Deceived by Heather Sunseri Book Summary

The passionate, impulsive Briana Howard and the sly, snarky Jonas Whitmeyer, make a perfect mess of a couple. Both are stubborn, smart and sexy. They’re also human clones with supernatural powers.

Jonas had resigned himself to a solitary life on the remote island of Palmyra, home of Sandra Whitmeyer’s clandestine clone-growing lab. With young clones now inexplicably dying, Jonas is torn between feeling responsible for cleaning up his mother’s mistakes—alone—and his desire to be with Bree.

A heated tussle on Palmyra leaves Jonas and Briana further apart than ever. Bree storms off to Portland, Oregon, but not before encountering clones of a loved one lost long ago.

Jonas tracks down Briana in Portland, where they race to discover the truth about ties between the Howards and the Whitmeyers against a host of obstacles and enemies. Will Jonas and Bree find a way to be together amid an ever-shifting maze of deceit, misdirection and danger unearthed by the darkest of family secrets?

Loved it!. Another great story!

Mind blowing. The continuing saga of the clones. A brief glimpse of what is going on with Bree & Jonas. I'm was so excited to read this and can't wait for the next episode. When I started to read this the author had me from the first sentence. The flow of the story is amazing. The characters come to life and that is hard to accomplish. I've already recommended this to others. Bravo Heather, another amazing book. *Disclaimer... I received a copy for the purpose of review. The opinion stated above is 100% my own.*

Mind Blowing!!!. I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review. So here it is... Deceived was amazing. I read it in two days because I could not put it down I love Brianna and Jonas's story. The end of the story was mind blowing. I did not see it coming. I am looking forward to another book!!!

Astonishing. This book does not disappoint. Usually after a few books in a series the story just drags and is repetitive. This is NOT one of those cases. Heather Sunseri does not disappoint. There is so much thrill that I couldn't put my phone down. I read it in two days because it was such a page turner.

Deceived. I could not put this book down! It kept me guessing right up to the very end. I loved Bree and Jonas almost as much as Lexi and Jack. I am glad that Addison is back with the group and helping them again. I was worried about her after the 4th book. I love the way they all looked after the children and tried to make their life better. I sure wish I had that healing orb!!!!!

Frankensteinian Ethics + Teenage Drama = A BOOK FOR THE AGES. Deceived has the ethical depths of Frankenstein, but the Creatures are attractive and fall in love with each other lol. And they have healing superpowers. And they make mistakes like real humans, which is important to me in literature. READ THIS BOOK PPL. I've followed Heather's work for a while and she's phenomenal and funny and cool, not to mention darn nice. She even tweets back at me. And wrote a note in a book I ordered. I. Just. Can't. Even. 💁🏻 so read this book guys. And get ready to QUESTION EVERYTHING YOU THINK ABOUT GENETIC RESEARCH! IT'S SO EXCITING AND RELEVANT AND FRIGHTENING IN THE MOST CULTURE-SHAPING WAY AHHH every high schooler and adult and human should read this With love, A Certified English Major / Science Geek / Hopeless Romantic 😘😘

Couldn't put it down!. I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest review. I could not put Deceived down! It had twists and turns to keep me guessing (though I did predict the big twist at the end before it was revealed - but I still enjoyed it!). Also, the suspense of what was going to happen between Bree and Jonas had me flipping the pages to see where their relationship was going to go - and made me want to punch Jonas so many times, but his genuine concern for Bree came through to make sure I was never mad at him too long. And while the book didn't end in a cliffhanger, I'm still aching to read what happens next for all the characters! I need to know more of Addison's story! And what the heck is going on with the IIA?!?! Regardless, Deceived was a wonderful, quick read that left me (im)patiently waiting for the next in the series!

Yet another great read!. "I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review." Heather is the kind of author that makes you feel part of the story. The characters are very real. Action, suspense, love - what more can you ask for?

