Curious Minds by Janet Evanovich & Phoef Sutton Book Summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Janet Evanovich, bestselling author of the Stephanie Plum series, teams up with Emmy-winning writer Phoef Sutton for a brand-new series of mysteries featuring Emerson Knight and Riley Moon, a dynamic duo with instant and undeniable chemistry.

Emerson Knight is introverted, eccentric, and has little to no sense of social etiquette. Good thing he’s also brilliant, rich, and (some people might say) handsome, or he’d probably be homeless. Riley Moon has just graduated from Harvard Business and Harvard Law. Her aggressive Texas spitfire attitude has helped her land her dream job as a junior analyst with mega-bank Blane-Grunwald. At least Riley Moon thought it was her dream job, until she is given her first assignment: babysitting Emerson Knight.

What starts off as an inquiry about missing bank funds in the Knight account leads to inquiries about a missing man, missing gold, and a life-and-death race across the country. Through the streets of Washington, D.C., and down into the underground vault of the Federal Reserve in New York City, an evil plan is exposed. A plan so sinister that only a megalomaniac could think it up, and only the unlikely duo of the irrepressibly charming Emerson Knight and the tenacious Riley Moon can stop it.

Praise for Curious Minds

“The one-liners fly at a ferocious pace. . . . Evanovich fans will find this closer in style to the Stephanie Plum novels.”—Booklist

Curious Minds. I loved reading this book! It is like a comic action hero movie, written in a book! Riley Moon, is a graduate of Harvard Law School, grew up in Texas, can shoot a gun, think on her feet, and match wits with her wealthy brillant and eclectic boss/partner Emerson Knight. As they engaged in a wildly improbable adventure penetrating the vaults of the Federal Reserve bank and depths of Area 51, to find out what’s happening with the world’s gold reserve, I laughed out loud and sped through the pages of the book so fast that I literally was surprised that I was almost to the end. So glad there is one more to read, but sad, there’s only one more to read!

Curious Minds. This is the best book I've read all year and I read hundreds of them. Knight and Moon are the Holmes and Watson for this generation. I can't wait for the next one from these two immaculately talented writers. Hopefully a new Knight and Moon adventure will arrive sooner than later. This is the start of a great series. You will not be disappointed. Geoff Charles

Curious Minds. Looking for a fast paced, well written, totally unbelievable, action mystery this book is for you. Emerson is practically a Marvel Comic superhero, Riley is the perfect foil & the sub-characters are appropriately evil or endearing for their roles. A good beach read.

Curious Minds. Entertaining in a cute way. Read it in two readings.

Funny read. really liked I received this ARC for an unbiased review. This is the first book in this series. I thought it was a cute read. If you enjoy the Plum series by Janet Evanovich, you will enjoy this book. It is not a who done it, but how do the characters get out of this situation. I found myself chuckling several times through out. It is the perfect light read.

Curious Minds. I loved the crazy group of characters! Once you start reading you won't want to put it down!

Another great series from Janet Evanovich. Wow, I thought Nick and Kate were a great team. Now comes Emerson and Riley. The chemistry is fabulous, the story intriguing, and the characters fun, interesting and enjoyable. Can't wait for the next installment.

curious minds. LOVED it!

Curious Mnds. Cute new series by Janet Evanovich (sp?)

Curious minds. I'll cut to the chase. Don't waste your money. I love most all of the Janet Evanovich books. Not this

Meh. Not worth it. Easy read but silly and a bit boring .

Interesting but would like to see where this goes. Curious about the other books in the series

Hilarity and mischievousness continue. Evanovich continues the Knight and Moon series with all of the hilarity and mischievousness you expect. Continued character development of Emerson's cousin, Vernon, is laugh-out-loud funny. Does not disappoint. A must read.

hysterical antics, amazing twists, unexpected turns, diverse, interesting characters. A modern day billionaire, eccentric genius, social inept, Sherlock Holmes type character, Emerson Knight, drags a young, successful banking lawyer, Riley Moon, in to his machinations to uncover a plot to unset the national treasury. Evanovich brings us hysterical antics, amazing twists, unexpected turns, diverse, interesting characters all in a series that will be devoured by her Stephanie Plum fans. I can't wait for more of both Riley and Emerson. I received this ARC copy of Curious Minds from Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine in exchange for a honest review.

