A Harmless Little Game. Ok, I’m a bit fed up with the whiny 1 ⭐️ reviewers on here. They aren’t reviewing based on the book’s story or the author’s writing capabilities, but rather that this TRILOGY ends in a cliffhanger (HELLO! TRILOGY! 🤦‍♀️) and that the entire series isn’t free so if they wish to finish the storyline they will have to purchase the other 2 books. Cry me a freaking river folks! Meli has several of her first in series books free, which she doesn’t HAVE to do! Just looking at the contents of her books on iBooks it’s obvious that all her books come in trilogies, so yes, you’ll have to fork over some cash for books 2 & 3. She is making a living after all! If YOU were the author would you be releasing nothing but free books? I don’t think so! I’ve read way to many “reviews” where people said they liked the book and the writing BUT were put off by the book being a cliffhanger and rated it 1 ⭐️ because of it. That’s not an authentic review when trilogies are the known style of an author. The people saying “I won’t be coming back to this author again! 😒” You got it for free in the first place! What did you risk? 🤣 Stop being a whiny little cheapskate and do a proper review about the BOOK. Not about a price you DIDN’T pay. I myself enjoyed the book, there have been many twists and turns in the plot. Every chapter brings new information and my theories on the endgame are constantly changing. I cannot wait to purchase the rest of the series and contribute to the author’s wages. 😉 I look forward to the other series starters I have downloaded by this talented writer. I’m sure I will be making additional purchases. Quality hard work should be rewarded.

Excellent. A sadly twisted story. I found myself shocked and engaged with the awful direction as this tale progressed. It ends with the reader snapping up the next book to find out what happens next. And the hope that some type of justice is served. Excellent read, not for the faint of heart.

Excellent Quick Read. I downloaded this book for free from and as in Facebook and was not disappointed. I would recommend this author and series to any reader that enjoys suspense plots and women's romance novels. Read this book in a day and it was worth it. The character and plot development forces you to keep reading because each chapter reveals a little bit more to help get you to the understand the extent of what happened that fateful night that started the plot in motion. The characters are extremely likable and the plot is completely relevant to today, speaking to sexual assault and how it affects people differently and the way people process. Granted not everyone has the luxury of being secluded from the world for 4 years after bit nevertheless it's an interesting plot twist that is relatable.

Trigger warning but very good. This book... just wow. Let’s start off with I couldn’t put it down! And if it wasn’t going on midnight I would definitely be opening book 2 immediately. A 5 star read!!!!. I read A LOT of books. I don't usually give 5 star ratings unless it's something I would consider reading again. It's hard to find books that I can't put down from the first to last sentence of the book. This is one of them and deserves more reviews. This book was well written, has a great flow and a great story line. I know it sounds awful about a girl getting gang raped, and it is awful, but it's how she is dealing with it, with reality and sticking up for herself which isn't always easy, especially when her father is running for president. You will not regret reading this and I can't wait to read the next two books.

A beautifully twisted, emotion-packed story. I think with any book an author has to really be connected to her characters in order to make you feel their every thought and emotion. This was just the beginning for Lindsay and Drew, there is so much more to their stories that will leave you twisted up and racking your brain to figure out what's next. Beware, it's emotional but definitely worth the read, I bought the other 2 books before I finished reading this one.

Read all 3 in a month!. I loved this series so much! After reading the first one had to get the other two to see how it ended..definitely couldn’t put it down! I recommend them all !!

Not worth buying second book in series. Weird story with too much foul language and sex scenes to fill up pages that add nothing to the story. Does not end because you are expected to buy the next book to have any kind of ending. Cannot recommend this book.

You have to buy the next book in series to find out the ending!. This is a novella in a series, which was not clear from the description. I was frustrated to see I have to pay for the next book in the series to actually see how the story ends. I won't be doing that. Interesting plot, mediocre writing, ridiculous romance. Great premise, could have been a great book.

Sooooo dumb. It made absolutely no sense from the first page to the last. The main character Lindsey was dry, corny, naive and basically an adult with a five year old brain. Drew was a mix of many main characters from other famous books. Nice try but very bad storyline

Good story line. I found this story by an ad on Facebook and it intrigued me. I like the passion between Lindsay and Drew. I don’t understand the shadiness of her candidate father but I’m hoping the next book in the series can help clear some of That up.

The Three Part Book, Part One. There's no doubt Meli Raine can write and keep a reader's attention, unfortunately, she's part of the new author trend, the serial novel. These are often short romantic suspense stories that aren't resolved in the first book, or the second for that matter, forcing the reader who wants to know the outcome to buy the successive books. And, that alone is the reason for the 3 star rating; the writing deserves much more. The plot is original, the heroine is likable, the villains are truly villainous, the hero is handsome and heroic and the action moves swiftly. If you give in and buy all three they are good beach or rainy day books. I binge read all of them in a day!

