水滸伝 by 施耐庵 Book Summary
『水滸伝』(すいこでん、水滸傳)は、明代の中国で書かれた伝奇歴史小説の大作、「中国四大奇書」の一つ。
施耐庵(あるいは羅貫中)が、それまでの講談(北宋の徽宗期に起こった反乱を題材とする物語)を集大成して創作されたとされる。なお、「滸」は「ほとり」の意味であり、『水滸伝』とは「水のほとりの物語」という意味である(「水のほとり」とは、本拠地である梁山泊を指す)。
施耐庵(したいあん)は、中国の小説で四大奇書の一つである『水滸伝』の作者であるとされる人物。生没年は1296年～1371年というが、疑わしい。明のころの人と思われるが、水滸伝の作者として名が見えるのみであるため、何者であるのか、実在したのかさえもよくわからないが、一応『興化県続志』に施耐庵伝と明初の王道生『施耐庵墓志』が掲載されている。『七修類稿』、『百川書志』等は銭塘の人としている。
