. I have yet to read a book that I bellied laughed, cried and got a little hot reading as I have with this three books. I loved the characters. They are believable and like able. I couldn't wait to see where the story took me. Jodi's writing is interesting and fun to read. I would love her to write this story from Jessie's POV

Abuse!!! DO NOT Compare him to Christian Grey!!!!!. This book would have been better if it didn't glorify an abusive man! He's not domineering at all, just straight verbally and emotionally abusive to Ava. And quiet frankly sexually abusive since he uses it get his way. Very poorly written female lead and male lead! And don't get me started on their friends encouraging this mess!! He needs help ASAP!!!

ug. i loved the first book. i love the alpha, over the top protectiveness. but this book, i couldn’t even finish it, so disappointing because i flew through the first book. this one is so ?? underwhelming. her “best friend” dicks her over SO many times and she keeps calling her the best friend ?? she’s the worst friend. and jesse is unbelievably over dramatic and protective, it’s hard to even read it. and ava literally has NO backbone, not even to keep the career she loves ? so disappointing, wish i didn’t waste 9$.

mrs. Holy WOW. I read a lot of books of all kinds. This one is immensely entertaining (that's the whole point, right?). I read at night and I could not wait til bedtime! What a treat- thank you! Don't rush the the 3rd book. Keep doing what your doing because it's working. Even better than the first!

Awesome. This series had me laughing the whole time. I read it twice. Great series for fifty shades and crossfire series!

Bad, bad, bad. 1st book was half decent, with somewhat of a plot. For $0.99, that was ok. This one is a disaster. So repetitive you can skip chapters at a time and won't miss a thing. And another thing, the characters in this book are in a dysfunctional, emotionally abusive relationship, yet there is barely a mention of that as a problem. And why would the guy keep chastising the girl for cussing when he does it as much? Gosh, reading this was exhausting and I gave up half way through. Don't waste your money.

Call the psych ward. Do not buy unless you want to waste your money. Nothing romantic about an abuse.

Wow what a read. This book was very emotional in every way , I don't think a book has effected my mood so much I was so wanting her to run away or yell at him so many times I kept reading to see what happened I ended up staying up til 3 am to get to the end of the first book and start the second one at least I can try and wait for the next book it's a must read but be patient and see where it takes you

Freak for real. I have the bad habit to finish what I start otherwise I would not read this nonsense. What is this? A 26 year old lets her boyfriend treat her like a doll because " he is afraid she'll leave him" ? I don't believe any woman should let anybody treat her like this. First book was better where he wasn't such a cave man. Sure we woman want to be cared and protected but told who to see, work and speak with? Com on! Horrible - and then he has a melt down cause he can't take it no more???? Aaaaaaaaaa - don't know how to finish the book, still have like 200 pages to go! I would never ever recommend this book to a real woman! this is just making me angry when she writes she doesn't tell him this and that so he doesn't get mad and then she finds out he had sex with everybody and it's ok for his one-night-stands come up here and there all the time? So guys can do what they want and its ok to lie to your love of your life? Horrible! Again not the right signals for girls... If the sex is good you can manipulated? This most defiantly the last book I read of the author!

Really Needs Editing -- but Okay. First two books are riddled with typos which drives the journalism major in me nuts. It could really use some editing. Redundancies abound. However, the general story is pretty good. Yes -- Jesse is borderline abusive alcoholic and a lot of that is glossed over. Yes Ava is a bit wimpy -- this is a trend stemming from Fifty Shades… If we didn't like it…it would get written.

Love this series!. I have read this series multiple times. Jodi Ellen Malpas is brilliant. She has a gift of developing flawed characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. Her plots are not predictable and keep the reader engaged. The passion between Ava and Jesse is so intense you won’t be able to put this book down until you have finished. - Heggie from Texas

Better but Dissatisfied. I do like the last bit of the book. The first more than half is like the first book. Power struggles, dirty sex, tantrums and more childish behavior. Ava, is very underwhelming she gives in to everything Jesse demands all because he forces sex with her. He pummels right over her wants and needs and she seems to shrug her shoulders and says “He gave me the D.” He finds himself in the same situations that he would steaming mad about if it was Ava, but tells her she is crazy. She can’t work with a certain male but he can have a woman that clearly wants him work for him. She makes this point and all he says she is good at her job I can’t just fire her. Ava needs a back bone. He is clearly stealing her birth control and again she doesn’t make a big deal about it. Jesse makes very few strides in this book we know a little background. The end redeems him a lot but there is still so so so far to go. Kate is still the annoying best friend and did a complete 180 on their friendship all because she found “The Manor” she is a horrible friend.

Oh myyyyy. Keep reading!!!! It's an amazing trilogy!!!! I'm hooked!!!

Not enough focus on the story. Too much focus on sex and not enough on the story. Liked the characters though. I don’t think I will read on in the series. I loved the other One Night series and could not put it down!

Never a dull moment. Such an addictive read. In this book, secrets were revealed and shocking events happened. This is the type of book that makes you want to read all day.

Disgusting. This book is one of the worst books I have read in a long time. I always finish a series once I start, it's a rule of mine, but this book made me so sick that I could finish he last. While the first was sweet and intriguing (even if it did follow the plot to 50 shades a little) the second book took it too far in a bad way. The author makes the main character, Jesse out to be protective and romantic as well as caring and sweet, however if you take a step back and really look at his actions they are manipulative, deceptive, controlling and most of all emotionally and mentally ABUSIVE. The way he bulldozes all of Ave's wishes and makes her do whatever he wants isn't romantic in any way, it's horrible. He forces her to move in with him against her will, rips apart a dress she paid for and worst of all bullies her into marrying him. Jesse does not love ave, if he did he would show her some respect and consideration for her own feelings. No, Jesse looks at Ave like an object that he wants to conquer and can use at his own will. This is not romantic and if you find it sweet, you have a seriously unhealthy view on relationships.