Just Ok. I was provided a copy of Curious Minds via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I just recently discovered Janet Evonavich’s books with her Fox and O’Hare series, which I love; so when Curious Minds was offered I jumped on it. I guess the biggest issue I had, was I was expecting the same banter and chemistry between Knight and Moon. Like there was between Fox and O’Hare. Knight is a socially inept, brilliant, eccentric; kind of a rich version of Sheldon Cooper, with a bit more charm and a clue. His only saving grace, when it comes to his interaction with Riley Moon, is he is attractive. But even then there wasn’t much chemistry between them. Their close interactions were more awkward than intimate. I could see Knight become a very beloved character in future books but this first one I’m not sold yet. Riley was a ball of nerves, most of the time and rightly so. The life she had been working for is was essentially being flushed down the toilet, from the second Knight was thrust upon her. Despite her Harvard business and law degrees she is still tasked to be Knight’s reluctant Watson. I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see more of her “smarts”. We know that she can drive and fix cars and shoot a gun. What was college for? All she has done is fetch coffee and babysitting Knight. The Story had a solid plot; to steal the world's gold. It was interesting and scary to think about a few men having that much power over the economy of the world. The mystery behind how Knight was going to solve, then ultimately foil the bad guys was fun and fast paced. It is interesting to see where this series goes, I think the characters have a lot of potential to expand a grow....Sara

A bit of fluff. I'm sure you've read this book before. The plot is as old as pulp fiction. Iconoclastic main character leads the heroine on unlikely adventures and defeats bad guys bent on world domination. Witty reparte ensues. It's not the tense, highly charged James Bond version but the goofy, tongue-in-cheek Maxwell Smart kind of story. There is very little depth to the characters and it's barely worth a review except to warn others not to waste their time.

Curious Minds. Oh please keep this collaboration happening. This was clever, intriguing and thank you so much for the chuckles. Really helps me to have a good perspective on my life 😁👍

Curious Minds. Wasn’t up to the expectations that Janet Evanovich normally delivers.

New series winner. What a marvelous pairing of Janet Evanovich and Phoef Sutton, creating another run away winning series...Emerson Knight and Riley Moon are a delightfully captivating couple. The story absolutely grabs you from the opening prologue and takes you on a boisterous ride through to the very end. The dialogue is whip smart and clever with the banter hilarious and engaging. Emerson's quirkiness plays off perfectly to Riley's Texas firebrand personality. I love that the authors have set Knight and Moon up for more sequels to come. If Knight and Moon can keep up their chemistry, I see nothing but fantastic adventures for these two. This book was provided by Netgalley for my honest review

Will I read it again? I think YES!!!. This book is fast pace, twist and turns with good laughs!!! I can tell that the author had a great time writing this and I am so glad she did. I read this in about a day! I love a book that makes you feel like your in the story!

Curious Minds. After reading all the Stephanie Plum series they are a hard act to follow. CURIOUS MINDS was some what exciting but just couldn't compare to Stephanie, Lola, Joe, Grandma, and of course Ranger.

She just keeps getting better!. I love this new duo and look forward to their next adventure.

Best book since the Stephanie Plum series!. Loved, loved, loved this book. I thought I would never enjoy another book/series as much as all the Stephanie Plum series. Well this does it! I read it non-stop start to finish. Laughed, cried, was frightened and intellectually challenged. Bravo to the authors. Now I will have to wait on pins and needles until the next Plum book as well as the next Knight and Moon book! Can't wait!

Another great story from Janet. This story was entertaining and laugh out loud at certain points. When Guenter gets in the act in the gold vault, I couldn't stop laughing. Thank you for the belly laughs, I needed that!

Not a fan!. Curious Minds by Janet Evanovich is A Knight-Moon Novel (first book in a new series). Riley Moon has just graduated Harvard Business and Harvard Law and has landed her dream job as a junior analyst at Blane-Grunewald in Washington, D.C. The second week on the job her boss Werner assigns her to Emerson Knight. Emerson Knight lives in Mysterioso Manor and is very eccentric. The bank has sent him numerous requests to visit since the death of Emerson’s father, but he has ignored each and every one of them. So, the bank sends Riley to Emerson. Riley is actually glad to get away from the office. Her boss is slightly smarmy and keeps calling her “Moonbeam”. Emerson presents Riley with an unusual request. He wants his gold (he owns actual gold bars). Riley explains that it is not that easy. So, Emerson will settle for seeing his gold and he would like a meeting with Gunter Grunwald. Emerson’s simple requests turn out to be not so simple. Gunter has disappeared. There is also money missing from six clients (Emerson is one of them). Riley and Emerson set out to get answers. They are in for one thrilling and dangerous adventure. Curious Minds had some snippets that I liked, but, for the most part, I did not enjoy Curious Minds. It was too silly to be enjoyable. We have an extremely eccentric millionaire. Emerson wears Converse sneakers (I liked that part), sleeps in a tent in the library, the weird house, the various zoo animals, extremely brilliant, etc. Emerson is many various characters slapped together (Sherlock Holmes for one and Richey Rich is another—I am dating myself with this reference). Let us not forget his Aunt Myra and the pet armadillo. I found the characters to be flat. If there is supposed to be chemistry between Riley and Emerson, I did not feel it. The “mystery” is no mystery. It is a storyline that must play out (we are not given the opportunity to solve the mystery). We follow Riley and Emerson as they investigate the gold issue and the bad bank men (another cliché). I was very disappointed by Curious Minds. It is not my type of story. I prefer more serious mystery novels (with a mystery that I can try and solve). I am just not a fan of slap stick comedy (I do not like the Three Stooges either). I give Curious Minds 2 out of 5 stars. I will be steering clear of this series in the future.
