You Herd Me! by Colin Cowherd Book Summary

There are really two games, the one you see and the one you don't. The way I see it, the best way to use access to both worlds is to illuminate and reveal, not idolize and adore. It's better to be wrong than to be played for a fool. – Colin Cowherd

In this age of billion dollar athletic marketing campaigns, “feel good” philosophy with no connection to reality, and a Sports Media echo chamber that’s all too eager swallow whatever idiotic notion happens to be in vogue at the moment, it’s tough to find people who aren’t afraid to say what they’re really thinking.

But that’s where Colin Cowherd comes in. As his millions of fans on ESPN Radio and ESPNU already know, Colin is the rare sports analyst who’s brave (or crazy) enough to speak his mind—even if it pisses some people off. Of course, it helps that a lot of what Colin has to say is simply hilarious. Lots of writers can tell you about Boston’s storied sports history. But how many can tell you why the city of Boston is America’s five year old? Lots of writers will brag about the stuff they got right, but how many will happily list all the calls they got completely and utterly wrong? Whether he’s pointing out the stupidity of conspiracy theories, explaining why media bias isn’t nearly as big a deal as many assume, or calling out those who prize short term wins over sustainability, Colin is smart, thought-provoking, and laugh-out-loud funny. Some of the questions he’s not afraid to ask in You Herd Me! include:

Is Tiger Woods really a sex addict—or does he just have good PR?
Is “work-life balance” really the ideal we should all strive for—or is that just a way for people feel better about mediocrity?
Is talent really all it’s cracked up to be—or can too much talent actually be counterproductive?
Is the X games really a sport—or would we all be better off if we admitted it’s something else entirely?
Is Hell really a supernatural place of fire and brimstone—or is it actually just another word for living in Tampa?

Unapologetically entertaining and packed with behind-the-scenes insights you won’t get anywhere else, You Herd Me! is unlike any other sports book ever written.

Good stuff. Loved it.

Blowhard. Cowherd is a blowhard on the radio, constantly putting the working man down. I wanted to read this to reaffirm my feelings that Cowherd just loves to hear himself talk. He loves it so much he wrote a book about it. Too bad he's not as good as he thinks he is.

Well done!. But stop dogging the big ten!

Great fun read. As a fan of his radio show I knew this book would be good. Some great stories involving sports, life and a little bit of everything in between. Grab this, is an easy read but a fun read no doubt

You Herd Me. A quick easy read for anyone who enjoys gaining a different perspective on some of the more popular sport stories that appear in the news. Collin seems to have pensively examined various aspects of the sports industry, probably during periods of self examination and analysis that he claims is important to him. His take on topics are anything but fence walking. He has definite opinions on matters many of which are worthy of additional consideration and reflection. His positions have been shared previously on his talk show but the written form provides him additional opportunity to further develop his ideas. Good stories which were well written.

Amazing!!!. Not just smart on sports but very insightful on life.

You Herd Me. Great book! If you like sports, you'll love this book! Colin gives us a behind the scenes look of his experience and access to the sports world we don't typically get.

First book I've finished since kindergarten. It's like a good church service; 10 minutes of singing, 10 minutes of scripture and 40 minutes of real world application. Loved it!

Great read. As an avid listener to his radio show I couldn't wait to read his book!! I must say he didn't disappoint. Read through the book quickly and enjoyed his insights!

Coward, not a hero. When I want to hear a far-fetched contrarian point of view designed to get a rise out of listeners, I tune into Colin Cowherd. This book is the same worthless drivel. He loves to hear himself talk to much, he got someone to listen to him talk so they could write a book as him. More worthless, uniformed sports opinion from a blow hard who’s just an obnoxious in print as he is over the airways.

Best book of my time. This was truly a work of art. I've listened to this guy every morning for the past 3 years. I could literally read this book and it seemed like Colin was reading it to me. Everyone should take the time to read and take all of this in. It really is worth every penny you pay for it.

Learned A Lot.... This guy has sports insight like no other on radio or tv...it might not even be close! Sheesh!

Good Book. Colin always has an interesting take. He always reminds me that I may not be looking from all the angles.

Herd it before.. Colin has a unique outlook on many topics in sports and life. I enjoy listening to his radio show during the week. The only issue I had is that most of what he wrote in the book is stuff he has already said in the air. Reading each chapter we like listening to a 5 minute segment on his show. If you don't know his show, or are not a regular listener, he has some keen and interesting topics and life that most can appreciate, but the the whole time I read the book, I just kept thinking, " I've herd this before".

Awesome book!. Easy read, and entertaining throughout! Loved it highly recommend.

Funny. There is nothing more funny than the truth.

Transferred well. I have been listening to the herd for about a year now and to know the background stories to everything preached on the show gives me new insight into his opinions. The big-picture ideas he creates help my wife and I understand the infrastructure of the sports world which creates more depth and interest in the sports themselves. Thanks for a great read.

Page Turner. I'm not sure what took me so long to purchase this book, but I didn't spend hardly any time reading every page. Each chapter you are switching gears and changing topics. My only complaint was the book wasn't long enough. Left me wanting more. Great Read

Excited!!!. I listen to Colin everyday! Love his style, herd this book is filled with his opening rants.

Kind of like reading a conversation. If you like the show you will love the book. Intelligent insight and quick transitions between numerous topics. Including a number unrelated to sports.

You Herd Me. Good book, very enjoyable. If you like sports and all that goes into them ( egos, personalities, greed, gambling, human nature and etc ) this book will keep you interested

MUST READ. Interesting and thought provoking book, if you like sports this book is for you. The greatest thing about this book is that you will learn about life, business and politics as well as sports

Pumped. Really excited for this book to come out, I listen to this guy on radio and let me tell you he is 200 percent real talk. He adds a whole other dimension to sports talk and I'm excited to channel into his thoughts because they are intellectual. More sports fans should think like he does

Excellent, easy read for a sports fanatic or sports novice. Excellent, easy read for a sports fanatic or sports novice. Cowherd takes you inside his radio show and his life as a sports observer. He can relate sports to life with immeasurable ease and translation. I wish him success, and hope he writes more books and stays on national radio for years to come.

Good book for listeners. Great book for sports fans.. I listen to Colin every day, and I was surprised that a lot of what he normally talks about are in the book, but he goes more in depth in every idea that he has in the book. It's an easy read and I look forward to reading this book again in the future.

Great. Fantastic is an understatement.
