Priceless. More books like this need to be pushed to the forefront of the African-American Culture to help balance out all the Negative Images out there of us behaving like Animals in the Wild! This book was very insightful and shed light on a message that I’ve rarely (if ever) heard before in my life and that is that it is a Privilege To Be Black!

Empowering, humorous, and insightful read!. Charlamagne did a fantastic job at illustrating how you don’t have to start with favorable circumstances to pursue your passion and become successful! He does so by alluding to a litany of different anecdotes from his upbringing, detailing his pitfalls and shortcomings in a provocative, and vulnerable way! His takes are controversial and bold per usual, his philosophy and lessons are infused with humor as well. That aspect of it makes it a very fun read as well, however the icing on the cake had to be his inclusion of Hip-Hop as a positive influence in his life. He expanded on how many of the artists he listened to growing up influenced not only his thinking on the surface level, but with other life values such as religion(the Five Percenters). Lastly, I’d like to mention that this isn’t the prototypical Black American dream story either, you know when the poor black kid grows up and finally makes it out the hood to become a rapper/ball player. His story juxtaposes that common story line because his dream to make it out was a unique route. Although it included many of the stereotypical aspects of the cliche story due to Charlamagne’s mistakes being detailed, it’s still very unique due to how he discovered his passion. As well as his unconventional route to living out his passion. You find yourself getting inspired by his story, as it is very relatable, without being too cliche. Excellent read for anyone who is doubting themselves in life, especially if you are a minority. Honestly, you won’t regret reading this!

Tha God strikes again. More than just a hot take shock jock, Charlamagne gives you a blueprint to find yourself and what works for you. Chronicling his journey gives you the true method to his presumed madness. A great read for a fan or even a hater. -STAR

Thank you. I’m 17 and I’ve never really read a book, because most either are gonna put me to sleep or I just won’t understand it. But this was my favorite book out of the small majority I have read. Also not only did I enjoy it, but you helped me tell my truth, you taught me things, helped me take a chance to learn new things, and evolve. Recently I bought four books to help me evolve like what you have said in the book. Also you need to get someone to spell check, if you don’t already, or read over it when you finish because I saw some writing errors that someone could’ve told you about. But thank you for writing this book it helped so much.

My perception of CthaGod has dramatically changed.. This book is excellent. Inspiring, educational, and thought provoking. It reminds us that we all have a purpose in life and we must unlock that purpose ourselves. It’s also a deep look into C’s past and how his past helped shaped his future for the better! I highly recommend this book for anyone who feels like they don’t have the power to change whatever situation they find themselves stuck in.

Hooked on this storyline. Great read for anyone looking for comical relief and inspiration. If Shook One is anything like Black Privilege I’ll be hooked.

Black Privilege. Great Book

The principles of life. There are some great life lessons presented in this book. Charlamagne discusses his trials and tribulations in a small town to the big city. The repeated foul language was turn off for me. I understand the principles and it is real talk for plain understanding. I started out reading the book but switched to audiobook make the story come to life. I strongly recommended the audiobook. He does his own narration in Audible. This book is a mixture of autobiography and advice.

Reading this book at 24 has taught me that no matter what the odds look like you just have to keep pushing to accomplish your dreams. I can’t wait to read Shook One: Anxiety Playing Tricks on Me! It’s going to be great I can already feel it.

Excellent Book. I don’t know much about the author but I was watching a YouTube video of him interviewing Pusha T and I saw the book in the background. I downloaded it to learn more about the author and his thoughts and believes. I had very low expectations to say the least. To my surprise this book greatly exceeded my expectations. Every chapter was a thrill to read and I do feel like a got a much better understanding of why you do what you do and say what you say thanks to your brutal honesty in this book. Thanks again for taking the time to write this and best of luck in all of your future endeavors

Great book. I really love the raw language that was used to understand what been black mean. I am impressed how the author get empowered and his life story just tell the truth about been black. Also, I was impressed how the author put his trust in God and never give up to start all over when he fall. The best lesson this book has thought me is to be oneself in every situation. Never try to be someone else you are not or will never be. That was my every day motto and I agree totally with him. In every situation I believe with the author that God has a plan for every one and it is important to be you, always.

We are the privileged children. This book perfect for the 20 something turning 30 year old and the “I️ was just thirty now I’m forty” crowd. I️ really enjoyed it, quick read and had a solid message. Started a little slow and ended a little preachy. However the middle (meat and potatoes) hit home. Thank you Charlamagne.