Amazing Page Turner!. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Where could I honestly begin to describe this book? It was a page turner and one of the few books in a series that I dedicate all of my time to. I really enjoyed the change of perspective to Briana and Jonas. Readers got to see a new side of both of these characters(mostly Bree) that we had not gotten to see in the other books. It was a great addition to the series, and I absolutely adored the strong relationship and development of the two's romance throughout the story. I must admit that because of this new side of Briana, she has currently raised her ranks with me and now is my favorite character. Although I still do enjoy Lexi with her beautiful love story with Jack, I mean, who wouldn't? Even though the book was not that long, however I think every good book is never long enough, it was very satisfying. Heather Sunseri knows how to give her readers what they want and I am eager for the next book. Hopefully the next book will go deeper into the intentions of the IIA and expand on what might be the consequences of the trackers in the clone's heads. All in all, it was great and I cannot speak more highly of it!

Fifth book in Mindspeak series!. Deceived by Heather Sunseri is the fifth book in the Mindspeak series. Brianna Howard has just graduated from high school and she is not sure what she wants to do with her future. Bree has decided to visit Jonas Whitmeyer on Palmyra (an island). But Jonas knows that Brianna needs to decide what she wants to do with her life and pushes her away. Jonas does not want Bree staying on Palmyra for him (not that they talk to each other about the situation). Jonas feels he needs to stay on the island to clean up the mess his mother, Sandra, made and he needs to figure out why clones are dying. Then Bree checks on two sick clones and sees something that sends her running back to Portland. Jonas and friends go after Bree (thanks to Raven’s ability to find clones) to see if they can help her (she does not want help). Something is going on at Howard BioTech that involves clones (tracker devices). Bree tries to cozy up to Vance Carrington (VP of Operations), but Vance ends up dead. Bree is the prime suspect and the police are out to arrest her. Bree must now team up with Jonas to get answers (especially since they have the police and IIA agents trying to find them). What is going on at Howard BioTech? Is Bree’s father involved? Can Jonas and Bree find out what is going on? Who is trying to frame Bree for murder? I found it difficult to summarize Deceived. There is quite a bit going on in this novel (I just gave you a small summary). Deceived can be read as a stand-alone book if you have not enjoyed the previous novels in the series (I have read three of the five books). The author does a good job of summarizing prior events. Though reading the novels would be helpful (and they are pleasurable to read). There are two things that I did not like about the book. One is that too much of the story (the first half of the book) was devoted to the romance (or possible romance) between Jonas and Brianna. They each went on about their attraction, their looks, etc. The other was the alternating chapters. One chapter told from Brianna’s point-of-view and the next from Jonas’. This went all through the whole book. I found it distracting. I wish the story had been written in the third person (makes for an easier to read novel). I give Deceived 4 out of 5 stars (I liked it). Technically, Deceived is a young (or new) adult novel, but I think that older readers will enjoy the story (like myself). I received a complimentary copy of Deceived in exchange for an honest evaluation of the book. I will always provide an honest and forthright review.

great read!. I was recently given an opportunity to check out Deceived by Heather Sunseri. I was a little cautious stepping into a story that’s fifth in a series. I find that the author is usually to vague or too repetitive at this point when referencing past happenings. Not so with Deceived! Something I am thankful for. I enjoyed myself while reading. I found it to be pretty believable. The heroes are neither invincible or reluctant. No love triangles! While not a book I would describe as action packed, it certainly moved along at a good pace. I will be looking to read the first four in this series! I hope you enjoy reading as much as I did. * I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.*

AMAZING. Live everything Heather writes. But see, she has thing cute little thing she does where she makes you dislike (at times hate) a certain character only to make you fall in love with them!!! I'm glad I got to see a different (better) side of Brianna we didn't see before. Would've loved to see more from Lexi and Jack but I know I know-it wasn't their book. But it was confusing and pleasant to see Alison evolving, but we definitely need to see more of her. If I had one negative thing g to say about this book is that it was too short wahhhh 😩😩😩 WHAT IS UP WITH THAT HEATHER?!?!

Awesome Book!. If you choose to read this book you will experience a book with a couple laughs and some twists and turns and some moments where you are bitting your nails wondering if the characters are going to be okay. There is a part in it between where the story setting between Portland and where Brianna leaves palmyra that is a little slow but after that is really good. I am glad that I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review

Another Great Book!. Heather Sunseri has done it again! Another five star book with a captivating story line. The characters are depicted so intricately, that you feel like you are standing right there with them. It can be read as a stand alone or after her four other books in the Mindspeak series. Heather never fails to deliver and I highly urge you to get this book, you won't regret it.