Waste of time dribble. This book gripped me for the first few paragraphs, then it started showing inconsistencies and illogical concepts and I was getting angry at the unbelievable behaviour of the characters. I persisted to the end, expecting some clever twist, but sadly it just got worse. I started reading it without realising it is part of a series, and getting to the last page without any resolution was frustrating. There is not even an explanation of what the "Harmless little game" is. Maybe that refers to the game the author is playing with her readers. Waste of time. Needless to say I won't buy the remaining instalments.

The harmless series. I really loved this book series, I haven’t quite felt the same since reading it and find my self struggling to connect with any other book. At the same time I’m refraining from reading the next 3 books following Janes story as I am considered it won’t feel the same and well I just wish I could have my mind wiped so I could read this trilogy again.

A thirst for knowledge. Lindsay has suffered. She suffered 4 years ago and is still suffering now. Her wounds may have healed but her need for revenge, for the people who did unspeakable acts to her remain strong. She doesn't know everything that happened that night and people are still keeping things from her. The world thinks she's guilty, only she's not. She was betrayed by her boyfriend, he just let everything happen, or did he? Her love for him remains strong even though it shouldn't, that's what she keeps telling herself. I really love the two main characters in this book. It intrigues you and draws you in until you are thirsty for more. Oh believe me I want more.

Not for the feint of heart. Meli Raine is a new author to me and I will certainly be looking into her other books as soon as time allows. There is a cliff hanger at the end, so be warned. Well where do I start? Firstly there is NOTHING harmless about this game. You feel as though you are on a roller coaster which is out of control and you have no idea where you are going to end up. Lindsay Bosworth is a broken and shattered woman, the result of a traumatic and horrific attack 4 years ago. She has been kept secluded from the public eye since the attack occurred and was plastered all over social media. Even worse than the 3 men who attacked her, her boyfriend sat by and let it all occur, or did he? When she is finally allowed to return to her family, her father sends her bodyguard to escort her home, only problem is that it is Andrew “Drew” Foster, her ex boyfriend. Thrust back into her life, Lindsay has to battle not only her demons but her feelings for the man she believes betrayed her. Not knowing who she can trust she second guesses almost everyone in her life. This was a raw, gritty read that was at time emotional and certainly not for the feint of heart. Well written, the suspense and political intrigue got me from the start and I once I finished I immediately had to one click the remaining two books so that I could find out what happened.

No Harm..... This is a first book for me by this author and absolutely loved it!! Had intrigue, suspense and smouldered at the same time. Can’t wait for Book 2.

What a rush. Wow is all I can say. You know those books you can’t put down till you know the whole truth this is it. I got this book for free, never heard of the author, never read any of their books but wow I’m a fan. I’m off to get more what an a amazing storyline. I love/hate the characters they are written so well. The emotional journey that the author has taken you on made me cry, hurt and angry at what happened and happens to Lindsay. What an amazing courageous woman she is. If you have the opportunity to get a book then certainly try this one.

"A Harmless Little Game" by Meli Raines. The book begins describing a horrific event which immediately captures your attention. It's very raw, disturbing, emotional and painful to read. The author describes brilliantly how Lindsay understands and "plays" the psychiatric institution in order to "escape". One can't help but feel mortified and ashamed at how Lindsay was treated by her family and supposed friends who should have been there to support her. Instead, she was just an agenda item. In addition, Lindsay is both mortified to still desire Drew and hate him at the same time. There is so much intrigue going on, you have no idea who to trust. Superb book!

Good story. What happens next, I want to know.

A tease. The author has a way of spinning a story that catches the imagination, the only problem is that the whole story is a tease to get readers to purchase the other books in the series at an inflated price. I have no patience for this type of marketing as usually the follow up books lack the quality of the first.

Heartbreaking, suspense filled..... Wow amazing, I was given this free advanced readers copy for an honest review.... What to say, Lindsay at the age of 18 goes through the most traumatic thing a young girl could every go through. After 4 years she has to now defend herself once again... And to top it all off her ex friend / boy friend is going to protect her. Heartbreaking to learn things that Lindsay would have never guessed in a million years. But will she fight her demons or let them walk all over her once again. Loved this book lots of suspense and can't wait to read more.

Wonderful story. Loved it!

History is written by the best spin doctors. To me, this book is mostly about setting the stage: introducing us to the major players, giving us the history of the situation, and explaining why Lindsay is at the point she is. I’ve heard it said that “history is written by the victors”, and with today’s media-machine history is written by the best spin doctors. I’m hooked now to see who’s pulling the strings behind the scenes and how Lindsay and Drew will get their justice.
