The Breakers Series: Books 1-3 by Edward W. Robertson Book Summary

In the Breakers series, humanity faces not one apocalypse, but two: first a lethal pandemic, then a war against those who made the virus. This collection includes the first three books and is over 1000 pages (350,000 words) of post-apocalyptic survival.

BREAKERS (Book 1)

In New York, Walt Lawson is about to lose his girlfriend Vanessa. In Los Angeles, Raymond and Mia James are about to lose their house. Within days, none of it will matter. A plague tears across the world, reducing New York to an open grave and LA to a chaotic wilderness of violence and fires. Civilization comes to an abrupt stop.

Just as the survivors begin to adapt to the aftermath, Walt learns the virus that ended humanity wasn't created by humans. It was inflicted from outside. The colonists who sent it are ready to finish the job--and Earth's survivors may be too few and too weak to resist.

MELT DOWN (Book 2)

In upstate Idaho, Ness Hook is run out of his mom's house by his bullying brother Shawn. In Redding, California, Tristan Carter is graduating college, but with no job and no prospects, she'll have to move back in with her parents.

Then the world ends: first with a virus, then with an alien invasion.

Ness and Shawn take to the mountains to fight a guerrilla against the attackers. In California, Tristan and Alden are taken prisoner. Separated from her brother, Tristan crosses the ruins of America to track him down. She will stop at nothing to get Alden back--but her fellow survivors prove even more dangerous than the monsters who broke the world.

KNIFEPOINT (Book 3)

Raina was just a girl when the plague came. She survived. Her parents didn't. Neither did the world. As civilization fell, she took to the ruins of Los Angeles, eating whatever she could catch.

After two years alone, she's found and adopted by a fisherman and his wife. Their makeshift family lives a quiet life--until a man named Karslaw sails in from Catalina Island with an army of conquerors. Driven by visions of empire, he executes Raina's new father as a traitor and takes her mother captive.

But Karslaw's people aren't the only ones vying for control of the ruined land. As violence wracks the city, Raina joins a rebellion against Karslaw's rule. She will stop at nothing to free her mother--and to have her revenge.

Would strongly recommend.. Was very pleasantly surprised by this free book. It is very interesting and well written. I will be buying the rest of the series.

Surprise. What a wonderful surprise this series was to me! I did not expect much for the $ & unknown author (to me). Truly exceptional- kept me riveted & reading thru book 1,2,3 & now 4! Author takes a very used up idea & makes it fun again :)

Favorite. Everything you read in these books is actually happening now

Good idea Bad execution. This is the first set of books where I kept hoping that the main characters would be killed off. None of them had any redeeming qualities, coupled with only running into people who were as bad or worse than them. Add aliens with technology and no character development, whose only purpose seem to be to kill all the good people. The premise was interesting and the writing good, just kept waiting for some "good guys" to be introduced and that never happened.

Breakers Series. 1. Lousy or is it lousy. Either way "eww"

Engrossingly witty!!!. The post-apocalyptic genre has a new shining star!! Amazing how many of the witty examples he uses I actually know about...but then again movies, video games and TV have dummied us all haven't they??? Uber nerds...or children of the 70-80s will understand the Zerg, WoW, GOT/GRRM, Hatchet, LOTR, Willis, Don and many other references.

Enjoyable dystopian series. I admit it. I am post apocalypse junkie. But he def earned the four stars. the characters were entertaining. This series kept me engaged and entertained enough that I downloaded and read some of his other work as well. Well worth the price and time to read this series. If you enjoy it, try his short stories. They are pretty entertaining as well.

Very descriptive. The author is very descriptive and does a great job of making feel as if you are a part of the book however the books in the series do not flow together and even from chapter to chapter the characters do not have much connection until the last chapter of each book. And instead of the next book starting where the previous left off it starts with a whole new set of characters. All in all it was just very confusing and went into almost no information about the aliens or the boy that went with the aliens. I feel there was almost no conclusion to this story. I did enjoy the descriptiveness of the author.

Breakers series. I enjoyed this series so much I finished it in one day!