More Clones and the Truth Revealed. This book is the fifth book in the Mindspeak series. I have read other books from this author, including other books in the Mindspeak series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I don't recommend that. The previous books help you to understand what's going on and who these characters are. And no cliffhanger at the end though it is open-ended for future books. There is violence. The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. The main characters in Deveived are Brianna (Bree) and Jonas. The author managed to richly describe the characters, and get you caught up in the emotions between the Brianna and Jonas, even if you haven't read the previous books. There is plenty of action as well as twists and turns in the book. I really enjoyed this book and storyline. I look forward to reading more of Heather Sunseri's books. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Deceived!. The mindspeak series gets better and better. Bree has never been my favorite character to begin with but after reading Deceived you just can’t help but root for her and Jonas. The book has so many twists and turns it kept you wanting more. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Amazing!. Oh my! Where do I even begin? This was pure awesomeness. I hadn’t read the previous books in the series so I wondered if I was going to need to read them before beginning this. You know, so I won’t get lost and confused. I didn’t! Don’t get me wrong, I will most definitely be reading the prior books, but I didn’t get lost or confused. Sunseri has amazing world building skills and makes the reader feel as if they are actually there. Her descriptions and everything were perfect. I felt as if I were actually there in the story. This honestly should be a movie. Her character building is strong. I loved reading Briana and Jonas’ story. Briana is strong, determined, and is confused. She is in love with Jonas, but isn’t sure what her life direction is or who she is. Jonas doesn’t think Briana deserves a guy like him or to live a life on an uninhabited island for the rest of her life. Due to this, he pushes her away, except she leave Palmyra and becomes concerned about her safety. I’m also curious to learn more about Addison. She’s a fascinating 10-year-old. The characters are also far from perfect. Sometimes they made some really bad decisions, but they also made some really good ones. They are relatable, fun, and were never boring. The clone thing was also quite fascinating and original. Briana has a passion for the young clone children and will do anything to save them when they go missing. Did I mention that it was pure awesomeness and I can’t wait to see what’s next in store for this series. Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review, which I have given. I was not required to write a positive review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.

Amazing Journey. Heather wrote a book that takes you on a journey of secrets revealed. The original clones have so much to learn about their own history. Bree's story reveals secrets about her past that will help change her future. Heather leads her readers on this path of who is doing what with whom. While dropping clues that make you question everything and everyone. I have to go back on read the first 4 books now!!!

Review. Where do I even start? This book was so amazing, honestly I only read this because I love the series, I never liked Jonas or Bree mug but this book made me see them in a whole new light. From the very first chapter I was hooked. So many twists from the start that it's ridiculously good. I found myself staying up late just to read one more chapter. Even if you don't think you'd like a story with Bree or Jonas as the main characters, try it. Not only do you learn to like them, even grudgingly, but you'll see more of Lexi and the rest of the Wellington group. Disclaimer: I was given a free copy of this book in return for my honest, unbiased review.

Love these books. Wonderful book, could not put it down!

Deceived. I have loved every book in this series. This newest edition doesn't disappoint. Love that the story line doesn't slow down to the very end. What a great surprise ending. Recommend this book to everyone. I was given a copy of this book to provide an honest review. Even without that, I would and will continue to read this series. Can't wait for the next twist in this storyline. Love, love, love this series.

Deceived. I have truly enjoyed this series. It was great to see How Brianna's (Bree's) character has developed through the series. I look forward to many more of Heather's books!

Wow!. I received this book free in exchange for an honest review. This is one of the best sci-fi books I've read, it was interesting beginning to end. Highly recommend the series.

Great book in a great series!!!. This is an awesome book! It kept me on the edge of my seat! The author did an amazing job keeping you guessing. I admired the strength of Red and her compassion. A must read. The twist at the end through me for a loop.

Amazing!. I was so privileged to be part of Heathers launch team for this book and it did not disappoint! Any fan of the series has been wanting to get into the dark, twisted forest that is Jonas Whitmeyer's mind and Heather wrote it out almost perfectly! Same with Briana. As dysfunctional, scary and downright mean they both seem, you get to see the crap they have to go through and they see each other in totally different lights which made me see them differently too. With the IIA still hanging around, there's a lot of puzzle piece they're still putting together. The one flaw which made me give it a 4 instead of 5 star, was it seemed a bit rushed as many short stories do-especially when it's supposed to be a continuation of a series as opposed to an epilogue or prequel or "same story from someone else's POV". I would've liked to hear more about Brianas past with her family and details of what lead to the events of the summer before (you'll know what I mean). But honestly this was a really good fix for fans of the series and it does leave you wanting more. Not exactly a cliffhanger, but definitely some questions left open ;) Can't wait for the next!

