Mr. Thought is was good, but not great. HFT is not the biggest problem for mom and pop. Wall Street and banks get away with murder. Anyone else would be in jail. The book fails to finish strong.

Thank you!. Thank you for writing on this topic, your an American hero for brining this to light. Thank you to the guys at IEX for having the courage to find your own way, a way that is fair and ethical.

Excellent Read!. Flash boys is an excellent read diving into the slums of the financial world, HFT and those who continue to try and defend the average investor. Great read for finance buffs and the casual investor.

This is a real thriller.... Once again, in a masterful way, Michael Lewis reduces an arcane technology, high frequency trading, to something not only understandable but frankly fascinating. This book is as much a page-turner as any thriller. I could not put it down. Highly recommended.

Simply complex. Lewis succeeds here in making the complex palatable and the mundane riveting. As MONEYBALL made math a fun read here FLASH BOYS makes algorithms and protocols enjoyable to learn about. A worthy read.

It will enrage you. If you want a to read a case study of what small government and looks like, read this book. I would never play the stock market. Not after reading this book. We just got over the crash of 2008 and these guys are still at it, preying on the American people. An absolute must read.

Total Page Turner. I love Michael Lewis’s writing. I purchased this book hesitantly as the topic did not seem interesting. I was hooked on the first page. Beware, this is a page turner. You will not be able to put it down.

Excellent !!!. Excellent!!!!!!

Lewis fails. One sided, poorly researched, felt rushed and story lines don't flow. Parts of the book were already published in vanity fair. Usually a fan of his work. Overall a disappointment, don't waste your time.

Wall Street Revealed. This book enabled me to better understand high frequency trading. Wall Street is always seeking new ways to abuse its clients and HFT is the latest approach. This book is well written and will hold one’s attention.

Flash Boys. Michael Lewis made Wall Street great again by making it honest again.

Like It so much. Very exciting and love it, and I learn a lot of new things.

Incredible. Meaning both hard to believe and beyond imagination. A fascinating look at what lengths many people will go to to cheat the system, and how a few can make it right again.

Brilliant work, reads like a spy thriller. I picked this after seeing the Charley Rose interview. I couldn't stop reading it and was amazed at the level of insidious greed in the HFT's. If you invest, read this before you buy another stock. You are paying a "speed tax" to a bunch of people that will risk crashing the entire system so they can scam others.

Wall Street is trembling. The books should be a wake up call for the Justice department to finally start investigating. It is time that the information received ahead of the transaction being considered insider trading. A must read for every broker

Solid Read - I Learned Much. I manage Futures and Futures Options for a living and do not deal in equities, but enjoyed Lewis’ literary discussion of HFT and how IEX evolved. I think everyone will have reasons to downgrade the book and reasons to promote it. For those looking for intricacies of order types and different HFT arbitrage this is not a technical or typical investment/analysis book. There are some interesting characters, but it doesn’t rise to the level of an intriguing thriller either. It was a great read while doing cardio at the gym.

Salacious and self-aggrandizing. Lewis wrote this to sell, not to provide an even-handed examination of HFT. Lewis falls short of providing actual insight by writing a largely anecdotal novel and passing it off as fact. Fascinating topic and good read, but don't look too closely if you're looking to gain a deeper understanding of these concepts as an objective observer.

Excellent read!. This book was a very intriguing read; especially to those of us who are outside of Wall Street professionally, but who trade stock personally and trying to understand the very loosely regulated "game" of the US stock market "institution". In the end, its the collective originating capital of the investors who pay the scalped-profits; until they speak, no change is evident as clearly communicated within. But hey, this would also makes for a great movie!

Amazing. Excellent book and, much like all of Lewis' work, is well written. Possibly his best book I have read of his yet. (I have read nearly all of them!)

A must read!. Entertaining, fantastic read. Many thanks to both the author and crew at IEX.

Flash Boys. Typical (read "The Big Short") inside look at a world most of us didn't know existed. However, it is also typical of a Michael Lewis book to be repetitive about the same subject to the point I start page flipping.

Michael Lewis does it again!. Excellent & intriguing book even for the non-investor type. As an individual trader I’ve often thought that something like this was going on when market actions just “didn’t make sense.” This book brought clarity in an exciting, thrilling & captivating fashion. I highly recommend the iTunes audio book as well, Dylan Baker (narrator) does a great job.

Great. Captivitaing insight. succinct and easy to read, for someone of any background

Boldest Book Since Steyn's America Alone. This is one of the top ten books to be written this century. Don't read it at your peril.

conundrum truths. so much truth in this financial conundrum

Flash Boys. Read this and if you own stock; in your portfolio, 401K, or any where else; be angry - be very angry. If you believe holding the 1% accountable is class warfare this will confirm that belief, but in the opposite direction. Do you pass by a penny when you see it on the street? This book documents how high-speed traders steal from you every time you make a trade, and there is nothing you can do about it. When the high-speed traders take your pennies their billions take care of themselves. This is a page turner of a story. Once you start it you will want to keep going until you've accounted for all your pennies.

Amazing Read!. Recommended highly - this book reads like a novel, while dealing with the highly technical, highly addicting, and for some, highly confusing business of the stock market - watching the process, and learning the greatest value is time over all else, in the monied processes, while watching the individuals, companies, and markets operate, is truly fascinating - must read!

I work in the markets. Pretty well written. Lewis is an easy read and I always enjoy his style and story-telling. Don't expect this to cover everything about HFT or go too in depth, but he really does a great job of giving all types of readers a stronger understanding of how the market really works against investors. Through his characters they give a fair assessment of the pros and cons of HFT while also talking about the systemic problems built into exchanges and bank dark pools. Worth your money.

Interesting Information. The information was interesting but this isn't a good read by Lewis' standards. If I just wanted details, I would have bought a text book.

