Buried Book Summary

Buried (book 1, Twisted Cedars Mysteries Trilogy)

In the coastal town of Twisted Cedars, Oregon an ugly secret from the past has been festering for over thirty years when five librarians were targeted by a serial killer. Now an anonymous emailer wants true crime writer Dougal Lachlan to tell the story. To uncover the truth Dougal enlists the help of local Twisted Cedar librarian Charlotte Hammond.

Since the disappearance of her older sister, Daisy, eight years ago, Charlotte has led a quiet, sheltered life. But as Dougal’s investigation proceeds she realizes there is no safe zone. Not even in libraries. And especially not in Twisted Cedars.

Twisted Cedar Mysteries (a three book trilogy):

Book 1: Buried

Book 2: Forgotten

Book 3: Exposed

"CJ Carmichael is a seasoned author... and this shows in A Buried Tale. She has written a fluid, easy to fall into mystery and I'm really hoping there will be more books in this series. The first installment in the Twisted Cedar Mysteries was a great read and I can't wait for more.“ - Cozy Reader

"One of my favorite elements of Carmichael’s books is her gripping portrayal of family dynamics.” Kathy Altman, USA Today

Buried - C.J. Carmichael Reviews

  • Surprise!

    By CMc327
Enjoyed this fast paced book and didn't want to put it down. Numerous unexpected developments and an ending that was a total surprise.
  • Buried is the most coherent of the series

By First review for a crap update
This book is the most coherent of the series and sets up a nice plot for the books that follow. Sadly, the remaining two books don't finish up the plot threads, leave gaping plot holes and just flat forget apparently to answer some questions that this book raises. Not a horrible way to spend a couple hours but don't waste money on buying they remaining books.

Thoroughly enjoyed Buried, well written but most of all captivating enough to make you read as much as you can at any given time. I'm waiting for Forgotten and Exposed to go on sale. I will definitely buy. Being a senior, money is a little tight right now. Thank you though for the experience of getting to know these characters.

  • A good book, but just missed being a great book

    By Bookworm Sue
I enjoyed reading this book, but the ending wasn't really an ending. The story just stopped and lose ends were not finalized. A cliff hanger, and not a stand alone book!😞
  • Couldn't put it down

I got this book for free and didn't have high expectations. I LOVED this book. It's everything I love about thrillers. There's depth and lots of twists and turns. I purchased the second as soon as I was done and read that in 2 days and now I'm on to the final book. Definitely worth every penny. $10 for the series feels like I'm stealing these. CJ Carmichael surprised me with this series. I cannot wait to read the third and final book Exposed. All the unanswered question will finally be revealed and I sadly don't want it to end but I can't wait to find out.
  • Great book

This book is great! I'm not even a reader and I couldn't put this book down the moment I started! The characters are great and since I'm from PNW I had a deeper connection to story. I encourage you all to read this!
  • Just could NOT put this down!

    By Bevnau82
I initially stumbled across this book by accident, since it popped up as a free download. First, this is by far a definite book they didn't need to make free, because I'd definitely have paid for it! I literally started this book two days ago, couldn't stop turning the pages until I got to the end. "Buried" is so smoothly written, you lose yourself in the characters. It's not until you check the clock, you'll see the time flew by. I'm a huge thriller fan, and was skeptical at first about "Buried", but once I gave it a chance, I've been texting fellow thriller fans to go get it! You don't get lost in description, which some writers tend to do, nor do you feel less adequate as a human being for large complex words stumping your brain...but when you finish the book, you'll be wanting more. And guess what? There is more! And I've already downloaded, and purchased them!
  • Very great work

This was mind blowing I really did not know that Kyle killed Daisy but I did know that he is a bad guys though.
