Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka Book Summary

Metamorphosis is a biological process by which an animal physically develops after birth or hatching, involving a conspicuous and relatively abrupt change in the animal's body structure through cell growth and differentiation. Some insects, amphibians, molluscs, crustaceans, Cnidarians, echinoderms and tunicates undergo metamorphosis, which is usually accompanied by a change of habitat or behavior.

Scientific usage of the term is exclusive, and is not applied to general aspects of cell growth, including rapid growth spurts. References to "metamorphosis" in mammals are imprecise and only colloquial, but historically idealist ideas of transformation and monadology, as in Goethe's Metamorphosis of Plants, influenced the development of ideas of evolution.

Hit too close to home. One of those reads that makes you realize that time is an illusion and people have struggled with the same problems for decades and centuries and so on. Super relatable even to this day.

Quick Read. Worth It. Interesting. Worth the time it took to read. Which wasn’t much.

this kafka guy. the feeling of abandonment after your role is finished is a true feeling that many are afraid of, i’m sure kafka went through something similar

Rip Gregor. Planning to read more Kafka in all his absurdity.

Loved. I really really liked this. I loved the metaphors and parallels. I loved being able to see inside his mind, seeing how he reacted to being completely estranged by his family, who he gave everything to. I loved seeing his decline up to his death and the way his family reacted to it. His sister who he was mesmerised by and so proud of in the last scenes calling him “it” and begging to get rid of him in the very scene before his death. I saw parts of this story in my life and in the people around me. Loved it.

Utter ridiculousness. I don’t even know where to begin with how much I hated this supposed “classic”.

Worth reading many times.. This book evokes many curiosities, on purpose I think. And so, whilst the novella may seem simple on the eye, there’s a lot to discover and learn from as you try to answer those questions. This book would therefore be relevant to a divers selection of factors that influence our lives and it’s perceptive simplicity.

Incredible storytelling. Kafka is a master at a simple tale told well.

Metamorphosis. I just have to say that this metamorphosis is so disturbing but at the same time full of reality. One cannot know for sure whether the ending is the best for the story itself. I mean... what would one do in this situation right?

Sentimental. Poor gregor

Truly astonishing. The emotion this book gives is just unmatched, the way it makes you think, it’s just pure genius.