Wall Street criminals abetted by the feds. Makes me proud and glad to be Canadian. Brad and co, despite clearly illustrating the astounding deceit, dishonesty, immorality, and express criminality underlying the big banks and trading houses of Wall Street, have yet to move the SEC to do anything about it thereby making them complicit. So, essentially America’s securities system is being skimmed and the US government is doing nothing to fix it. Wow!

Flash Book. This book is uneven and begs for a sequel, but it is timely and rings true and has to be read. Many negative reviews seem to be based on excerpts published in the New York Times Sunday Magazine. The full book answers many of the criticisms. It is really a story about remarkable people and not an ideological screed. That story may often be hard to follow in the many threads being juggled, but is one needing to be told and heard.

E. Good yf

Cover change. Why did the cover change?

To Michael Lewis,. It opened my eyes to see how the Stock Market system operated with HTF, it goes to show one that Good Triumphs over evil. Thank you Michael Lewis for writing a wonderful book, Brad, Ronan and associates for being true to one’s’ self making the world a better place. God bless Sergey Aleynikov.

Good read and insightful.. I enjoyed the book very much. I learned the gist of how the market is being used by HFT but still a little in the dark about all the inner workings. It definitely makes you think.

Lewis's best yet. All of the above. Reads better than a thriller. One of the most enthralling books to catch my attention in a while. Let the HFT witch hunt begin!

Intrigue and Meat. Enough technical meat to keep my mind turning and involved and enough plot to make my arm hairs stand on end at the end.

what a joke. Basic understanding of markets makes for a semi factual book.

Great short read. You can finish this book in a weekend and it will be as spellbinding as the da Vinci code. Except its non fiction and you'll learn how you're being ripped off.

Saw him on the a daily show. I saw the author on the daily show yesterday, bought the book and now I can't put it down. Like another reviewer said - this reads like a thriller. And keeping in mind that non-fiction doesn't typically keep my attention long, this book is phenomenal, scary, but phenomenal, but scary..... But I must say it's good to know there are decent people out there. The knowledge settles my soul a bit and makes me feel a tiny bit less helpless and overwhelmed by all examples of human greed and selfishness. Good stuff. Give it a read.

Fascinating & Illuminating. Read this book. It will strike at the heart of what you think you know about our entire economic system. It contains incredible detail and genius prose. Thank you again Michael Lewis! Well done

Essential reading. What do you get when you put a finance guy, a telecoms guy, an IT guy, a few Microsoft national puzzle solver experts in a room with an honest man determined to get to the bottom of a problem? You get a book that explains how the NYSE and the WORLD has been manipulated by Wall Street charlatans and high frequency trading (HFT) for over a decade! A must read for any American that wants insight into a financial crisis is nurtured, cooked and brought to fruition.

Flash Boys. An incredible book that everyone should read. Thank you Michael Lewis for bringing to live this incredible story

Ludlum writing style - claims at best problematic!. You can enjoy conspiracy theory style of this book. It is a page turner if you don't bother yourself by checking validity of the claims. After a number of manipulation on the markets, you might be tempted to believe in any claim of misconduct. But be careful - not every criticism of markets is correct and based on facts. This book is at best problematic if you treat it as a serious analysis of the market problems. Crisis of 2008 clearly shows that there are numerous problems to solve. However this book is not the one that can help in even identifying real problems and even less in finding solutions. And if you want to learn more about how the markets are functioning and get balanced view of the reality read the book "Flash Boys: Not So Fast" by Peter Kovac.

Flash Boys. A fabulous book written for the layman investor. Filled with detail of an unknown world, it teaches the reader to understand, if only partially, by means of incisive profiles of the plot's primary protagonists.

Interesting. Compelling. Sad.. The financial system is rigged and we all know this, but knowing the details of how some of it is done is eye opening, frustrating, and sad. Also knowing that some people - those who benefit from it- either deny it's rigged or say there's nothing wrong with rigging it makes one realize just how much the money culture has taken over. To those who think people don't matter, just money matters- you won't like this book.

Boring. I thought this book was so boring.

Fleecing the retail investor. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes of the stock market that the average retail investor doesn’t know about. Imagine if you are a retail investor and you click on the buy/sell button when you’re looking to buy or sell a stock on a brokerage app and the price you buy/sell it at is different than what you saw on the screen when you clicked that button. In Flash Boys Michael Lewis makes the argument that a high-frequency trading firm front ran your order and got in at a better price before selling the shares back to you for a small profit. Those pennies add up to huge profits for firms such as Virtu Financial and Citadel Securities which say they enable the commission free trading retail investors have access to today. These firms also say liquidity has improved and spreads have narrowed. Every book needs a hero and the hero of this story is Brad Katsuyama, a mild-mannered trader at the Royal Bank of Canada. Convinced that HFTs were front-running his orders he leaves RBC and opens his own stock exchange, IEX, with the goal that it would level the playing field for all investors. As of 2022 the role of HFTs still loom as large as ever as they continue to fulfill the role of market maker.

Stunning depiction of complicity to cheat. It seems that many companies such as TD/Waterhouse and their affiliate ThinkOrSwim, have a great deal of explaining to do. This book, combined with others such as Broken Markets, explain to us why we should speak out strongly to our financial institutions and ask them to force themselves to comply to their own codes of ethic and conduct. We do not need to have our book, our averages, our trades, sold to HFT firms just for the sole purpose to have these firms front run our trades and test, to the peril of the market, imaginary stops. This predatory behaviour must stop and we all have a moral obligation to speak out, stand our ground and seek compliance on the part of the companies holding our funds that pretend to facilitate fairly our trades. This book and others have made a defining moment for the muppets. Stand up and speak for yourselves, this book is a drum beat for us all to be heard
