His to Protect. Cute, nice, light short story. Simple enough characters and plot for a quick enjoyable read. A few awkward preposition phrase placements, but grammar basically good. Spellcheck missed two blatant errors: page 160 - not sure what "...price..." should have been; ...jet "leg" should obviously be lag.

His to Protect. Enjoyable. Easy to read..unexpected love. Also, I like that the two younger brothers were well introduced. I like them and care about them; I look forward to meeting their mates!

............ Good thing the story was free or else I would be requesting a refund. How the story progressed just felt too fast and unrealistic. I know it’s a paranormal romance but realistic in the sense of how people form relationships and fall in love. The characters feelings just felt all over the place and inconsistent. It was hard to keep up and made it frustrating to read. I didn’t bother to finish the book. Half way in characters profess their love for each other and the ‘conflict’ is too obvious.

Loved it. Great book. I loved the characters and the plots. I enjoyed reading it immensely!

A good effort. I really wanted to like this book. I’m okay with the concept. However, too much happens too fast. The brothers have been disowned by the only family they have. That’s a big deal, but we are whooshed right along to a grand opening. Our heroine who is apparently a lousy judge of character (see: Trent), is attracted at first sight (okay, mates), but willing to do his brother. AND isn’t put off by alarmingly irrational jealous behavior. The scene in the kitchen had red flags all over it. Speeding along, we have the Big Furry Reveal, and somehow the heroine digests this rapidly and it’s not even a speed bump as we already have to deal with The Evil Ex. I’ve saved him for last. Because their relationship being so long and entwined with her dad is so implausible that it made me doubt her judgement about everything. Just having him be gay and realizing it would have worked just fine for the plot. It’s a hard, heartbreaking process for everyone involved. There was no need for extra drama. Instead we got !Gay !Criminal !Sociopath Trent, and I felt exhausted just try to keep my disbelief suspended. Overall, too rushed and overly dramatic. Maybe a beta reader or different editor would help. Definitely keep writing, just take it easy. Readers will still be here!

Sexy, but not well written.. This one started out with a decent hook. I’ve read plenty of mountain man stories and my share of shifter stories so I had a good idea of what to expect. The sexual tension was described pretty well and the sex scene I read was sizzling hot, but I could not get past the lack of editing and the feeling of it being rushed. I felt like the interactions between the characters should have played out differently. Like in the very start, if I was isolated on a mountain and my hosts started fist fighting, it wouldn’t be something to just brush off. I realize that both main characters were feeling some serious hormones for each other but there was hardly any buildup, the back story creeping in felt like it wasn’t important and not well placed in their thoughts, and the fact that secrets were revealed almost immediately left me feeling like a big chunk of the book was cut out to save time.

Building memories. Loved it. Sometimes romance novels can be overwhelming. Not this one. The story is simple enough for me to thoroughly "experience" it along with all characters and still function as a normal after I was done. It felt like building memories

Paranormal Romance. Paranormal romance come to life. It’s a quick read & flows amazingly. If you enjoy a little drama and a happy ending then this is a book for you.

Go Grizzlies!. Could not put this down. Will definitely finish the series.

Worth Reading. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed are entirely my own. This is not a genre I usually read, but I have enjoyed each one in this series. Kade is the last of the three Jackson brothers to find his mate, and he has a lot of demons to kill before he is ready to accept Ella as his soulmate. A fair amount of drama along the way, but it all works out well by the end. Plus a hint of the next book in the series. Worth reading, a good book for a lazy afternoon

Good. So far I’m enjoying this book but I’m the right you described the female main character harper to be a brunette when in the book you’ve stated several times already that she’s blonde. But other than that it’s a moderate enjoyable experience to read, thank you

Grizzly Ridge bear haven. Thoroughly enjoyed this story of alpha Axel and his shifter brothers. Intriguing plot, enough to keep me turning the pages. Entertainingly written, I look forward to reading the others in the series. Well done! 👍👍👍

I need to read the rest. This is the first book in the Bears of Grizzly Ridge series, and I enjoyed it so much that I am going to check out the rest. I need to know the story of the other brothers. Axel Jackson and his brothers, Luke and Kade, have opened up a lodge on Grizzly Ridge. He arranges for a travel journalist to come and check it out, and that is when he meets Harper, his mate. Harper needs this time away from her life to try and recover from a the betrayal of her ex. She certainly didn't expect to find that she loved everything about the place.

His To Protect. Love can be found in many shapes and forms but Harper the main heroine finds hers in a big Bear form that she spots in the woods from up above in a helicopter. She’s instantly attracted to the beautiful beast of a bear. When Axel shifts back into human form and meets Harper, he instantly knows she’s his mate but she’s also human which complicates things a little. Harper is in Montana with her friend Nina who’s a journalist on an assignment. She’s there to write an article about the resort Grizzly Ridges they’re staying at but has no idea its owned by three brothers The Jacksons’ who happen to be shifters. And the adventure begins!!

I want more!. This was a great, entertaining read. The plot and character development is so good that I wish it was longer! There are so many directions this story could’ve taken and I’m disappointed that they weren’t taken advantage of.

Romance with a Great Twist. This new series is so promising for its welcome difference, and is definitely not your run-of-the-mill romance reading, which makes it very special in the larger genre. I simultaneously wanted to finish this book quickly and to go slowly, because of how enjoyable it was. I have read few of Elena Aitken’s books before, and they never disappoint; this one is no exception. This tale including shape-shifting clearly borrows some ideas from Indigenous beliefs, culture and stories that have been personally shared with me in the past by First Nation profs, colleagues and friends, yet it doesn’t, importantly IMO, seem to co-opt or attempt speak from an Indigenous perspective. Readers can take what they will, as a result, accepting the unexplored backdrop of alter animal and human incarnations in one body and personality, without stereotyping. The interplay is essentially a lighthearted take on honouring and living one’s true personhood, purpose and place in the world. Like many women, I embrace the portrayal of a variety of women, not simply the petite, ultra-attractive skinny blond females that too often pepper the romance genre. I can relate to Harper! (And from the preview of the next book that I intend to read ASAP, Chloe too.) Thanks, Elena, for including “the rest of us” in your books! The descriptive prose for a beautiful mountain retreat and the relationships developed between the three man-bear business partners, Axel, Kade, and Luke forms the backbone for this and sets up for at least two follow-on stories. Stop reading this review and get into the story now ... you won’t regret it. 👍
