The Woodlands by Lauren Nicolle Taylor Book Summary

Rosa never thought she’d make it to sixteen...

When being unique puts you in danger and speaking your mind can be punishable by death, you might find yourself fighting to survive. Sixteen-year-old Rosa lives in one of the eight enclosed cities of The Woodlands. Where the lone survivors of a devastating race war have settled in the Russian wilderness because it’s the only scrap of land left habitable on the planet. In these circular cities, everyone must abide by the law or face harsh punishment. Rosa's inability to conform and obey the rules brands her a leper and no one wants to be within two feet of her, until she meets Joseph. He's blonde, fair-skinned, green-eyed, and the laid-back complete opposite of Rosa. She's never met anyone quite like
him, and she knows that spells danger.

But differences weren't always a bad thing. People used to think being unique was one of the most treasured of traits to have. Now, the Superiors, who ruthlessly control the concrete cities with an iron fist, are obsessed with creating a 'raceless' race. They are convinced this is the only way to avoid another war. Any anomalies must be destroyed.

The Superiors are unstoppable and can do anything they want. After all, they are considered superheroes by the general public. But not everyone sees them this way. When they continue to abuse their power by collecting young girls for use in their secret, high-tech breeding program, they have no idea that one of those girls has somehow managed to make friends even she didn't know she had. And one man will stop at nothing to save her.

The Woodlands. Absolutely incredible. I'm not much of a reader, took a part job where I have a lot of free time so I figured why not. This book started off a little questionable on if I wanted to keep going, but after sticking with it gotta say I'm not disappointed. This book had me mad, smiling, ready to cry, and begging for mercy for people that weren't even real. This is an absolute must read.

Something different. A fun read of something I hadn’t expected from the excerpt. The style of writing is easy to follow.

That was awesome. Good job

Wasn't for me. I have no idea what this book was about. I couldn't get into it & it always seemed like something was missing. Like I was reading the series out of order & was starting with the last book. I kept reading hoping at some point something would happen to tie everything together, but it never did.

Satisfied. The book is very entertaining and give a lot of surprises but there are a lot of errors which do not hinder comprehension.💖

Amazing. so cool

Unexpected. I've a few books on dystopian society and didn't think this book would be all that interesting. Little did I know the further I read this book the better and better it got. If you think you've had enough of dystopian stories you haven't read them all try reading this book. It's a must read.

Awesome. I can't wait to finish this series. Seriously addicted.

The Woodlands. It almost felt like a true story! I love the suspense!

Great book!. Better than I expected it to be!! I couldn’t put it down! It was quite sad though

Surprisingly Excellent. For a teen novel I assumed it would be a fast read and a little cheesy. Then I thought 'oh geez here we go, a hunger games imitation!' It was a fast read but only because I couldn't pull myself away from it, and it was very well written! I can hardly wait to get it for my teenage niece, and I won't be deleting it from my own library :)

Amazing!. This book is amazing! If you like adventure, romance and some crazy twists and turns that keep you up late at night reading, this is the book for you! This is a unique dystopian with an epic romance! You will fall in love with Lauren Nicolle Taylor's writing and her characters.

Well Done!. Ok. This isn't Tolstoy. It's dystopian teen fiction and the author nailed it. No really. It's a very fun, light, if not wholly perfect, read. I found it extraordinarily entertaining and it MUSTN'T be missed if you're a fan of this genre.

Wished. I wished while reading this book I could do it in one sitting, but my family who I love dearly kept wanting my attention and pulling me away much to my annoyance. Otherwise I would have gone off in a quiet corner and read in complete contentment and had to read over a day and a half time period. I love it when a good book crosses my path and this is one of them...so worth the time and I'm looking forward to the next books and the complete unfolding of Rosas story.

This was a great read and a great escape!. I couldn’t put it down and had to read until the last book. I’m ashamed to say I skipped a paragraph or two throughout this series because the author had me on my toes. The suspense and thrill of it all was well written. This was a great read and a great escape!

Edgy. Interesting, edgy & compelling; an interesting take on a post apocalyptic society; edgy, yet not futuristic or primitive; very compelling female lead who recounts her life for the reader, with interesting psychological insights. Also a bit of a coming of age saga. Would even read again to make sure I hadn’t missed anything of import. Would recommend for readers 13 to adult.

Woodlands. I love how detailed this book is the story is absolutely crazy

Good book. Need to finish the story!!! Is there a 2nd book?

One of the best. This series is one of the best I've read recently. The writing is lovely, the plot kept me up all night, and the characters evolved over the three books in a way that made me keep buying more. I strongly recommend this series!

Very enjoyable read. !

A work of art. This book was amazing. It's awesome that it's free! The small but plentiful plot twists in this book were incredible, and the words practically reach out and pull you into the story. I absolutely loved it and I was heartbroken when I reached the last page. If there's not already a sequel, there needs to be.

I loved this book. This book was just amazing I don't even know how to describe it

Amazing. If you love/like hunger games series, divergent series, or the jewel series you will love this book, I love it

Overall pretty fine. Similar to other dystopian fantasy stories, same characters, same plot, but an enjoyable read nonetheless. A few mistakes (grammatically) which is always a bit frustrating too!

Title. This book was actually quite interesting at the start. But as I gradually got to the middle of the book, it kind of felt like history as repeating itself. The story had a good background and layout, but maybe it lacked vocabulary. Another thing I noticed in the story was that some words were misspelt. This was a terrible thing to have in a book that could have gone viral! But overall I think the author had done an okay job at writing the book. Just some minor mistakes (or maybe major).

The woodlands. What can I say! Just get it you won't be disappointed. Would make a great film too.

Fantastic read. I really enjoyed this book. The plot develops as you go which makes it more enjoyable. The characters are well rounded and interesting. I can definitely imagine this world and feel that it is a possible reality, I hope very far into the future.

Won’t be continuing the series. This book is so focused on pregnancy and motherhood it was barely even a dystopian novel after the first few chapters. Not for me.

The woodlands. Amazing!

Woodlands. Brilliantly written. I couldn't put it down, what a shame the story ended. I want more lol
