The Unremembered Empire by Dan Abnett Book Summary

Far out on the Eastern Fringe, the realm of Ultramar stands alone. Having weathered the Word Bearers’ attack on Calth and the subsequent Shadow Crusade against the Five Hundred Worlds, the Ultramarines primarch Roboute Guilliman now draws all loyalist forces to Macragge as he contemplates a new future for mankind. With the arrival of more and more fugitives from the war that has engulfed the rest of the galaxy, all distinction between friend and foe is lost – isolated from Terra by fearsome warp storms, is Guilliman making a bid for power to rival even the renegade Warmaster Horus?

Wow.... Not only possibly the Best Novel Dan Abnett has written but also the best 40K novel written.

Good work. This story is really pulling together the series. Looking forward to what is next.

Finally... I'll get the clichés out-of-the-way: could not put it down, amazing story incredible imagery baba blah. This book is amazing to me because of how much it brought together. The individual trials and stories that are happening all through the Horus Heresy storyline, simultaneously and you don't feel like you're getting anywhere, even going back into the past, in some instances. It feels like a crossroads, I don't know where it's going but I can't wait to go on that trip.

Very good read. Not much to say but that the book was a great read. After reading some of the early copies of the Horus Heresy I found myself saying I need another great read like that. This fill that gap for me. Enjoyed the read, and highly recommend.

Eye opening. Loved it, its certainly a must but for horus heresy fans, it gives so much depth to vulkan, corax and guilliman and the lion, it also explains alot of clif hangers, ONLY discrepancy i had with te novel the perpetual john grammaticus is suppose to be an outrageously strong psyker with a legendary ship and weapons, and before men rose to power was a champion of chaos...but hes not any of this in the novel

Dan Abnett for knighthood. It is a Dan Abnett book. Read it. Nuff said.

Great read!. Its always a good sign when you can laugh out loud to a book. Curze- hilarious and ripped this book away from the loyalist hands. But the interactions of the various chapters was on its own great. Well written and captivating.

One of the series' best!. Abnett's Unremembered Empire is not your conventional 40K book. While it ties up (or further explores) lots of different ideas from the series, it's real achievement is that it's a political thriller rather than 40K "bolter-porn". There's intrigue, fears and aspirations, politics, assassination attempts, and so much more. You do need to have read the previous books in the series to get the most out of this book though, as it is a piece of a greater whole. That said, this is a great book with a clear and crisp writing style, with terrific ideas and an eye for detail that any 40K fan will be thrilled with!

A Wonderful Continuation. Unremembered Empire ties in so many lose ends, and progresses the storyline of the Horus Heresy, making the novel a must read. It is a a smooth ride through the rich history of Warhammer 40K. I truly hope Narek doesn't meet his death until he finds comradeship with the Ultramarines. Conrad is majestically portrayed as the most elusive, vile and hard to kill of the turned Primarchs. He truly shares a trait with Vulkan by being so impossible to kill. An interesting side note is that the Dark Angels fleet is protrayed as one of the deadliest around but numbers only 20,000. What happened to the other 80,000? How many Ultramarines are left? 50,000? 100,000? Last of all- my favorite part of the book is when the Lion shrugs when he is notified that the Ulramarines were arming against him. A simple part that does a lot to show the temperament of the Lion.

Absolutely phenomenal. Once again Abnett strikes gold! The complexity of interwoven plots is astounding. Pulling the "human" threads from a group of Demi-gods is art, and also where Abnett excels. Being a true Warhammer addict for over 20 years, I appreciate all of the little gems and clever references that make me remember. Thank you for your art Mr. Abnett Cheers

The Story Moves!. Great book as to be expected from Abnett!

Unremembered Empire. This was off the hook. Konrad Curze stole the show. Brilliant.

A must buy..... Abnett shines as usual....great book!

The best yet. Really loved this book. Now I carnt wait for the next. Dan is a legend

Excellent. I enjoyed every page, not often you get four primarchs in one place!

Outstanding! Best in series!. This is hands down the best in the series. Dan Abnett is the master of Ultramarine and Space Wolf story telling, and is phenomenal here.

Brilliant. Dan Abnett has done a cracking job at bringing so many loose ends and short stories to an entangled and exciting conclusion. And the heresy still has a long way to go. Love it!!

Terribly flawed. So frustrating! Dan Abnett is a good writer but by this book he doesn't seem to be remotely interested in The Heresy series or even vague consistency. This is, for all intents and purposes, Dan Abnett's Comedy Super Killer Perpetuals Hilarious Action Escapades (with a few Primarchs as backing characters). The Primarchs of earlier novels had such charisma and inspired awe and now they are shouted at by ordinary people, get ambushed and nearly slaughtered by a few troops and then easily beaten by those crazy 20th century Perpetuals. Oh also they change character depending on what tenuous plot device comes next. And like a soap opera every other character pops up to explain what just happened. The Heresy Series started out as an epic background story to a very dark gothic fantasy - and now it's a poor episode of Dr Who. Please, Dan, stop writing this series - you're a good comic book writer - but you only care about forcing in your own characters and treating the main Horus Heresy as a bit of a maguffin. Just stop.

Absolutely fantastic. God!!! This book was superb, it tied up so many loose ends but also created more questions!! I've been an avid 40000 & White Dwarf reader for 20+ years but The Horus Heresy series is just the best story line ever. A big massive thanks to all the authors involved, you are amazing!
