Too predictable and drawn out. My first Nora Roberts book and I know from too early what was going to happen. Unnecessary time spent on building her family when they weren't really the core of the ending. No suspense, no thrill.

It takes you in . . .. From the first words, this book captures you and takes you along until the very last! Ms. Roberts has outdone herself with this story, characters that you can visualize so easily. I would have to say this is my favorite Nora Roberts book!

Sub-par. It just was an okay book. The story had some exciting points but it just never truly delivered.

Liar. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! I could not put this book down! Very well written! The plot just keeps unfolding and revealing more and more surprises! Highly recommended.

Good story, but..... As a die hard Nora Roberts and J D Robb fan, I've read almost every one of her books (many more than once). While this story is a really good one in theory, it falls short of Roberts captivating storytelling style--so much so that I wondered, at times, if it was penned by a ghost writer. Being from the south myself, I appreciate that Roberts tried to evoke part of the culture of East Tennessee by including the colloquialisms and rhythms that are distinct to the region. Unfortunately Shelby's character too often came across as less than she was, due to her dialog. The characters of Griff and Violet were much more believable. The character development fell short in comparison to other NR books of this genre, as well. Even though I can easily say the was my least favorite Nora Roberts book, I still admire her as a storyteller. Everyone--even our favorite authors--gets off their game now and then. She bounced back and still has my loyalty as a fan!

Bored. I did a lot of speed reading in this book. In my opinion this is her worst. So glad it ended.

Nice Story. It was a sweet story but not suspenseful enough for me. A little bit of a slow read with too much focus on the detail of Shelby’s family, friends and love interest. Not enough detail and intrigue on the plot of the ex-husband and what titled the book.

Liar. Great story! Loved the characters and I wish there would be a second book to go into the future of Forrest, the police officer.

The Liar. I thought the book was ok .. I haven't read Nora Roberts in a long time and unfortunately I found this story to be predictable, I was hoping that she would add a better twist but it was not tobe. I loved the characters and the small town setting, especially the ladies in the salon. It was a good read nevertheless.

Not very good!. Definitely not one of Nora’s better reads. I thought it was very predictable and drug on for too long…I found myself skipping over several pages to get to the good stuff. I still love Nora tho! 😊

Get to the point….. I get it, everyone is a quirky southern person. Lots of unnecessary filler and conversations.

Not my favorite. I usually love Nora Roberts, but the Liar was just so so. I found it a bit boring at times and confusing on the character. The ending was very predictable.

Excellent As Always. I always enjoy Nora's books. Characters are smart, funny and real. She weaves a warm tapestry that just wraps you up and keeps you warm with love and laughter. Fun stuff!

It’s no lie... This is a great book!. The Liar is a wonderful book from this mega popular author! In my opinion, it’s one Nora Roberts’ best! Yes, as one of the negative reviews said, I DID predict whether or not her husband was really dead, right from the beginning. Doesn’t mean I will reveal that in this review. Still, this is an exciting, suspenseful scary, unpredictable suspense tale that not only delivers a chilling conclusion, but also features a wonderful, realistic love story! If you’re a fan of Nora Roberts’ golden, perfect brand of romantic suspense, this book is to be treasured!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Best read in a long time. Honestly this is the best Nora Roberts that I have read in a good long time. This is definitely one of my favorites and is mildly predictable it's a great read. You fall in love with the characters within the first chapter

LIAR is amazing. I like stories with plenty of intrigue, romance, bad guys getting their just desserts, and admirable law enforcement thrown in for good measure. Could have done without the sex specifics, but at least they were few, compared to contemporary romance, thus easy to skip. Great read.

Started good........ A big fan of Nora Roberts and loved the sample which led me to buy the book but the book went on and on and the plot didn't seem to move. Found myself skipping paragraphs to see if the book would start moving. My favorite part was the funny texts. Makes me wonder if this is one of her first books that she rewrote. Doesn't seem like her normal caliber of books.

Bebop. First time reading Nora Roberts. I have to say I'm now a fan! Love Griff and Shelby and just adored Callie! Would love a sequel, could read about all these characters anytime!!

Love & Murder, Figure out Which. Almost stopped reading this book thru the first half. Wasn’t that exciting. Glad I kept reading. Ended much better than it started. 2 Stars for first half, 4 Stars for second half. Enjoy the Whole book.

Limped right out of the gate. Yikes. This was not up to her usual standards. Predictable from the start and very slow. Even some of the scene descriptions were not just similar but practically identical to scenes in some of her other titles. Really disappointing.

Good book. The story itself was good but the southern voices , particularly the little girl , were very annoying!

The Liar .... The beginning of " The Liar" has a bit of a slow start, Shelby the main character Is picking up the piecesa of her life after her husband's sudden death and some shocking revelations that come to light as Shelby works to settle her husband's estate. I found the beginning of the book a little boring, but when Shelby moves back to her hometown The Ridge and begins to connect with her friends and family, the book comes to life with rich descriptions of the setting and supporting characters and an exciting love interest. As Shelby finally begins to put the pieces of her broken life back together, trouble comes back into her life in the form of some suspicious visitors in The Ridge. Suddenly accidents, murders and break Ins start happening In the Ridge and every thing that happens is somehow connected to Shelby, her dead husband and the suspicious strangers. This is when the plot of the book really takes off and I couldn't put It down. The book doesn't disappoint with this story line until the end, the conclusion of the big mystery felt a little rushed and flat In my opinion. It was like this huge build up to an event that was over in a few short pages. Overall I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery or a romance, it's worth a read but like I said there are a few things that could of been improved upon. 3 stars

Longggg. I love Nora Roberts but this is probably my least favourite book of hers. It’s long and drawn out with a lot of useless tidbits.

"The Liar" review. I absolutely loved this book! Thank you Nora Roberts for another fabulous read! I could barely put this book down to get some sleep, since I started reading it 5 days ago. But bills have to be paid somehow. A beautiful story of love, of building existing and new relationships, and always the exciting drama, mystery and sparkle I always enjoy from Ms Roberts. Thank you so much and I look forward to hopefully reading the other stories about Emma Kate, Matt and maybe even a spin off about Forrest?? Thank you a million times for filling my evenings with wonderful stories and lowing me to escape into another world for just a little while! A forever grateful fan! Linda N Calgary, Alberta
