Incredible insight. One of the best books I’ve read in a long time. Applicable to virtually anything you do.

One of the Greats. This might be one of the best books I’ve ever read. It’s pragmatic approach, it’s practicality and usefulness in every day life is off the charts. I just wish I would’ve read this 10 years ago. Yes, I know it wasn’t written then. However it’s that good.

Changed how I view conflict.. I found the teachings of this book extremely valuable after it was recommended by a mentor. It was the first e-book I purcheased and I studied it with a notebook because Chris Voss gives examples and evidence to his arguments about negotiation that its hard not to be convinced. I am excited to reflect his teachings to real life.

Totally changed the way I talk to people now.. The techniques in the this book helped me do the impossible. I was actually able to get an elderly person to stop using Internet Explorer! You might think I’m joking but it’s no laughing matter to those in tech support. After this review I plan on re reading it again because I’m sure I will learn even more stuff I missed out on the first time around.

Excellent Material. This book has excellent information in it! I read it quickly and couldn't put it down. If you are interested in developing your people skills, soft skills, listening skills, and of course negotiating skills, this book is for you! I bough this book to improve my skills in communication and business, and am very excited to implement these techniques.. there is no doubt it will help.

Excellent Purchase. Easy read, with tons of applicable information. The concepts in this book should be reviewed before any negotiation, it can make a difference. I used the “how” question when someone asked for a raise and it worked like a charm. I made a odd # offer on a recent purchase and the seller didn’t counter resulting in $ saved.

Neo-soul. Great book. It was entertaining and informative.

Some insight but full of Smug. His experience commands insight and attention. However, his writing style gives off a tone of smugness. If you ever seen him on video recording you’ll confirm what I mean. Additionally, it’s clear he advocates for the status quo. (Hardly innovative for negotiating.) You also can’t help but think his success stems from the awesome power of an FBI badge and history.

As entertaining as it is insightful. Absolutely loved this book. I had a pretty lucrative deal in the works that had gone cold, as my counterpart was suddenly unresponsive for about 6 weeks after receiving my proposal. I decided I’d try some “Email Magic” before giving up for good. Wouldn’t you know it, she replied within 2 hours and we are signing the deal next week. This book paid for itself (and then some) in a simple 7-worded email. Not to mention all of the other methods and strategies I will be able to implement in other negotiations yet to come. It is packed full of information, wisdom, strategy, and entertaining stories from a career in crisis negotiation. The real-life stories Chris Voss shares from his FBI negotiation experience are the most interesting part. It’s incredible how the strategies you’d use to get a hostage-taking bank robber to give themselves up are built upon the same foundation and rules of engagement you’d follow in any situation where your ultimate goal is to get your counterpart to do what you need them to in order to win. I’ve recommended this book to several coworkers and recommend to anyone interested in broadening your knowledge of the dynamics of negotiation, communication, and human psychology.

Stories, and negotiations were gripping and memorable.. It’s a must read for all, negotiators, which is basically everyone because life is riddled with negotiations. From calibrated questions, to the black swan, this book gave me practical and applicable advice to adhere. Thank you for writing this.

Fantastic read. The insight to the human psyche that Chris delivers is worth so much more than $15 it's almost laughable. Drawing examples from real hostage negotiations, Chris explains the "why" behind the method and then reinforces with more real life examples from former students. I think what is most helpful to me are the examples from former students. Through those examples you get a handle on when and how each technique is applicable. Can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

Reality Negotiating. Chris Voos's book is the best I've ever read on negotiating. He takes it out of the mechanical process that others present and makes it "real world" and flexible. His emphasis on REALLY listening is bang on!