LOVE LOVE LOVE. The mindspeak series has been one of my favorites for a while now, and I absolutely loved Deceived! My favorite thing was getting to see different sides to Jonas and Bree. Both characters have grown and evolved so much from the beginning of the series and it was nice for them to get a chance to shine! As always, 10/10 would recommend. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Amazinggg!!. This series is the best sci-fi type book I have ever read. The storyline is great and the characters are impeccable. I have read most books by this author and cannot wait for future series like these!

Deceived. I loved the sample I got! I found Bree/Briana's power cool

Loved it!. This book begins and ends with excitement that keeps every page turn more and more thrilling and engaging. I was unable to put this down as you are immediately diving into Briana's world. Dr. Howard perplexed me and I thoroughly enjoyed his character because he was someone I did not know if I could trust or not. This book was a wonderful addition to the series and did not disappoint! You will certainly enjoy the characters, the twists and the ending!

Wow, wow, wow!. When I received a copy of this book early to leave a review, I did not expect something this flawless. I have read the prior books in the series, but it's been awhile. This book can definitely be read as a stand-alone or as part of the series. Either way, it's impossible to put the book down once you begin reading it. It's so easy to fall in love with the characters and get wrapped up in the story. I would recommend this book for action lovers, sci-fi lovers, romance lovers, or anyone who enjoys a thrilling read. Seriously, it's a fantastic book. The book flowed quite nicely, I found no grammatical errors, and I was already under the spell of the book within the first chapter. I would give it more than five stars if I could!

Review of Deceived. I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this book for my honest review. So first let me start by saying that this was my first experience with the Mindspeak series. I now know that I am going to have to go read all the others in this series. It did take a little bit of time in places for me to understand the story line due not having read the other books. I really enjoyed the developing of Jonas and Bree. It will be interesting to see where that goes and how this turn out with Bree father. I would strongly recommend this book to everyone, even if you have read the others yet! You will want to after reading this! The book is very well written and easy to read. I did have some trouble putting it down.

You deserve this book in your library. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into when I started this book. I had only read the first book and an excerpt of the second, so it's a bit of a understatement to say that the main characters of Deceived had an uphill battle to get me invested in their story - they really weren't my favorite people going into this. I am so glad they they got a book of their own. I was able to see Jonas and Bree as complex people with their own challenges to overcome and dreams they were trying to fulfill. And the relationship between them was at once frustrating and heartwarming. I guess it goes to prove what I heard: even if we could read each others minds, we'd still have misunderstandings. I enjoy books with some mystery in them, and I quite like the mysteries I can solve, but I really adore the stories that keep me guessing until just before the Big Reveal. (I won't go into my opinion about the stories that make it too easy for my to solve the mystery, because that just doesn't apply here.) I was desperately flipping pages to learn more the whole way through the book. Even when I finally got to the end, I was begging the universe "please let there be another chapter", until there wasn't. Sigh. I can't wait to see what happens next.

AMAZING!. **I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. In complete honesty, I adore this series. From the first novel I was 100% hooked. I simply can not put them down! I love Heather Sunseri's writing style, the lively characters weaved into her stories and the intricate plot lines which make them all the more interesting. Reading this author's books is never a drag. They are to the point yet in enough detail to keep you on the edge of your seat. Normally when a series continues after three books, those that follow seem to be a bit repetitive and sometimes even pointless. Now this is not the case for all series however this has been a frequent occurrence in my reading life. My favourite part of this collection is that it defies this commonality. The first three books of the series are based on a character, Lexi's, journey. The fourth and fifth mark a change in direction of the story as a whole while still integrating the other characters. This way they are not disconnected. To conclude, this book is a definite must-read, I recommend it wholeheartedly. Get comfortable, grab some snacks and prepare for a weekend full of adventure. I promise you will not be disappointed!
