Deadline by John Sandford Book Summary

The thrilling new novel in the #1 New York Times–bestselling series.

In Southeast Minnesota, down on the Mississippi, a school board meeting is coming to an end. The board chairman announces that the rest of the meeting will be closed, due to personnel issues. “Issues” is correct. The proposal up for a vote before them is whether to authorize the killing of a local reporter. The vote is four to one in favor.

Meanwhile, not far away, Virgil Flowers is helping out a friend by looking into a dognapping, which seems to be turning into something much bigger and uglier—a team of dognappers supplying medical labs—when he gets a call from Lucas Davenport. A murdered body has been found—and the victim is a local reporter. . . .

Great read. Sanford has done it again.

Just OK. Weak ending. Not a page turner by any stretch. Sorry.

Deadline. Perfect F Flowers book. Love this guy now he has a best friend

Deadline. A great mix of murderous crime, irreverent yet ethical detective, and small town Midwest people, written with an eye for setting details, character development, and the "subtleties" of life. Sandford gets it all right in this one. I strongly recommend the other books in the Virgil Flowers series as well.

The Deadline. One of his best yet! Feels like a visit from an old friend.

Excellent. One of the best from an author who has written quite a few good ones.

Deadline. Another great read. One of my favorite series

Deadline. Loved this book. Especially the ending.

Deadline. Another fun read. Any thing that has Virgil Flowers or Lucas Davenport, or both, has to be great. Deadline is true to form. Bob D.

Great as always. This was everything I come to expect from John Sandford. I love his books and have read all of them. The action was lively, and the dialogue is realistic. My only problem is that I read it far too quickly, and now I have to wait until the new Lucas Davenport novel comes out.

Deadline. Another great book by Mr. Sanford. A great read.

Fun Read,. Like all Virgil Flowers books this is fun and exciting to read. You smile while trying to solve the crime with Virgil. You’ll smile while reading.

Best mystery ever!. And I have read hundreds. Love the dog theme, the humor and the ending.

Holds you all the way thru. Writes a great book. Keeps your interest the entire book. Doesn't leave you guessing about what he writes and yet maintains your interest thru the entire book, right up until the last page.

Deadline. As usual. Virgil effin' Flowers does it again! Loved it!

Too complicated. After 150 pages I had to quit. It's just too complicated and convoluted. I don't see how anyone follows the story lines. Not enjoyable at all.

Deadline. Another outstanding thriller. Having graduated from Winona State Unv, enjoyed the Deadline.

Great story, better ending, we got a dog!. Great finish, happy ending!

Deadline. That F-ing Flowers is at it again.... Great twists and turns..... Once again you can't go wrong with John Sandford. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Deadline. Oh, yeah! It's good. This is probably the best Virgil Flowers book. You stayed right with the characters. Including the doggie action in the story was a real bonus. Dialogue was fun and made me smile a lot. Ready to have a story with Lucas Davenport. Thanks for the great stories.

Entertaining read. Enjoyable story with very colorful characters, non stop action.

Another great story. I love the pace and tone of the Flowers books, this one especially. The action was great (with just the right amount of TFF humor) even if the story was a bit predictable. It's fun going back and forth between the Virgil and Davenport stories, seeing where they intersect and how these two characters approach their mysteries in their own very distinct styles.

Well written. There were multiple times where I literally laughed out loud at the skillfully crafted story telling

Deadline. Sanford rivals Elmore Leonard in dialogue. That's the highest compliment I can give any author.

Another great read!. I can't help myself. I love reading Sandford. It's not brain surgery kind of reading but his down-home humor and witty one liners keep me smiling. I even find myself copying and pasting many of the quips into my notes app so that I can use them later and claim them as mine. Do yourself a favor and read this next adventure of Virgil Flowers. You'll be glad you did!

Outstanding!. One of the best final chapters ever written. The visual picture of the chaos and ensuing mayhem inflicted by the amazon “Auntie Vigilantes” had me howling! GREAT READ!

Deadline. I don't really know anything about reviewing books, but I can say that I have read every single book that John Sandford has ever written and I have never once been disappointed. The Kidd series has never grabbed me like either the Prey series or the Flowers series, but have been great just the same. Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers along with all the supporting characters in their respective novels get better with age. READ ANYTHING YOU CAN FIND WITH JOHN SANDFORDS NAME ON IT!!!!!!!!!!

DLP. Really great book. A quick and easy read. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Forget it. Not worth your time or money. Suffered through 100 pages and deleted it. Nuff said!

Outstanding. I have read nearly all the Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers stories. Loved them all, and this is one of the best.

Great story. I really enjoy the F'n Flowers novels and this was a great, funny read.

Deadline. Sanford does it again. A master story teller. Couldn't put it down. How could you not love Virgil Flowers? This is a must read!!

Deadline. I really enjoyed this book. Many sub plots and lots of humor. A fun read!

Deadline. This book was a relief to the need for another Virgil Flowers book. Yet in the need for another book there was something about it that was lacking the hook that made me like the rest of the series. In all it was still a great book.

Classic Flowers. Reading this book is like watching a new episode of your favorite TV series: you know all the main characters, you’re familiar with thier manerisms and sayings, and you know you’ll enjoy the time you invest. It’s not rocket science, just pure fun with some suprising plot twists thrown in for good measure. That F-ing Flowers is at it again!

Great story!. LOVED the story. Flowers is my favorite character of Sandfords. Between laughing and crying at the end, I could have read a hundred more chapters it was that good!
