Sundown on top of the World. Although it was a good book I thought it was very stretched out.

Sundown on Top of the World. Although this story was very well written and I would have given it a high rating, I would never have purchased the book if I had known how many times the F word was used in her writing. It may be true that there are a lot of people out there who speak the way she had her characters speak, but I believe they are not in the majority. R.E.Donald would be wise to realize that her writing is good enough that she doesn't need that kind of trash talk to make it acceptable.

Slow start but engaging. It takes a little too,long to establish the story, but keep reading. The characters are engaging, the setting is fascinating, and the story keeps one guessing once the characters, the crime, and the setting are established. Almost quit reading after 40 or so pages, but glad I persisted.

Great characters and a compelling story. I took a break from reading Alan Turing: the Enigma to read this one. That's not unusual for me — I often punctuate the reading of long books with intermissions of shorter, easier material. I like the characters and the pacing of this story quite a bit. You can tell when an author knows what it's like to live and think and experience things by how they flesh out their people realistically. Interesting storylines are, of course, essential, but never make up for people that feel contrived or unbelievable. This is a mystery/police/detective novel at heart, but it should also appeal to those who don't necessarily love the genre, thanks to the ability of the author to tell stories about people.

Sundown on Top of the World. Such a satisfying read! I think I fell in love with Hunter, the central character. His deep need to solve a 25 years old cold case file left from his rookie year as a RCMP, resulted in a series of coincidences that never felt unlikely. Good character development throughout the story. After reading the book, I have a desire to travel and see Alaska for its beauty and the interesting people who live there. I definitely recommend this book!

Yukon adventure. Follow Hunter Rayne as he re-visits a case from 25 years in his past as a rookie RCMP thru its final conclusion in his current life as a long haul trucker. This book takes you into very northern British Columbia, Alaska and deep into the northern wilderness along the might Yukon River. Hunter’s tenacity and some life saving experiences for all the characters makes this a thrilling read.

Sundown On Top of the World. I sure enjoyed reading the book. I lived in Alaska for 43 years, went to Dawson City a few times and drove the Alcan more times then I wanted. However seeing the wildlife along the highway was awesome. The story held my interest through the whole book. There are a lot of people who come to the Alaska and Yukon frontiers who are running from the past. Great book.

North to Alaska. Reading this book reminded me of the stories my daughter brought home each Fall when she returned from Alaska--a college student earning her own way. The lives of women are as tough as described, but make for a strong woman who can handle just about anything life throws her way. On my bucket list, I hope one day soon to see Alaska; in the meantime I loved this ride.

Cold cool & warm. This is a book to chew over slowly enjoying the plot developments and the confident revealing of character. It is a classic detective story in an unusual setting which the writer brings to live by an accumulation of detail. I loved it and felt that the writer knows and loves the Yukon and Alaska and admires the people. Great.

Sundown on Top of the World. Loved this book! Rare look at life in the Yukon and Alaska. Filled with quirky characters and hard times and independence. Was different and enthralling.

Good read. I wouldn't call it great literature but an entertaining story. I like the protagonist and, even if I can see the events coming I was entertained. Good beach or ferry reading.

Sundown on Top of the World. Hunter is back up in his old stomping grounds in the Yukon and Alaska. Mysteries from 25 years ago are resurfacing. A murder, deserters, and an abandoned baby all have a tale to tell.
