Blackmail Boyfriend is the Perfect Back-to-School Book. So to start, I preordered this book when I read its description. It sounded like it was going to be a really cute and quirky YA romance novel and I was needing a break from all the scifi and fantasy I’ve been reading. This was the perfect reprieve! Haley has been admiring Bryce from afar for ages. One school morning, a school rumor goes around that Haley slept with Bryce at a party. Turns out Bryce was talking about a different Haley, but our protagonist Haley takes it upon herself to swoop in and blackmail Bryce into being her fake boyfriend for awhile so that her brothers wouldn’t be so overprotective and let her date. Of course, this is just a means of trouble for both Haley and Bryce as they stumble through their fake relationship. Bryce is a guy who absolutely has no idea what a relationship is and Haley has to coach him – even though she’s no expert either. They have fights, there’s high school drama, and there’s an abundance of homemade cupcakes courtesy of Haley’s best friend, Jane. While I was first a little turned off by the POV switches between Haley and Bryce in the middle of chapters, it grew on me and I enjoyed it more. It’s a fine line when you use multiple POVs, because you have to ensure that both characters have very distinct voices and they don’t meld together. Cannon does a phenomenal job at maintaining beautiful balance between the two POVs. I appreciate a good YA romance, even when I expect how it’s going to end. Cannon does a phenomenal job at giving many different bumps along the fake relationship that Bryce and Haley have. Both Haley and Bryce end up letting their guards down and learn to understand each other and begin to have respect. I have to say some of my favorite scenes were at the animal shelter. Especially the one where Bryce brings in Leo. It shows how vulnerable Bryce is and it’s one of the moments where you see the two of them really connect. Cannon does an excellent job at having Bryce and Haley fall for each other. Without spoiling it, I loved the ending. It was a really sweet way to show how they felt toward one another. It wasn’t too over the top cheesy and instead was just as sweet as Jane’s cupcakes. I’ll definitely be reading more of Chris Cannon’s work. Overall rating 4.5/5.

Save My Reputation. Haley Patterson and Bryce Colton did not run in the same circles. When she came to school and heard a rumor they hooked up over the weekend - she saw red! Then she found out what really happened, and used it for her own gain. There was another Haley who had slept with him over the weekend and then got back together with her huge fighter boyfriend. Bryce was not sure what to do. Haley was nothing like the girls he had gone out with in the past. He was not sure this was a good thing - but he is leaning more towards yes it is. His best friend likes her best friend and double dating isn't so bad. Haley knew she would never get out of the rut she was in if she did not come up with a plan. Her brothers are so protective of her - she will never date in this lifetime. Bryce has a reason to step up and give her brothers lip to keep his secret safe. She can teach them she will date and the next guy, the real guy, can come along and all will be well. Nothing ever goes as planned. Bryce and Haley start kissing and holding hands and things seem on the surface to be going better than ever. Then why do they always have a huge bunch of steps backward every time they make strides forward? Haley is not sure she can keep doing this. An amazing story that is as sweet as it is sassy. I love the characters and how they interacted with one another. The humor and genuine feelings were so superb, there was no chance that I could put this down until I got the scoop! ***This ARC copy was given by Netgalley.com and its publisher for review purposes only.

So cute!!. After reading 99% Faking It, I loved Haley and Jane. Blackmail Boyfriend has been on my TBR for a while and I didn't make the connection between these books until a couple chapters into this one. And man, am I glad I got to know these characters better!! I loved Haley so much. She's smart, caring, and not afraid to stick up for herself. I loved how she never backed down and wouldn't take mistreatment from anyone. Bryce, on the other hand, would do better if he could find his inner Haley. When he finally stood up for himself to his family's expectations, I gave a little cheer for him. I loved this lead in to the other series!!