Epic story.. Great character development. Even though I did not think it was possible, author brought all the divergent plots together at the end. Well at least well enough you are not left wanting for closure…

Great story line. Really good story line easy to read hard to stop

The breaker series. Interesting complex read with a bit of sci fi and apocalypse mixed together

Really good read!. I will be reading more of this authors work. Love the characters, plot twists keep you turning the pages!

Just plain good.. Got this for free through a promotion and loved all three books. The characterization is wonderful and in a world filled with post-apocalyptic thrillers this stands out as being fresher than most in a familiar setting. I will definitely be purchasing the fourth book.

I love it. It’s really good

Do not waste your time here, move along.. One star because there was finally, thankfully, an ending.

Excellent series. I wasn't sure what to expect from this series, but I'm up to the sixth book, and I've enjoyed every single one. What really drives the series are the characters and the differing perspectives for the two main protagonists in each book. It was a joy to continue on through the series and come back to the characters and see how they and the world around them changed. Definitely worth picking up.

The Breaker Series books 1-3. Disappointing. I couldn't put the first book in the series down. Unfortunately the second book starts out at the beginning again with a different set of characters. Was very disappointed that the the series did not go forward. I rarely stop reading a book that I started, but reading the same story over from even more characters perspective is just boring.

Breaker series 1-3. A combination of my two most favorite story lines in science fiction, survivors of the end of life as we know it and alien invasion. Well written, thought provoking, addictive, I am unable to get enough of this story. Fortunately, there are 5 more books in the series. And off I go to book 4, 5 and 6. Peace to all!

The Breakers. Started slow and little too much nonsense about what was going on in character’s heads. Got better, though and overall good. A little too much gore for my taste, but glad I read it

Fabulous series. Just finished all eight (!) books, loved this series, fast paced, engaging, outlandish but never predictable. Also I've never read an eight book series before but already looking at his other stuff, good word man

Twisting and melancholy. I got this free. Yes, it’s a loss leader, but a generous one: thousands of pages. But even paid for, it’s a good read. Weaving stories together with twists which mean I have to take care reviewing! Parts had me sad, concerned for the characters; reflective about our world. Other parts had me smiling. I rarely put it down willingly

The Breakers. Wow, so glad I read this. Well worth reading

Post apocalyptic cracker!. Absolutely fantastic series, I tried to read it slowly as I didn't want it to end, but I just couldn't put it down! A rich world full of believable characters, fast paced and full of action! If you like post apocalyptic stories, this is for you.

Read this series.... Wow what a great story and what an adventure.could not stop reading chapter after chapter waiting too see what happened next..I could wax lyrical and blah, blah but I only need too say READ THIS!!! Lol..

Breakers to Knifepoint. Books 1-3 in an epic invasion story. Ok got hooked and read in 2 days! I really liked the intermingling of characters from 1 to the end of book 3. Spoiler alert! Not everyone made it...

Good books.. Great read.

Fascinating!. It is a while since I got hooked reading a series. I am pleased to say that The Breakers series have been added to my list of favourites, alongside some well-known series. I love the pace. And the way we are engaged to follow the events happening to one character, then another character, and so on, not connected at first sight, but all linked to the whole series. I can't wait to start reading the last four novels.

Breaker series. Book 1 great Book 2 loved it

Enjoyed it thoroughly!. Great read, engrossing and entertaining!

Storytelling at its best. What a great read! Imaginative scenarios, gritty, believable characters and lots of tension, unresolved relationships and possible futures. A real page-turner for me! Would love it if the author continued with further adventures of this bunch of survivors.

Interesting journey. Not being American it took quite a while to get my head around the construction and usage of words in these books. In saying that I finished the entire series and all in all found the books quite enjoyable. I’m not an avid reader, well, I got sick of playing a silly game (sudoku) while waiting for my grandchildren for pick up after school. Finished the entire line and happy I did. Thanks

The Breakers Series 1-3. Gritty, believable characters and story. Fast paced and unputdownable.

The Breakers Series 1-3. Fantastic read , could not put it down. Loved how the characters resurfaced throughout the series. Can't wait to get into the next book!

The Breakers. Great books but they kept me up to late, couldn't put it down.

Different and very enjoyable!. Loved the characters, their unique colours make this typical "aliens take over the world" story particularly fun to read. The not so perfect aliens are great and the hero is such a delectable anti-hero. Congrats!

Excellent. A really good read
